“After careful review of many products, we have purchased the Samsara cameras and monitoring devices you now see in the vehicles and on the equipment The cameras are installed on the tractors, roll-offs and will soon be installed on all the sewer cleaning equipment We will slowly expand the number of vehicles that are equipped with cameras There are two cameras on each unit, one facing forward and one back towards the driver. Several of us, including me, are notified when certain things are detected – looking down at a cell phone or other components of distracted driving. Our intent is not to watch you drive but rather be made aware if there are issues with your driving and using your cell phone while driving is an issue.

This technology is used by many companies, including one of our competitors As I spoke with one of their managers, I became sold on Samsara

Time to check in and let us know - are you getting what you need to be successful at Taplin?? How can we help? We want you to build a successful CAREER here but we need to hear from you What’s important to you? WHY do you choose to work here? What can we do better?

I want to be clear We won’t be playing little games here This is serious stuff with serious consequences If you think you are just going to cover up the camera, don’t I cannot believe that grown men would play such silly games while they call themselves professionals and navigate a large vehicle through traffic. Your safety and that of the public is paramount. By using your cell phone while driving you are ignoring everything we stand for relative to safety.”

Willingness: The core of the verse ' s application is being ready and willing to be sent, rather than waiting to be asked Commitment to Service: It represents a commitment to serving the needs of the organization, team, or a higher calling, even when it involves "grunt work" or difficult tasks.

Purpose and Meaning: It encourages finding deeper meaning in one ' s daily work by reframing it as a form of service, whether it's a high-profile project or a simple task

Taplin Trick-or-Treaters! (Submitted by Paul Vosburg)

This is a tragedy and another example of a preventable incident that could have been avoided Had the driver maintained a safe traveling distance and not been distracted this family would still be alive.

Let’s continue to stay focused and not be distracted when driving and when performing a task! Let’s make it a safe day and look out for each other Thank you.

How Fleet Dash Cams Benefit Drivers

Protection from false claims: Commercial vehicles are frequently targeted in "crash-for-cash" insurance fraud schemes With dash cam footage, fleets can provide indisputable proof that an incident was not the driver's fault. Supports insurance claims: Video evidence can expedite the claims process by quickly establishing what happened and who was at fault. This can save money in legal fees and prevent wrongful blame from falling on the driver

The "silent witness": The camera provides an objective, reliable record of events. This eliminates "he said, she said" scenarios, as human recollection of accidents is often unreliable. Risk reduction: Dash cam systems with advanced features can provide real-time alerts to drivers about risky behaviors like speeding, following too closely, or distracted driving. This encourages safer habits, which reduces the chance of an accident.

Additional Benefits

Decreased costs: Studies cited by WEX and the National Institutes of Health have shown a dramatic reduction in crash frequency and costs associated with accidents after implementing dash cams Some fleets even see a decrease in insurance premiums.

Event-based recording ONLY: Many dash cams only save and upload footage when a specific event (like harsh braking) is triggered, avoiding continuous monitoring and ensuring driver privacy when not actively on the job

Training Academy Videos

Systems are eventbased, meaning they only upload footage when a trigger event like harsh braking or an accident occurs

Advanced AI-based cameras capture and analyze driving habits, enabling companies to confidently recognize all the good driving habits –which comprises most of the drive time - as well as addressing safety concerns

Non-event footage stored locally less than 4 days, then overwritten/deleted
