How to create heterogeneity with modern space?

2024 Summer

Instructor:Yingzhe Song

Individual project

Location: Jiangxi

In the midst of the city's transformation, an old factory building was given a new lease of life and became a unique architectural heterotopia. It blends history and modernity, and through a multi-dimensional narrative approach, allows visitors to feel the flow of life in the light and shadow and spatial transformation. Located in an old factory build ing, it symbolizes inheritance and connection, memorializing the city's contributors and reflecting on the lack of death education. The building not only transforms physical space, but also touches the heart. It presents the issue of life and death in an innova tive way, inspiring the public to respect and cherish life. As a cultural landmark of the city, it leads us to think about how to better face the future and cherish every present moment.

If there is no family affection?

2024 Summer

Instructor:KongYe

Individual project

Location: Jiangxi

The project is inspired by Brave New World, and reflects deeply on the problems caused by family ties in real society from a dystopian perspective. Although family ties connect individuals, they are often one of the sources of unfair resource allocation and limited freedom. Therefore, I envisioned a new world without the constraints of family ties, where everyone is an independent but closely connected individual, and contribution value becomes a condition for the stable development of society. This vertical city carries a fair social system from birth to old age through spaces such as childcare centers, mobile symbiotic communities, and elderly care centers. The project uses hexagons as a design language, symbolizing order and connection, and explores how to use a new social logic to build a fair, efficient and stable future city in the context of abandoning family ties.

CRIME RATE DUE TO BLOOD RELATIONSHIP

THE

CRIME RADIATION

Physically: it will bring scars and torture

Psychologically: it will bring pressure and pain. No one lives for themselves. The brain is torn apart by the people and things around them.

THE INFLUENCE OF BLOOD RELATIONSHIP

"While families bring happiness, they can also cause many problems due to the ties of family affection, such as over-dependence control, emotional disputes, and even domestic violence. These problems may affect individual independence and freedom, and even lead to conflicts, which have a negative impact on the physical and mental health of family members and the harmony and stability of society."

Elderly Care Center: The elderly care center consists of single spaces arranged in a plane. There is no big height difference to facilitate residents to go up and down. Mobile community: composed of multiple personalized

‘The ground floor of the central control centre is the core nerve centre of the city, maintaining order and close ties. It is here that resources are fairly distributed through a transparent and intelligent system, ensuring that the value of each citizen's contribution is reasonably recognised. In a society that has abandoned the bonds of kinship, this is the place where order and peace are guaranteed, giving stability and continuity to the city's operations.’

The baby hall is a separate living compartment for young people who can already be independent, and the pink colour with a variety of flowers and herbs creates a positive and lively living environment conducive to the psychological growth of young people.

The base of the single unit for teenagers to live in has supporting stability, the top is a signal receiver, and there are energy airbags on both sides as backup supplies

New life is conceived in the care pods, where robots look after each baby with precise data.

One hexagonal body as the whole monolithic form is designed with glass windows to observe each picture gifted by nature. Retirement is not just about living, it's about enjoying the world as young people do.

What can we do for pregnant mothers?

2024 winter

Individual project

Location: Senegal

The purpose of this project is to shape communities through architecture, designed for the dignity of childbirth. In the Sedhiou region of Senegal, due to a lack of healthcare facilities, medical personnel, and proper sanitary conditions, many women lose their lives during pregnancy and childbirth each year. Based on this, we strive to design a place that is not only safe, healthy, and comfortable, but also centered around the community, empowerment, and respect for Senegalese culture. We aim to provide women with better care in a supportive environment while still having loved ones and companions by their side. Therefore, by incorporating the "embrace-like feeling" into this project, giving the appearance of a warm and welcoming embrace. The circle symbolizes inclusivity and warmth, while the square represents stability and professionalism, combining to create a welcoming and secure atmosphere.

The maternal mortality ratio in Senegal is 315 per 100,000 live births, compared to 534 for sub-Saharan Africa, on average. The child mortality rate is 45 deaths among

“I was extremely tired, and I couldn’t go to the hospital because couldn’t pay for the medicines that they would give me. It was very difficult for me to follow the prenatal consultations. After giving birth, spent two years being really tired, without a drop of energy, and had pain everywhere.”

When women can’t get to healthcare facilities or afford the care they need, they’re more likely to face potentially deadly pregnancy complications. For women in rural areas, the nearest hospital might be many miles away.

LEADING CAUSES OF MATERNAL MORTALITY

The infant mortality rate is also high because of the death of the mother.Even though the mortality rate has declined in recent years, Senegal still has a relatively high rate of maternal and infant mortality worldwide.

RENDERING: The indoor corridor is connected by a bamboo-structured wooden frame door. When the bamboo door is opened, it becomes an open space, and when it is closed, it becomes an emergency backup space.

The roof system connects the columns on the horizontal axis and the bamboo doors on the vertical axis, forming a roof that tends to float while allowing penetration. The roof system is slightly higher than the brick wall, allowing heat to dissipate easily, maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature.

[Blind Date Corner]

Individual project

Location: Dongguan

In the front view of the architecture's entrance, the overlapping curves are lofted into curved surfaces using curvy elements, including the Mobius strip and the silhouettes of mountain ranges. The Mobius strip symbolizes eternity, romance, and unending journey. Its positive connotations present good wishes for new couples.

This project is to be located at the Yuanmei Park of Dongguan, Guangzhou. The raised minimum age to marry in China is not just a phenomenon unique to the Chinese society but a universal phenomenon in the entire human society, a common trend after the tertiary sector of the economy appeared. The Sixth National Population Census of China further proved the emergence and evolvement of the phenomenon. Dongguan is the city with the highest percentage of single people in China. Utilizing the park's geographical location in the city, we established a matchmaking corner that breaks free from the traditional mode.

Dongguan is a central city of the Pearl River Delta in south-central Guangdong, one of the major cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, also nicknamed "the world's factory", with developed manufacturing and foreign trade industries and strong economic

Traditional matchmaking: Also called "parental matchmaking," it's an unorganized and informal way of matchmaking. The parents look for marriageable candidates for their children on their behalf at matchmaking corners.

Matchmaking out of free will: It means going on blind dates with freedom of love in mind and falling in love freely with marriage in mind.

Can’t art forms reach out to people?

2024 Summer

Instructor: Yingzhe Song

Individual project

Location: Paris,

Enjoying any form of art sounds implausible to a large number of people who have never experienced art physically or found an opportunity to build a relationship. From an artist’s perspective, pursuing any form of art as their means of livelihood for sustenance is a far-fetched dream.

Entertainers, dancers, painters and street artists use open public spaces for their performances. They have enabled the option of an exclusive form of interaction for the audience by offering art as an experience and expression. They have challenged the antiquated form of displaying art only in theatres by their performance. Their reach is bound by a lack of infrastructural support on performance locations or the disengagement of spectators with art.

Theater has a long history, from ancient Greek tragic comedy to Chinese opera, gradually becoming an art form that shows human nature and society. Theatre combines the multiple arts of performance, literature and music, and is constantly innovating, from the traditional stage to modern theater and film, adding cultural nourishment and emotional enlightenment to life.

there are over 50,000 professional theatre venues worldwide.

Summary: Drama has evolved from traditional stage performances to being presented to the public in the form of media. Changes in theater data from 2018 to 2023

REASON

Impact of theatre

There are four types of theatre: sitcoms, musicals, dance theatre and opera, each with its own unique appeal.

STAGE

The size, shape, etc. of different theater stages will be changed to achieve better results.

The site of this project is located in Paris, France, where theatrical influence is the greatest.

Since the 17th century, Paris has been famous for its many theaters and theater groups, where playwrights such as Molière wrote many of their classics.

The theaters of Paris are still the center of the dramatic arts, attracting playwrights and audiences from all over the world and promoting the diversity of the dramatic arts.

The site for this proposal was chosen based on the paths connecting all the existing types of theaters in Paris. The final result is an area with a high flow of people, both tourists and artistic performers.

The lamp post represents the stage wall, which not only creates the lighting atmosphere but also supports the height of the lighting.

RENDERING

When night falls, the lights illuminate the entire ceiling with brilliant colors. The surrounding vegetation seems to participate in the whole drama, and the whole environment is set off as if it is separated from the noisy city outside.

The base shaft can be effectively utilized in any scene under a single control. For example, a grandfather is reading a book in a square. At this time, the direct sunlight is not conducive to reading, and the bent down arm can be well shielded from direct light.

All the folding arms will form a temporary indoor space when knocked down, which can provide a temporary dressing room for the performers.

The indoor section is paired with lamp post seats that can be used not only for resting but also for placing items. The cover cloth on the outside is made of frosted material to increase the concealment in the space.

Okay, let's get a grip.

can't even imagine what a mess I'd be without this indoor space.

Time is running out. We must hurry.

When there are no performances during the day, the mobile stage unit can also be used as a landscaping vignette within the leisure plaza. The rotating seats in the center of the columns are unfolded and used as a resting place. The center of the square can also be used for individual performances.
