Dubai College Rugby 7s

The Tanglin Trust Under-16 squad enjoyed a successful and memorable rugby tour to Dubai last week.

The tour kicked off on Thursday evening under the floodlights at Tiger Park, where Tanglin faced both the Dubai Tigers Blues and Reds teams. The boys delivered outstanding performances, showcasing discipline, flair, and teamwork to secure convincing victories in both matches.

On Saturday, Tanglin competed in the prestigious Dubai College 7s tournament. They began strongly, cruising through the pool stages with confident and dominant displays.

The knockout rounds brought tougher challenges, particularly against a determined Kings College side. In a tightly contested match, Tanglin held their composure to secure the win and progress to the semi-final.

In the final four, Tanglin came up against the hosts and eventual tournament champions, Dubai College. Despite a spirited and resilient effort, Tanglin were defeated and exited at the semi-final stage.

It was an excellent tour overall, with strong performances, valuable experience, and memorable moments both on and off the field.

NIST Swimming Invitational

54 Merlions travelled to Bangkok last Thursday to compete at the NIST Falcons Invitational. The team spirit, camaraderie, and support — were outstanding. A real highlight was seeing buddy groups from Year 5 to Year 13 mix so naturally, sharing meals, chatting, and genuinely enjoying the experience together.

These trips are about far more than results. They teach resilience, adapting to new environments, self-managing nutrition and recovery, navigating a long 2.5-day meet, forming meaningful connections, and embracing a team-first mentality. I trust you all gave your best and grew from the experience.

Tanglin Infant and Junior Gymnastics Showcase

We wrapped up our Parent Showcase last week, and what an incredible week it turned out to be! Throughout the showcase, parents were invited to come along and see firsthand what their children have been working on - and many didn’t just watch, they jumped right in!

The level of parent engagement was amazing to see. Some bravely attempted the circuits and activities, others quickly realised just how challenging gymnastics can be, and quite a few found themselves racing their kids or trying to show off a skill or two of their own. The laughter, cheering, and occasional friendly competition made the gym feel more energetic than ever.

Most importantly, it was heart-warming to watch parents and children share these moments together. The kids were so proud to show off their developing skills, and it was clear how much it meant to them to have their families involved. Overall, the parents had just as much fun as the gymnasts (maybe even more)!

The Parent Showcase was a wonderful way to celebrate all the progress our athletes have made throughout Term 1. A huge thank-you to all the families who took the time to join us and help make the week truly special. We can’t wait to do it again!
