Pinellas, Pasco, and Hillsborough counties encompass the largest population density of our broader Tampa Bay region at 3.1 million residents. Population projections across these three counties by 2030 rise as high as 3.7 million.
The high demand for housing from this influx has led to an increase of close to 60% in residential real estate prices and close to 50% in rents in the span of four years since the start of the pandemic creating a market where affordable housing options, both for homeowners and renters, are in dwindling supply.
This report, made possible by generous funding from the Duke Energy Foundation, explores housing affordability insights taken from qualitive interviews with nearly 140 stakeholders throughout the tri-county region.
