GREETINGS FROM TAMARACK
As summer unfolds at Tamarack Resort, the energy across the mountain continues to build in exciting ways. From the shores of Lake Cascade to the fairways of Osprey Meadows and the trails winding throughout the resort, we are in the heart of another unforgettable season at America’s only ski, golf, and lake resort. This summer brought a milestone worth pausing on: Tamarack was named No. 1 on the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2026 list of Top Resorts in the Western U.S.
Readers of Travel + Leisure were asked to weigh every resort across the American West — a region with no shortage of established names and marketing budgets that far exceed our own. From that field, they chose Tamarack. Those same readers also placed Tamarack at No. 9 on the list of Top Resorts in the Continental U.S., ranking us among the top ten resorts in the entire country. What they recognized is what continues to make this place genuinely different: the only ski, golf, and lake resort in America, offered without the crowds or the compromise found elsewhere. That recognition is being reflected in other meaningful ways across the resort as well. Tamarack closed the first half of 2026 with more real estate transactions than any comparable period in the resort’s history — a powerful signal of the confidence buyers continue to place in Tamarack’s vision, and a reflection of the community steadily growing around what we are building here.
Down at the water, one of the most exciting milestones of the year has been the successful opening of the new Tamarack Marina on May 22. On the golf side of the resort, Osprey Meadows continues to build national momentum following its restoration and reopening. This year, the Robert Trent Jones II-designed course earned two major distinctions from Golfweek, being named Idaho’s #1 Public Course You Can Play while also receiving recognition as one of Golfweek’s Top 100 Resort Courses in the United States.
Beyond the events and amenities, what continues to make Tamarack special is the community forming around these experiences. One of the course’s most talked-about features is the one-of-a-kind 19th Gambler’s Hole known as “Double Down,” a par-3 designed specifically to settle wagers and create a memorable finish to the round. The course also features five sets of tees, a slope rating of 142, a full driving range, dedicated short-game practice area, GPS-equipped golf carts, private instruction, and an approximately 23,000-square-foot social and putting green — one of the largest practice greens in the region.
Beyond daily public play, Osprey Meadows has quickly become a centerpiece for summer tournaments, member programming, and community events at Tamarack Resort. Throughout the season, the course hosts a growing lineup of club tournaments, leagues, private outings, and championship competitions that continue to elevate the golf culture surrounding the resort. Official tournament events this year include the U.S. Amateur Championship Local Qualifier and the Idaho Women’s Amateur Championship.

Q&A: WITH TY BLACK, ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL
Q: HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INTO GOLF?
TY: I started golfing relatively late compared to a lot of golf professionals — around age 15. Hockey was my main sport growing up and something I played most of my life. Once I got into golf though, I really connected with it and stuck with it from there.
Q: WHAT DREW YOU TO THE GOLF INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALLY?
TY: I’ve always enjoyed the competitive side of sports, but golf also gives you the opportunity to meet people and build relationships in a completely different way. Every course and every day is different, and there’s always something new to learn. Being able to help people enjoy the game while working in incredible places like Tamarack makes it even better.
Q: TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND AND HOW YOU ENDED UP AT TAMARACK RESORT.
TY: I was born in Idaho at Mountain Home Air Force Base, but growing up, my family traveled around quite a bit because my parents were both in the Air Force. We eventually found our way back to Idaho, and this area always felt like home. Before coming to Tamarack, I worked at Eagle Bend Golf Club in Montana, Paradise Valley in Arizona, and most recently at Whitetail Club in McCall. My wife is from Donnelly and grew up here, so we already had strong ties to the area. We knew Tamarack was building something really special, and I wanted to be a part of it.
Q: WHAT HAS SURPRISED YOU MOST ABOUT WORKING AT TAMARACK SO FAR?
TY: Honestly, the sense of team and camaraderie here has stood out the most. Everybody genuinely wants to help each other succeed, and there’s a lot of pride across the entire resort. Chris Peterson and Alex Reves are incredible to work with, and the people here have been the best part. Of course, the beauty of the resort and golf course doesn’t hurt either.
Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO FIRST-TIME GOLFERS?
TY: Take lessons early, practice consistently, and stick with it. Golf is one of those sports where you’re usually not going to be good right off the bat, and that’s okay. A lot of people get discouraged too quickly. The more time you spend learning the fundamentals and practicing, the more rewarding the game becomes.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE HOLE AT OSPREY MEADOWS?
TY: Probably Hole No. 9. It’s a really fun and memorable hole visually, but it also demands a smart tee shot. My biggest advice is simple: hit it straight and avoid the marsh. If you can stay out of trouble off the tee, you set yourself up for a much better approach into the green.
Q: WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?
TY: My wife and I enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring the area. She’s a big reader and definitely enjoys riding around the resort in the golf cart. We both love being part of the mountain lifestyle here at Tamarack.
