Vigil held for missing Tallassee man By CLIFF WILLIAMS News Editor

The last time the family of Michael Thompson saw him was Sunday, April 21. Almost two months later family members are still holding out hope the 61-year-old man is alive but also understand the chances. “We are hoping to find him,”

sister Felicia Thompson said. “We are hoping he just needed a break but it is not looking too good. We are holding out hope.” Thompson was last seen leaving a family function in Eclectic. The family filed a missing person’s report with the Tallassee Police Department two days later. Thompson’s vehicle was found the next day in Macon County

Tallassee resident Charlie Webster will return to the rodeo ring as a clown at the Reeltown Rodeo July 4-5. It has been 35 years since Webster was in the ring and he has even built a new car for the act.

Webster is getting back in the rodeo ring By CLIFF WILLIAMS News Editor Charlie Webster might be an octogenarian but it’s not stopping him getting in the ring at the rodeo. Webster was 18 when he first rode his first bull at

the Reeltown Rodeo. After his riding days, he became a rodeo clown and retired a few years later. But July 4, Webster will return to the ring for the first time in 35 years to face a rodeo crowd See WEBSTER, Page A6

he Tallassee SummerFest was visible for miles. During the day a hot air balloon served as a beacon to the fun happening at Tallassee City Hall. Fireworks from the lake lit up the sky by night. There were pony rides, vendors and more. “It has been a great turnout,” Tallassee Chamber of Commerce executive director Jerry Cunningham said. “This has turned out well.” To combat the heat a large cooling station was in

the middle of the vendors. The tent provided shade and misting fans cooled the temperature. There was a watermelon eating contest for children, baking contest and pet cos-

tume contest. Adults shopped and visited booths of several different organizations. Children got snow cones and played on inflatables including a water slide.
