Two suspects arrested in Dadeville murder By CLIFF WILLIAMS Staff Writer

Dadeville Police Department investigators have arrested a second man in connection with the shooting death of one man and the injury of another last week in Dadeville. Officials say that 21-year-

old Daquan Denzell Sheeley of Jacksons Gap has been charged with murder. Sheeley was already in custody after being arrested Monday on a probation violation and failure to appear warrants. He was arrested on the murder charge Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., officials said. Bond has not yet

been set for Sheeley. Sheeley is the second man charged in the murder of John Farrell Adamson, 27, of Jacksons Gap in a Sept. 28 incident on Jah Street in Dadeville. Dazmon Notorious Shaw, 22 of Camp Hill turned himself in last Saturday and was charged

with murder. Bond has been set at $250,000 and he remained in the Tallapoosa County Jail Thursday. The arrests were the latest developments in the case after Adamson and 37-year-old Gerald Haggerty were shot on See ARREST • Page A3

Voters to get County approves $16.1 million budget say on property tax for schools By MITCH SNEED Editor

A proposal to initiate an additional 3 mil property tax for those who own property in the Tallapoosa County School District will be placed before the voters in the Dec. 12 Special Election for the U.S. Senate. The move to let the people decide was made possible after a 3-2 vote of the Tallapoosa County Commissioners Thursday. Commissioner T.C. Coley, who represents much of Alexander City where the sales tax was very unpopular, was called on to explain why the commissioners were obligated to consider a property tax increase for those in the Tallapoosa County School District. “When the commission approved instituting the 1-cent sales tax for schools, language was included that requires us to seek a more equitable source for added school funding,” Coley said. “So that’s what this is about. We will put it before the voters and let them decide. If See TAX • Page A3

Trent Carboni tabbed to be Tallapoosa County Extension Service 4-H agent By CLIFF WILLIAMS Staff Writer

An old face has taken a new position with the Tallapoosa County Extension Service as Trent Carboni has been named a regional extension agent for 4-H in the county. Carboni is no stranger to Tallapoosa County as he is a 2012 graduate of Reeltown High School, did an internship with the Extension Service in Tallapoosa County and has been an agent assistant in Tallapoosa County since graduating from Auburn with a degree in Ag Communications in 2016.

“We have been letting him hang out,” said the Extension Service’s Sallie Mason. “He is official now.” “We hired him as a 20-hour per week type position first,” Extension Service County Coordinator Shane Harris said. “We got some more funds and we liked him, so we kept him around.” Most 4-H agents in Alabama have two counties to work but thanks to the Extension Service Centennial program, Carboni will only work in Tallapoosa County, in part due to Harris’ growth of the 4-H program here. “When I came on as

We are now second in the state. We have 1,500 kids involved in 4-H in Tallapoosa County. All of the new programs helped get us here.” Harris and Carboni said the programs include RiverKids, sport fishing and shooting sports.
