Discover Notasulga showcases small town life By CARMEN RODGERS Staff Writer
Nestled between Tallassee and Auburn, Notasulga is archetypal small town America. Like many small towns in the U.S., Notasulga is a place where everyone knows their neighbor and you do not pass one another without offering a kind word or two. Where Tallassee is located in both Elmore and Tallapoosa counties, portions of Notasulga also occupy two counties, Macon and Lee. There are several likenesses between Notasulga and small town America. However, Notasulga is unique in it’s own way. These special qualities are what town leaders chose to showcase during the second annual Discover Notasulga event. This event is aimed at connecting people,” said Daryl Weldon, event coordinator. “Connecting people who may
not be from the area with the people here in Notasulga,” This event featured local businesses, such as the Turner Hat Factory and King’s Greenhouse, who were both on hand to meet with people and display merchandise. In all, over 60 vendors lined the streets and sidewalks of downtown. There was also a car show and live gospel music performed by local artists, “The Voices of Harmony” and “Family on Christ”. Local author Shirley A Aaron signed copies of her novel Sweet Tea With Lemon and her historical fiction book Troubling the Ashes in front of the old Anderson building. Notasulga’s own Gerald Robinson, who graduated from Notasulga High School and is a former Auburn and National Football League defensive end was also on hand. He played from 1986 See NOTASULGA • Page A3
