Jackie Robinson and her family suffered a terrible loss last Wednesday when the home they were living in on Hudson Place became engulfed in flames. The fire began under an outside awning that covered the only entrance to the home, trapping the occupants inside. Luckily help was only feet away.
This home on Hudson Place became engulfed in flames last Wednesday, displacing Jackie Robinson and her family. Luckily everyone survived the fire, except the family pet, Kaylee. However, the owners of the home say this could have been much more tragic.

Sherre Padgett Education Consulting Services – better known as SPECS – is an educational consulting company that is based in Tallassee and specializes in academic tutoring of levels pre-K through doctoral in all subject areas. The organization joined forces with the Auburn University Chapter of MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences) to host the first annual SPECSCON Academic AllStars Scholarship Readiness Conference, which showcased many of the top academic performers in the southeastern region, particularly in the state of Alabama. Participants were students in grades 9-12 with a GPA of 3.0 or above and a minimum score of 20 or 1020, respectively. The focus of SPECSCON was to provide information for young scholars and their parents for college preparedness and scholarship readiness, as well as offer the opportunity to engage

Thousands spend Fourth on Lake Martin

ake Martin seemed to be the place to be this week during the Fourth of July holiday. Many made an entire week out of the holiday, which fell on a Wednesday. Local restaurants on Lake Martin were busy all week and had little to no boat parking. As soon as one boat left another would pull in right behind it.
