With no igloos for elves or reindeer, schools shuttering, and trades in peril, Christmas itself is at risk.

’Twas the night before Christmas, up north by the Pole, But Santa was fretting—no igloos, no solar, no coal.
The elves were all stacked in a shoebox-like den, While visions of attainable igloos got vetoed again.
The reindeer were restless, with no place to stay, The NIMBYs cried, “Not here! Go away!”
And Santa in slippers, with plans in his lap, said, “If igloos get blocked, then we’ll all need a map.”
When out on the snowbanks arose such a fight, a meeting of elves shouting deep in the night. “A double-igloo? A town-igloo? Multifamily igloos? Oh no! They’ll ruin our views of the peppermint snow!”
The moon on the icicles hanging just right, revealed hand-painted signs: “STOP GROWTH—KEEP IT WHITE!...
