Welcome to our second online auction with AuctionsPlus and Bartholomew & Co. We’re delighted to be joined by Red Oak Santas and Rocky View Santas and are thrilled to have them participating in this year’s sale.
About Talgai Santa Gertrudis Max, Roz, and their family purchased the Robenlea Santa Gertrudis Stud and the property ‘Dingyarra’ at Toogoolawah in 2004. In early 2005, they rebranded the operation as Talgai Santas - Stud No. 1990. At the time, the Baldwins also owned Talgai Homestead at Allora, on the Darling Downs. Over the next two years, they expanded by purchasing two more properties in the Allora district, relocating their entire operation to the Downs. The agricultural enterprise has been expertly managed by Malcolm and Chick Gadsby for over 21 years. In 2023, Dan Banks joined the team, bringing additional strength and support to the operation. Following the sale of their Darling Downs properties, Talgai’s enterprise is base in the Nindooinbah area just outside Beaudesert. The stud program now includes 300 registered breeders, along with a significant commercial breeding herd and a hay production business. Stud operations are centered at ‘The Gorge’, while ‘Broadlands’, a neighbouring property - runs 550 commercial breeders (Santa/Charolais/Charbray/ Angus crosses joined with Santa Gertrudis bulls). In the commercial program, steers are raised to feeder stage, and heifers are either developed similarly or sold to commercial operations. We are proud to have achieved notable success, including Champion Pen of Feeder Steers at the 2021 Moreton Beef Classic Show & Sale, and another win for Champion Pen of Feeder Steers at the 2024 Beaudesert Santa Gertrudis Show & Sale. In 2025 at the Moreton Beef Classic Show and Sale – two - first places and a second place with home breed steers. 2026 Beaudesert Show & Sale – 1st – Pen of Heavy Feeder Steers and 2nd – Pen of Females suitable for breeding, these were also home bred. At Talgai, our stud breeding objective remains focused: to produce herd-improving sires for commercial cattle producers. Jamie, Malcolm’s son, and his family manage the cattle show program, collaborating with Boonah State High School’s Cattle Club to promote Talgai’s cattle at local shows and the Ekka — efforts we value greatly.

Sire Reference
TALGAI MILTON (PP)
Talgai Milton was retained for his strong resemblance to his sire, Strathmore F262 (PS), and is out of Talgai H1 (AI)(P). He displays a strong poll head, impressive volume and thickness, and a clean coat, all complemented by a quiet temperament. His progeny have performed well, with sons averaging $11,050 and reaching a top price of $26,000. We have retained daughters in the stud herd and sons for use in our commercial breeding program.
Rocky View Quake (P) was purchased by Mr. Barry Cronin, with Talgai Stud retaining shared use through a breeding agreement. Quake is a big-framed sire with exceptional thickness, a sleek tropical coat, a clean sheath, and excellent structural soundness.
ROCKY VIEW QUAKE (P) Woodmillar Sergio (PS) was purchased from the Woodmillar Santa Gertrudis Stud in 2019 at the Brisbane Valley Sale. He is a dark, polled bull with a strong poll head, good sheath, and plenty of thickness.
WOODMILLAR SERGIO Cooinda Turner T202 (PS) was purchased from the 2021 Cooinda Santa Gertrudis Sale. Foxy (Turner T202) shows thickness, a sleek tropical coat, a clean sheath, and excellent structural soundness.

Winning champion Pen of Heifers who also took out Champion Pen of Weaners Winning Champion Pen of Steers. These results are a real credit to the quality, consistency, and temperament coming through Kate’s cattle using Talgai Santa’s genetics. It’s great to see these cattle performing so strongly in the competition arena and drawing plenty of positive attention on the day. Boonah State High School Cattle Club and the Talgai Santa Gertrudis Partnership
Since 2023, Boonah State High School’s Cattle Club has proudly partnered with Talgai Santa Gertrudis, a collaboration that continues to provide students with outstanding opportunities to develop their skills and experience within the show circuit. Through Talgai’s generous support, including access to high-quality stud cattle, students have continued to prepare, exhibit and compete at local shows and major events, including the 150th Ekka. The partnership has enabled students to build their confidence and practical skills in halter breaking, grooming, leading and presenting cattle in the show ring. Students have also gained valuable insight into the stud cattle industry through industry presentations, breed classification and opportunities to work alongside experienced Talgai members. These experiences have strengthened students’ understanding of breeding standards, structure, temperament and what it takes to successfully present cattle at a high level. 2026 has been a particularly successful year for the partnership, with the Talgai and Cattle Club teams combining to achieve some prestigious results in the show ring. Talgai Versace was awarded Supreme Tropical Exhibit at the Rosewood Show, while the school’s steer Kevin was named Champion Junior Led Steer Carcass at the 150th Ekka- a fantastic achievement reflecting the preparation, teamwork and dedication of everyone involved. Through the continued support of Talgai Santa Gertrudis, students are developing not only practical agricultural skills, but also confidence, teamwork and a genuine passion for the beef industry. The partnership continues to provide experiences that students will carry with them well beyond their time at Boonah State High School.
TERMS & CONDITIONS 1. In the interests of, all instructions covering the delivery of cattle purchased at the sale must be given in writing and signed by the buyer or his representative. 2. A rebate of 3% will apply to outside agents introducing clients in writing to the selling Agents prior to the sale auction. Purchases must be signed off by the Agent. All Rebates will be strictly enforced. 3. We wish to point out to you, in your own interests, the position of a bidder at auction who purchases on behalf of another party. When this bidder discloses his principal after purchases, we stress that there is no obligation on our part to automatically send the account to this principal. The person purchasing the animal in the sale remains liable for payment under the ‘Conditions of Sale’. 4. All bulls are from Brucellosis and TB free herds. All bulls have been inoculated with 3 Germ Blood, Botulism, 3-Day, 7-1, Vibrovax and Pestigard. All bulls will have crush side motility, and morphology results. 5. Vendor Guarantee • Save and except for calves at foot, all BULLS are guaranteed breeders and to so prove within six months of the date of sale auction or by reaching the age of 30 months whichever date shall be the later. • Claims under the guarantee of fertility shall be made to the vendor within six months from the date of sale or prior to the animal entering a quarantine area other than on the vendor’s property. • All claims must be accompanied by a veterinary certificate which shall clearly identify the basis of the claim. • Infertility resulting from injury or disease occurring after the sale of the animal shall not be covered by this guarantee. •T he vendor retains the right to have the animal placed on a property nominated by him or returned to his own property for further assessment of fertility for a period not exceeding six months. In the event of the animal being proven fertile within the period, the costs incurred shall be borne by the purchaser. In the event of the animal not being proven fertile within the period the costs will be borne by the vendor. •E xcept for costs defined elsewhere in the conditions of sale, the liability of a vendor in respect of claims relating to fertility shall not exceed the purchase price of the animal(s) or to provide mutually agreed upon replacement animals. • In the event of a claim being substantiated and the purchase price being refunded, the animal(s) shall automatically become the property of the vendor and be returned to him or disposed of according to his instructions at his expense.

TERMS & CONDITIONS • This guarantee shall be voided by the purchaser if: (a) the animal is returned to the vendor (i) In poor physical condition or with any injury; (ii) Tests carried out on behalf of the vendor within fourteen days of such return proved positive to any diseases which may affect the animal’s fertility or ability to breed naturally; or (b) The purchaser has collected and stored semen from a bull. • In the event of a dispute as to whether a lot is a breeder, such dispute shall be resolved by the vendor and the purchaser; and the auctioneer, while he will use his best endeavours to assist, shall have no liability or responsibility in that regard. In the event that a lot is alleged or proved not to be a breeder, the purchaser shall nevertheless be obliged to pay the auctioneer the full purchase price and any other moneys or interest payable by the purchaser in accordance with the Terms and Conditions. 6. Insurance cover for all lots may be effected at closure of sale auction.
