Course Description
Establish yourself in fitness before you graduate from high school with this entry-level dual qualification. You'll be equipped with a broad range of knowledge needed to work as a fitness or exercise instructor.
The sport and recreation industry is forecast to continue its already impressive growth with job demand to increase over the next five years. Our teaching team have many years of industry experience and knowledge that will help you achieve your goals within the fitness industry. You'll have access to professional operating gyms with up-to-date equipment that will give you the edge and experience that employers want.
You will learn the basic knowledge needed to succeed in areas like fitness program instruction, provision of healthy eating information, and introduction of exercise for older clients. You may have a chance to specialise in different areas of fitness instruction.
Successful completion of this dual qualification will count toward your Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). It will also allow you to seek employment as a qualified exercise instructor, or in outdoor recreation centres

BYOD – Bring Your Own Device
The Robina campus is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) campus. The campus’s dynamic and flexible learning environments have been designed to encourage collaboration and interactivity through the use of portable devices such as laptops and tablets. BYOD will also encourage a reduction in paper usage and help reduce our carbon footprint, and well as help bridge the gap between on-campus and at-home learning, and enhance your customisation and personalisation experience.
To get the best education experience, your BYOD device will need to meet the following minimum requirements:
• portable device running Windows 10 or later (or MacOS 11 or later)
• access to a webcam and headset with microphone
• access to an up-to-date version of Google Chrome
• access to Microsoft Office software
• access to a reliable high-speed broadband internet connection when at home.
You can use your BYOD device to access:
• video and audio recordings
• digital learning resources
• complete online assessments
• participate in classroom discussions via online communication tools.
BYOD portal
In order to help students get the tools they need for learning, TAFE Queensland has partnered with JB Hi-Fi Solutions to offer our students a great range of specialised high-performance devices and accessories via the BYOD Portal. Devices available on the portal include discounted pricing, packaging, and extra inclusions such as extended warranties, software licences and fasttracked repairs.

You will need to have the following:
• Stationery such as pens, pencils, notebook and eraser (general stationery).
Recommended: that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player.

Parking and Public Transport
ON CAMPUS CAR PARKING
Students and staff can only park in one of the dedicated 198 TAFE Queensland car park spaces. The car park is shared with other organisations (Metricon and a Medical Centre) and is managed by an external contractor and registration recognition technology system will be in place. Please note that the contractor will issue fines for staff and student cars and motorcycles parked in non TAFE Queensland parking spaces and also if a vehicle is not registered to park in a TAFE Queensland space.
YOU NEED TO BE REGISTERED FOR FREE PARKING
Your privacy is important and only your registration details for the purposes of registration recognition technology will be shared with the car park contractor.
Electric Car Recharging Spots
There are 10 EV Charging Spots on campus for use by students, staff and visitors.
Off Campus Car Parking
Street parking is limited and adherence to time restrictions is critical to avoid parking fines(administered by the Gold Coast City council).
CBUS Stadium is offering student/staff parking under the VUE Building for $5 per day payable on entry. This carpark is approximately a 10 minute walk from the campus.
Train and Bus Travel
The Robina Train Station is a short walk (less than 5 minutes) from the Robina Campus. There are multiple bus routes stopping at the Station and also at the Robina Town Centre which is less than a kilometre away.

Coast City Council Interactive Active Travel Maps
An active travel app will be available by the time the campus opens. The QR Code for this will be displayed at the campus.
Active Travel Reward System
Stay tuned for details of the Active Travel Reward System – register your arrival on campus each day by bike, walking or public transport to accumulate your tokens to redeem products or discounts at the Seedpod Café.
LIME Bikes
From July you will be able to sign up with LIME Bikes (hiring system) using a QR Code. Sign up with your TAFE Queensland email address to receive a 20% discount on rides.
Course Funding
The Certificate II in Sport Coaching is a VET in School (VETiS) funded program so there is no cost to eligible students for this component.
What is VET in School (VETiS) funding?
The VET investment budget provides funding for students to complete one VETiS qualification listed on the Priority Skills List while attending secondary school (in Years 10, 11 and 12).
Qualifications are primarily at certificate I and II level and are those that have been identified by industry as leading to employment.
Prior to enrolment, TAFE Queensland Gold Coast checks all student eligibility for VETiS funding. If it is deemed that a student has previously used their VETiS funding they will be contacted and offered a position with the full fee for service price.
