Career Taster IT and Business
Program Description
This interactive Career Taster gives Year 10 students the opportunity to explore exciting pathways across creative and technology industries.
Students begin by stepping into the world of digital graphic design, learning how ideas are transformed into visual concepts. They’ll experiment with colour, layouts, and packaging, and take part in hands on design activities that bring creative ideas to life.
Building on these creative foundations, students move into screen and media, discovering how digital content is planned, filmed, and produced. They’ll gain behind the scenes insight into the media industry, including filming techniques and postproduction processes where content is edited and refined.
The program then shifts focus to the technology that underpins and protects our digital world, introducing students to cybersecurity, networking, and programming. This area highlights the growing importance of technology skills and how they are used to keep systems, data, and people secure.
Through practical activities and real-world examples, students gain a strong understanding of career pathways across both creative and technical fields.

Eligibility Criteria
To take part in the Career Taster program you must be 15 to 17 years old and either:
• Be a Year 10 student currently enrolled in a mainstream Queensland school, or
• Be enrolled in a Special Assistance School, or
• Be disengaged from school.
Resources Required
• USB or External Hard Drive
• Students must wear smart casual clothing and closed-in shoes.
• No midriffs, singlets, offensive logos, ripped clothing, short shorts/skirts, or open-toed shoes (e.g. thongs or slides).
Campus Facilities
The Coomera Creative Campus offers a range of courses including Graphic Design, IT, Cyber Security, Interior Design, Building Design, Music and Screen and Media. The facility offers the best creative learning experience in the region. The campus features a range of specialist facilities including MAC and PC labs, recording studios, digital video and editing suites, and a Black Box Theatre.

Funding
The Career Taster Program is fully funded by the Queensland Government and is offered at no cost to eligible Year 10 students. It is also important to note that this program does not use any of your VET in Schools (VETiS) funding entitlement.
