Angus
Ward’s Red
WELCOME TO OUR 18TH ANNUAL SALE!
As I write this welcome to our 18th Annual Bull Sale it is -37, and we are on our 5th calf born today. I think back to why we started raising Red Angus. My dad, Tom, got tired of pulling big exotic calves out of Herford cows & then putting the prolapse back in! He went looking for a better breed of cattle. He found Red Angus cows out in Alberta that were, moderate hardy and problem free. As a young kid I got to go along with dad on some of these trips and I learned alot. None of this happened with the thoughts of running a Purbred Angus Herd for 50 years. Jump to today, thankfully he got us in the right breed, at -37 the cattle have to be hardy.
Today after 50 years the cow business is on a strong roll, cattle are in high demand and beef is still King of the BBQ. All the Angus qualities both Red and Black possess are exactly what the commercial cattle producer needs. Here at our Ranch we raise hardworking consistent bulls, backed by highly maternal low maintenance no nonsense mother cows.
We live in the Bull business and you our customers are our top Priority. We stand behind the bulls we raise and are confident in our breeding program. Whether you need 1 bull or a trailer load, our track record of 80% repeat customers and 50 years of consecutively marketing bulls speaks for itself.
Thank you for sticking with us over the last half century, as many of you are long term generational customers and friends. Please consider this your invitation to attend our Bull Sale March 7th and celebrate 50 years with our family!
Clarke Ward
BULLS THAT THRIVE IN THE REAL WORLD!
Welcome to Wards eighteen annual Bull, where we will be celebrating fifty years of breeding Angus cattle. Fifty years of breeding Red Angus cattle makes the Ward family one of the true pioneers in the breed. Five decades is a huge milestone for a purebred operation, when you consider that the average life span of a purebred breeder in Canada is seven years. Programs like this that stand the test of time do so for two reasons, the cattle work for their customers and the breeders stand behind the cattle when issues happen. The Ward program provides bulls that are sound and built to last and Clarke’s phone is always on.
This year’s line up is one of the most consistent pens they have ever offered, whether you are looking for reds or blacks. Once again, we have a good selection of fall born bulls, the fall program was started to enable the Ward program to offer extra age bulls to work for the large grazing co-ops and ranchers that need bulls to go out in big fields of rough terrain and do a man’s job. The feed back on these bulls is that they do just that! The yearling bulls are the freshest pedigrees, out of the elite cows in the herd and will suit both purebred and commercial breeders alike. All Ward bulls offer a high degree of calving ease and maternal strengths. The cow herd behind them is proven and time tested… fifty years!
We would love to see you on sale day and enjoy some great hospitality and talk cows. Even more fun is talking high calf market and high cull bull prices. It truly is unprecedented times in the beef business; enjoy it you have earned it and deserve it for sticking with your cows. If you are unable to attend sale day, Clarke and Denise host an open house on February 21st. If you are unable to attend either feel free to call Clarke or any of us on the T Bar Team as we have been with the Ward family since the beginning of their very first sale and know the program well and would be more than happy to assist you in any way needed.

Copper was used heavily, not only with the heifers but on a number of the cows also. His combination of Muscle, shape, calving ease, growth with a phenomenal foot, are valuable traits. Very consistent set of bulls on offer in this sire group.
Wick has left us both females and Bulls that always find their way to the top of the pen. The consistency in his offspring is very evident combining the low birth rate to high growth with the rib shape and muscle. We love his daughters that are now producing, nice balanced udders. Only a few Wick’s on offer, and they are easy to pick out!
Jolt was a Sale Feature at our 2022 Bull Sale, we had the opportunity to buy him back and he is co-owned with Brownalta Farms in Alberta. He is an outcross bull sired by Red T-K Buckeye 81F and out of a top producing Erica Cow, 51C.
All of the Fall Born Bulls are sired by Jolt and all are stamped with his muscle pattern, dark hoof and possess his moderate birth to high weaning spread. These guys will get your heifers or cows bred and give you calves that come out easy and grow fast.
