HUNTER CHAROLAIS PRODUCTION SALE - EDITION 1

PRODUCTION SALE

to our Welcome Edition 1

It is with tremendous excitement that we welcome you to our first ever female production sale.

The History:

My dad Doug started into the Charolais breed way back in 1976 with his business partners at the time Reg & Ellen Robertson underneath the flag of R&H Cattle Co. They bought females from Mervin Reese just half an hour east of Roblin and that’s where our start into this great breed began. Marianne and Doug were married in 1985 and Hunter Charolais was formed at that point. As the years went they added help in the form of their kids Jimmy Kristi and Michael, with Michael being home full time now and Jimmy still being actively involved in the farm. Doug (dad) has always believed from its earliest point that AI was an unparalleled tool to access and move our genetics forward as an operation. We can joke about it now but thank goodness Marianne came along because Doug wasn’t the most proficient AI tech in the world. AI has been an integral part of our operation since the start and is so today. We have also been currently focusing on ET work trying to consistently improve our cow herd and duplicate the females that we think are ideal in their phenotype and genotype. The ET program is definitely on full display in this offering.

The cowherd:

We strive to improve the production and the functionality of our cowherd every year. First and foremost around here structural correctness is at the top of the list. Sound structure and correct foot structure can get you a long way in our opinion. Females that get out and travel while maintaining themselves is what we chase here at home. We love easy doing cows that are maintenance free. It’s our belief that structural correctness includes udder type. Udder type and quality is a trait we have worked hard on. Talking with Dad about the progress we have seen in the Charolais breed in the type and kind of female that we are making now has changed a lot in almost 50 years since he started. These females today are so much more functional, fertile and sound compared to where we started with this breed.

The offering:

We aren’t holding anything back in the offering. Every front end bred heifer is in the sale and the heifer calves were selected right off of the top of the program. There are seven lots directly out of our ET program. We will stand behind these females and look forward to the job they can do for their new owners.

Please do not be shy to call or text us ahead of the sale we will do our utmost to help you select a heifer or two that can help you achieve your goals

FROM THE DESK AT T BAR C

I’m very excited to welcome you to the first-ever Hunter Charolais female sale. I have known the Hunter family for more than 20 years, when I first had the chance to work with them at the Hi-Weigh Charolais Breeders Sales. Known for hosting a very successful annual spring bull sale, this program has only ever offered limited females until now. When the decision was made to host their first female production sale, it was decided that the very top of both the bred heifer and heifer calves would find their way onto the pages of this catalogue, and it’s exactly what you would expect.

The Hunter program has always been focused on performance, and they have never lost sight of the fact that the breed was built on supplying added performance to the commercial industry, making it King of the feed industry. However, they have been able to incorporate all the desired maternal qualities into their program along with maintaining performance. This cow herd is efficient and hardy with good udders attached to good mothers, making it as trouble free as possible. These females will add bulls to your sale pen at a time when the industry is short of Charolais bulls. The bred heifers are due early to proven calving-ease genetics, and the heifer calves will be competitive at any level.

The top cow families, including Lady Rain and Zelma are all represented in this event, giving you the opportunity to select from the heart of this proven cow herd’s genetics. Whether you are looking for one donor or a trailer load to start or expand your purebred herd, this is the sale for you. Proven cattle from a pioneer Charolais family whose entire agricultural operation is focused on this herd of cattle and the advancement of their program and the breed.

As always, if any of us at T Bar C may be of any assistance feel free to call us anytime.

Quality You Can Trust

The Tank x Lady Rain 904G mating has been absolute dynamite for us. Producing two of our bull sales high sellers HC Johnstown 113J and HC Missile 422M. Lady Rain 437M is one of the most intriguing females that we have ever produced here in Roblin. Sound on the ground, big middled and attractive fronted she is an easy find every day. Bred to the exciting Riptide we expect huge things out of this female. Reserving the right to one flush in this donor dam in the making. AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Lady Rain 410M is another Tank x Lady Rain 904G bred heifer that is an absolute beauty. She is super stout in a moderate package and is laying down a beautiful udder. Chris and I were arguing about which one of these Lady Rain full sisters was the best one, its extremely hard to pick them apart. AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Dam - HC Lady Rain 904G

3 Embryos

Only for our first ever production sale at home would we offer these embryos. I think of anything that we have offered in this sale this lot was the most heat I got from the family. The Mountaineer bull was one of the most talked about bulls this spring and for good reason. He was one of the most free moving, solid footed bulls we have ever found. We just loved how wide based, complete and balanced Mountaineer is. His dam is what we think of when we think of an ideal Charolais cow. Combine him with the great Lady Rain and I think the sky is the limit. Eggs are stored at Bovi-gen. Guaranteed 1 pregnancy if implanted by a certified technician.

The Tank females are really starting to make their mark around here. They have neat tidy udders and are just like wine, they just keep getting better with time. Silver & Gold is super feminine made female that is correct and sound.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

The dam of the lot 5 female 230K might be one of my favourite young cows around the place. She hit a home run out of the gate with this tank daughter and has a front end heifer calf again this year. She is super productive and the granddam 24H is super productive. White Glory is just one of those females that with her cow family track record we expect great things out of her. The white glory is one of the oldest cow families around the farm and one of the most productive AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on April 17, 2025. Preg confirmed.

The Zelma cow family here was started with the purchase of the Bridor Zelma 7Z back in the fall of 2013. There are 5 different Zelma’s in the book. The Zelma cow family has always been super productive, and consistently has put bulls and females alike into the front of our bull sale and into to various female sales. Including most recently the high selling heifer calf at the 2023 National Sale. Lot 6 & 7 are full sisters out of the original Zelma cow. They are big volume hairy females. The Johnstown bull is a full sibling to Lot 1 & 2. Combining the Lady Rain 904G cow and the Zelma 7Z cow is a recipe for success.

& 7:

Riptide 19H PLD on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Sire - HC Johnstown 113J

Miss is the result of buying embryos at the Sask Royale sale. She is one of the stoutest biggest volume females that we have on offer this year. You can’t help but admire how much rib shape she has while still being attractive through her front end. She has a beautiful head and is wide based. The resulting progeny from her service to the Tank is exciting to say the least.

AI Bred to Tank on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Dam - Steppler Miss 52G
HC Miss 420M
SIRE SOS JACKPOT PLD 158J

We added Default into the bull battery for how thick, hairy and easy doing he was. These are traits that he has without a doubt passed down into his progeny. Mary 445M is one the longest made females in the entire offering. She is strong topped and great hipped. AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 31, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Lovebird is one of the family favourites. She is big bellied, easy doing and has hair to burn. Her dam is a Downtown and the Downtown females have been cornerstone of our program for a lot of years. The Downtown influenced progeny are always easy doing, mellow, good footed cattle. These traits consistently show up when you can see his name in the pedigree. AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on April 18, 2025. Preg confirmed.

11

Montana 472M is one big powerful heifer that’s easy to look at. Her sire was the high seller in our 2023 bull sale and we have used him successfully in our AI program. The Kenworth progeny are definitely some of best performance cattle on the place. His sons were in high demand this spring and we are excited to get his daughters in production. The dam of lot 11 is also the granddam of lot 35. AI Bred to DC/CRJ Tank E108 P on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Our commitment when we decided to have this sale was we were going to sell our best bred heifers & heifer calves and that is how Tequila has made her way into the book. Conventional wisdom says we probably shouldn’t sell horned females but it’s hard to deny how good this girl is. She eloquently fronted, deep bodied and is setting down just a gorgeous udder.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 31, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Sire - HC Kenworth 242K

Notice Me Now

4165M

Notice Me Now 4165M is an ultrafeminine clean made Kenworth daughter. We are very happy with the udders that these Kenworth daughters are setting down and 4165M is for sure following suit. Her dam was a big volume easy doing female.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on April 18, 2025. Preg confirmed.

The old expression is a picture is worth a thousand words and Sweet Cream 4209M’s picture is an awesome depiction of what she is. She is a big volume, easy doing female that is super hairy. Her sire King Bolt was brought in to add performance and for his sound structure. Unfortunately after sustaining an injury after his first season here and no semen froze this is going to be his first and only calf crop. This one should probably be staying home.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 31, 2025. Preg confirmed.

HC Sweet Cream 4209M
Sire - HC Kenworth 242K

The Champagne cow family is one of favourites around the place. This cow family was founded with buying a flush in the great Rolling Acres Lizzie cow. Champagne 4147M comes to you in a moderate package, piles of rib shape and super clean fronted. We love her Ransom dam and flushed her this spring. Her grand-dam 498 is one of the family’s all-time favourite cows. She is still here at 12 years old, is perfect footed with a perfect udder at her age.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on April 19, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Hanna is a bit of a different pedigree up here in Canada. The WCF Silver Gun bull is a proven time tested performance machine in the states. He is in the top 1% of the breed for WW and YW EPD’s respectively. We sure love the feet on our Silver Gun progeny. Hanna is stout, attractive and sound in her make-up.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on April 21, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Zelma 460M is definitely a feature we needed to have in the sale. This is the only heifer in the offering that is bred to our walking bull Lakeview Legend 27K. We thought the quality that she represents and her cow family warranted her being in here. Her dam is no stranger to success with her having two other females that have sold and are working at GR Charolais and HEJ Charolais. A maternal sister to lot 17, is the dam of Lot 32A & 32B the choice heifer calf lot. We love how long and complete she is. Her dam is one of our very best Dual Threat daughters that has been in our flush program already.

Exposed to Lakeview Legend 27K. Observed bred May.13, 2025. Preg Confirmed.

The dam of this female is without a doubt our herdsman’s favourite cow on the farm. White Glory’s dam 613 is a moderate cow that never misses and always brings one of highlight calves of the year.

475M is a mellow easy to handle heifer that you really have to appreciate just how correct and deep bodied she is.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Double Dee

The Ransom sired cattle blasted onto the scene in the spring of 2020 and were some of the most talked about cattle that year. He has stood the test of time continually siring offspring that are functional, marketable and are extremely high quality. The dam of 438M is one of our best young cows. The grand-dam came from the good people at Wilgenbusch Charolais and has been one of our most consistent producing females.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 31, 2025. Preg confirmed.

bodied, square hipped and wide based. These Ransom females turn into front end females and we expect nothing less from Sugarland. Sugarland’s dam has one of the best udders of the entire operation.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 31, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Were very high on our Ransom cattle and we love the matrons that our Downtown females have become. Penny is a perfect example of why we love them. She is correct, long made and is setting down an excellent udder.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 31, 2025. Preg confirmed.

We love the udder type that our International 9355 daughters are exhibiting. Windy River is laying down a beauty udder and is angular and feminine in her design. International might be one of the easiest doing deep sided bulls we’ve ever owned and he can sure get out and move like a cat.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Bridget is one truck of a heifer! She is wide based, thick made with plenty of rib shape. We absolutely love the udders that the International bull is leaving us and Bridget is going to follow suit. She is great headed and will grab your attention as soon as you see her.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

The Wheaton cattle are making an impression on us around here at the farm! They are thick made easy doing cattle that are going to be extremely fun to breed. White Glory is so versatile on what you can breed her to and have success. She is sound on the ground and a big volume stout made female.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 31, 2025. Preg confirmed. Sire

Lacy is without a doubt one of the features in the sale this year. She is big ribbed, long made and really pretty to look at. We love this type of heifer, we think the options of what she can be bred to and be extremely profitable are endless. Her dam is your typical Ransom female, solid footed, has a beautiful udder. This cow family with every generation out does itself.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on April 19, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Keke is a front end calving ease type female. Her mother came out of HEJ’s first female sale and is a sound footed great uddered female. We love how thick made, sound and easy doing this female is.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

- Sparrows Wheaton 101J

Baby Face

Lots of stretch, length of body and performance in this Babyface female. She gets out and travels very soundly. Her maternal sister is in the sale as Lot 33. The Blackjack dam has an absolute beautiful udder and is extremely consistent producing female.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on April 22, 2025. Preg confirmed.

Cindy is the only Carbon Copy female in the sale offering this year. It’s no secret that the Carbon Copy’s make beautiful females. They have ideal udder types and they are constructed the right way for the times. Big volume, piles of rib shape that are extremely easy doing. Cindy exhibits all of these traits and is an extremely powerful made heifer with plenty width of base and hair to burn. The guess work is done with this female. Take her home sale day and let her make you money.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 31, 2025. Preg confirmed.

White Glory is one heifer that is definitely one of our performance females! Her dam is out of the old KCM Ultimate bull that left us a set of big volume females that knew how to out produce themselves. White glory is a long made, mellow female that is setting down a nice udder.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 31, 2025. Preg confirmed.

The Hardball bull was brought into the operation for his maternal backing of the great Wynnemaker 983W female and with her being crossed with Carbon Copy we thought the maternal upside was huge. We love our Hardball cows, they know how to raise a calf and do it in style with beautiful udders. The mother of White Glory is a long made cow that has one of the best udders on the place.

AI Bred to SCC Riptide 19H PLD on March 30, 2025. Preg confirmed.

The Hardball x Tank cross has been working just so well here. We love this female, she is built so nice. She is stout and wide based and when she gets into her front third she is so attractive and angular. Her dam has that trademark beautiful Tank udder and is super sound. We are super excited to see what this heifer has bred to the great Riptide bull.

We are super excited to offer the choice on these two outstanding ET Limitless heifers. These girls are right out of the heart of our embryo program. We love how powerfully constructed they are while being so attractive and feminine through their front third. They are deep bodied, hairy and strong topped. Their dam Zelma 372L is one of most exciting up and coming females. She has a wicked udder and is sound footed. Zelma 372L was Junior National Heifer Calf Champion 2023 in Brandon. I don’t envy the cattleman that has to make the choice between these two outstanding females.

The Lithium bull has made his mark in our program in a very short period of time. He is stamping his progeny with attractive skulls, piles of hair and making them stout and wide based. I am super excited for the spring to sell the Lithium bulls, they will be in high demand. Babyface is stout made, easy doing and excellent natured having been a 4-H project this past spring.

The only direct 7106E Georgia progeny in the sale and 514N is an absolute beauty! 7106E is the mother of the HC Kenworth 242K bull that has 3 daughters in the sale. We love the 7106E female, she is a large volume, massive ribbed female that has a huge solid foot underneath her. The cross of her big time performance with the style and attractiveness of the great LT Justified bull we thought was a recipe for success. Georgia 514N is soft made, square hipped, bold ribbed and rocket fronted. She is a great candidate for a junior project.

King Kong sired calves made some waves this past spring with several of his sons commanding top prices across the industry and making their way into purebred homes. King Kong has left us with a set of thick made attractive calves with plenty of hair. Montana is a great representation of this and is out of one of our very best Ledger daughters.

Champagne is one of the most intriguing females that we have on offer in the heifer calf section. She is just so soft made, big bellied and easy doing. She has a beautiful head and is out of one of the original Champagne females that we have on the place. Her dam has an awesome udder.

Sire - JWX King Kong 735K

This 2 year old female absolutely hit this one out of the park. We love the type and style of this heifer calf. She is super long made, square hipped and is sound on the ground. Take this heifer home for a 4-H project or take her home to produce bulls for your program. Either way I think she is going to do it, and do it extremely well.

Cindy is out of one of our junior herdsires here at the farm the CFC Summit bull. Summit has left us with a set of calves that know how to pound down the scale at weaning time and are sound and attractive in their makeup. Cindy 527N is extremely clean and attractive through her front end. She is long made and super sound on the move. Her dam is a heavy milking Dual Threat daughter that is a front pasture female.

When we decided that we were going to have our first female sale we got to work finding a bull to breed all of these heifers to. When the opportunity came up to buy the Canadian rights in the great Riptide bull we jumped on it. If you’re a number guy this bull definitely has them. Top 1% for calving ease, top 10% for BW ,top 50% for WW, top 30% for YW and top 3% for Milk. He is owned by the good people at the Doll Ranch in North Dakota. Visiting with David he said Riptide is perfect footed, calves heifers like a dream and you won’t be disappointed at weaning time. A Riptide son this spring commanded 40k at their bull sale. We are big believers in working with phenotype here before numbers but when you have both that is a big time bonus. He is an outcross to most pedigrees in Canada. This will be the only semen available on the open market for the 2026 breeding season in Canada.

We would like to welcome our guest consigners—Kreutner Farms.

Heifers Commercial Heifers

Tony and Inge immigrated to Canada in 1991 and have called Canada home ever since. They and their son Keven and daughter in law Hannah run 225 commercial simmental cows. They have a 60 day breeding period and start calving in early January. The heifers are run with a bull for only 42 days. They use Simmental bulls early in the breeding season to produce their replacement females and then the Charolais bulls finish up the breeding season. You could spend a week driving and not find a commercial herd with the same amount of power and productivity as the “ladies” have at the Kreutner’s. We have worked with Kreutners for 6 years as cooperators with us for our embryo program. There have been several high sellers and features through our sale that were born at their operation. They have been great friends of our family for a number of years. We are excited to have them consign some top end bred heifers.

Easy calving Simmental Bulls were put out March 25 and were pulled on May 11,2025. These heifers are on a full vaccination program and will have both vaccines for scours pre sale.
