WELCOME

It is always a privilege to work alongside families like the Kaufmanns. Keith and Linda, along with Shane, Keaton and the entire South View Ranch crew, represent the very best of the cattle industry. They are some of the hardest working, most genuine people you will meet and true salt-of-the-earth folks who take tremendous pride in their cattle and even greater pride in the relationships they have built with their customers over the years. The hospitality, honesty and integrity you experience when visiting South View Ranch are the same values that have helped this sale grow and remain successful for over a quarter century.

Running a large purebred herd in the often harsh conditions of southern Saskatchewan demands cattle that are built to last. The South View cow herd has been developed with a very practical mindset with females that are fertile, functional, easy doing and structurally sound with strong udders and good feet. These cows must work for a living, and only the most productive and efficient genetics remain in the program. It is this disciplined approach that continues to produce bulls with the kind of real-world traits commercial cattlemen depend on: calving ease, performance, longevity and strong maternal value.

The strength of this year’s offering is evident throughout the catalogue with an impressive and consistent set of bulls backed by generations of proven cow families. The powerful red sire groups are represented by cornerstone bulls such as Red Allison Paradigm, who is one of the very best bulls in the entire breed and walks here at SVR, and Ter-Ron Judo, another incredible breeding bull that is quickly becoming a legend in the making. The black section is anchored by impressive

herd sires like Musgrave Rob Roy 233-840, a calving ease and maternal-packed sire, Greenwood Home Town, a stud that reads extremely well on paper and whose production has exceeded expectations, and Vee Tee New Look 574H, an incredible bull whose sons are annually in high demand. These bulls represent as strong of a red and black sire lineup as you will find anywhere in the industry, along with several other complementary sires utilized within the program. Together they bring calving ease, muscle, structural soundness and the kind of phenotype that works in both commercial and purebred operations. The consistency seen throughout these sire groups speaks to the strength and uniformity of the South View cow herd.

More than anything, the cattle offered here are designed for the real world. That philosophy has been the cornerstone of the South View Ranch program for decades and continues to drive the direction of the herd today. As you study the offering, we encourage you to visit the ranch, evaluate the cattle in person and spend time with the Kaufmann family. Their passion for the Angus breed and appreciation for their customers is evident in everything they do. If any member of the Bohrson Marketing team can assist with your selections or answer questions about the offering, please do not hesitate to reach out. We look forward to seeing you at the ranch on April 2nd for what promises to be another outstanding edition of the South View Ranch Bull Sale.

Best Regards, The Bohrson Marketing Services Team

WELCOME

Welcome to the South View Ranch Bull Sale.

It has been my pleasure to work with the Kaufman family for nearly two decades. Over that time, I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand the dedication and integrity they bring to their program. Running a large purebred Red and Black Angus herd in some of the harshest conditions found in southern Saskatchewan, the Kaufmans have built a cow herd that is functional, durable, and proven.

Cattle raised in this environment must work for a living, and only the most practical and productive genetics rise to the top. The bulls on offer today are a reflection of that philosophy—sound, calving ease, and strong maternal genetics backed by a program that stands behind what they sell.

On behalf of the Kaufman family, I’d like to thank all the buyers, bidders, and supporters who continue to make this sale a success. We appreciate your interest and hope you find the kind of bulls that will move your program forward.

REFERENCE SIRES

Red Allison Paradigm 74L was the lead off $115,000.00 high seller from Allison Farms 2024 sale. Just as impressive today as he was the day Shane and Lex stopped and toured, and he has been as impressive every day in between. Shane knew we needed to own him, he was buying Paradigm, he knew he wouldn’t be a bargain as many people likely found this good one. Sale day rolled around at Allison Farms and we were trying to come up with a budget, not sure we ever did as we just bought him. We are sure glad we did; the best purchase we have made to date and the best sire group we have ever had. 31 Paradigm sons highlight this year’s offering. Paradigm is the ideal herd sire with his exceptional structure, soundness and great phenotype. Paradigm combines great muscle expression, depth of body, balance, and easy fleshing ability. Paradigm stands on an exceptional foot and is a great balance of performance and calving ease. Paradigm without a doubt sired the most consistent calf crop that we have ever had. One will drive a lot of miles to find a sire group as consistent as these Paradigm sons. He is a true breeding bull that stamps his progeny with consistency, eye appeal and structural soundness and fleshing ability, the kind of herd improving quality that drives profitability forward.

Red Allison Clash 13K is noted for his exceptional breeding ability, muscle, bone, testicle development, foot quality, and performance. We bought a semen package on Clash to add all these traits and he did just that. We are extremely pleased with his sons this far. They are big bodied, have adequate muscle and are easy fleshing. They have plenty of jam while still maintaining a fancy look and plenty of style. His daughters are built the same with lots of muscle and shape with a good look. We have calved heifers out of him and are impressed with their udders and maternal traits.

Red Ter Ron Judo 56J is a moderate framed, dark red, hairy, stout made bull. He is full of muscle and is very much calving ease. His calves are stamped with the same hair, muscle, and calving ease that are extremely easy fleshing. His daughters are very consistent with strong maternal instincts and good udders. We are very please with the production of his daughters. Judo himself stands on perfect or as close to perfect of a foot you will find.

Pictured: Top Left - Red Allison Clash 133K - Top Right - $$90,000 Son sold to Canadian Sires - Bottom Left - $67,500 Daughter sold to Yeguada El 3 - Bottom Right - $15,500 daughter sold to Allison Farms

Red LV Capital 62K is a proud looking, phenotypically correct bull that is stout, soft made, and easy fleshing. He adds an extra look and eye appeal to his calves. We are calving out his heifers this year and very pleased with their production so far.

Rob Roy 233-840 is a bull we selected out of the Musgrave Angus program from Illinois. Rob Roy is a powerful, eye-catching herd sire standing on a very good foot, he is structurally correct, deep bodied with a commanding presence. Rob Roy represents the power and calving ease with a spread of just +0.8 birth EPD to +79 weaning and +136 yearling, now that is very impressive and you will see it in his sons as they are low birth, calving ease bulls with tremendous performance. Rob Roy stamps his calves with consistency and the kind of phenotype to stand the test of time.

Red RREDS Seneca H062 This is a bull that looks awesome everyday of the year. He is super easy keeping, good footed, and huge middled, His sons are moderate birth weight bulls with tons of muscle, and a good look. The Seneca sons are one of the most consistent sire groups in the offering this year. His daughters are very intriguing and continue to check off all the boxes.

S A V Checkmate 8158 Checkmate is a bull we decided to AI to, a bull that combines calving ease with excellent performance. Breed him to cows they have the power and growth, breed him to heifers they calve easy and grow. His sons are stout made, easy fleshing bulls with eye appeal. The daughters are at the top end of the replacement pen.

SOUTH VIEW REFERENCE

Pictured: Red RREDS Seneca 731C - Sire

N7 Flat Top 151J is a bull that as a yearling had tremendous herd bull character. Very long bodied, big topped, deep ribbed, easy fleshing and excellent feet. Flat Top is big scrotalled with calving ease. We have used him on first calf heifers for four breeding seasons, and his calves are moderate at birth with good vigor and excellent performance. Daughters off Flat Top have square udders and great motherly instincts.

Vee Tee New Look 574H New Look is a moderate, stout made, easy fleshing bull we purchased from the VT program. He is a bull that will moderate birth weight. His sons are deep bodied, easy fleshing, moderate birth weight bulls that are consistent. His daughters are moderate framed, easy fleshing females with neat, tidy udders. Unfortunately this will be the last group of sons to sell off New Look as we lost him this past summer.

New Look Son - SVR 464N

Greenwood Home Town JJP 61H Home Town is a bull we purchased from Greenwood Cattle. He is extremely long spined, deep sided and soft ribbed. Home Town is backed by an awesome cow, 23D and his sire Natural Law surely needs no introduction in the angus breed. Home Town’s sons are long, stout and very good haired with lots of bone. Home Town has met the expectations of what a herd bull should look like in our eyes.

HBH Vision 50J Vision 50J is a long bodied, well-balanced bull. Siring moderate birth weight with good performance. We are very pleased with his progeny with a solid set of sons and daughters.

In 2019 we purchased a pick of Rhodes Red Angus heifer calves in Denver with our friends at Cockburn Red Angus. We got visiting and since she has been producing very good, we decided to flush her. We have 1N and a full sister from the flush that is among the top of our replacement heifers. 1N is a masculine, easy fleshing, sound structured bull, dark red and big footed. With a mother and a sister like his, you will love the daughters he leaves you. He posted a 205-day weight of 750

Not to mention the strong maternal side to him, his mother is a dark red cow, with a nice udder and extremely fertile. SVR 48G was reserve champion Red Angus female at Stockade Round Up. Better yet her grand dam is the great SVR 140A cow, who is a CAA Elite dam that has been an incredible producer raising herd sires that have went to respectable breeders. She has raised good functional daughters working in our herd. 4N is a calving ease bull with some power and punch with an

The bull feeding program is built to maximize forage utilization, gut health and as a result quality sperm production. Nutritional status of a bull, particularly from the previous 60-days can affect the semen quality being ejaculated today. Sperm production is a continuous process and proper nutrition is critical to maintain peak fertility and longevity of bulls. Bull calves are generally developed on grass with their moms on a quality mineral program.

Once bull calves are weaned, they are slowly moved onto a balanced TMR. The bulls are challenged with a forage-based TMR to help them develop and express their genetic potential. This is important for consistency of maturation and puberty of bull calves. Sampling and analyzing forages are important for properly balancing the overall ration.

Forage quality and digestibility are important for maximizing ruminal health. Matching suitable protein sources with proper starch with the available forage sources is key to promoting lean muscle growth. The addition of organic minerals are used to ensure proper immune function and overall health of bulls. All of these factors contribute to semen quality and conception within a herd.

I wish you all the best on sale day!

If you have any questions about the nutrition program, please feel free to reach out. Buy with confidence knowing the bulls have been developed on a balanced nutrition program.
