Welcome to our 10th annual Steppler Farms female sale and celebrating 50 years raising Charolais! We look forward to hosting you at our farm on December 17.

Thank you to our valued customers for your confidence and support over the years, we are so grateful. It seems we can never escape the mud around here and it never fails that we end up with a snow storm or rain before picture day, so please excuse the mud on the heifers!

Andre and I along with our 3 children take pride in owning and operating Steppler Farms where we make our living raising 6-700 Charolais, Angus and Simmental cows. We are raising the next generation of beef producers who continually push us to keep moving forward in this industry.

We would like to thank our herdsman Austin Richard who has been with us for 3 years now and has been an incredible addition to our farm team and family. We appreciate his enthusiasm, hard work ethic and positive attitude and feel fortunate to have such a wonderful young man working with us! We are excited to introduce our newest member Connor Oakes who will be starting full time in the spring; he is a keen and hardworking addition to our team.

Our offering this year represents the top end of our replacement females-females that have been selected for performance and will go out and work for the industry. Delivery

Steppler Farms will assist with delivery to central points in Canada to a maximum of 200 km at a cost of $75 per animal. Delivery is at the seller’s convenience, but will be as soon as practical. Extra costs are to the account of the purchaser. All risk is assumed by the buyer.

Late Delivery

We understand not everyone calves in January, and we are willing to calve your purchase for you. Inquire for more details.

Export Costs

Export tests and paperwork will be done by Steppler Farms, but all costs will be the buyer’s. Steppler Farms will deliver the purchases to the U.S. border upon completion of documentation.

Welcome to the 10th annual Steppler Farms Female Sale. As we celebrate a decade of female sales from one of the largest purebred Charolais herds in Canada, we are also celebrating a beef cattle market that is booming. Finally, after more than 2 decades in a market that has not kept up with the rising cost of production we have seen a correction. This catalogue is filled with opportunities to select females out of proven cow families that are responsible for one of the largest and most successful bull sales in the nation.

This rising market is fueled by a shortage of supply in feeder and butcher cattle; there is also a shortage of supply in purebred Charolais females available on the market especially in bred females and even more so young proven cows. The females available in this sale not only represent the very best cow families at Steppler Farms but also represent the top sires working here as well including the 2024 Agribition Champion bull Throttle. This program has always searched for top sires and has been willing to invest heavily in those sires and this is your chance to own a piece of those genetics.

Juniors - there are great opportunities to select your next project alongside their mothers in this sale. For breeders of all ages that want to add females that will clip a coupon and put bulls in the sale pen or start their very own cow family you can’t go wrong with any of these bred females on offer. Furthermore, there is genetic opportunities out of the past Agribition high selling female Gabby. This cow has gone on to be a productive money maker for her owners, and her embryos come with no guess work, or you can instantly own your own Gabby with her daughter selling as lot 6.

People who have bought out of the first 9 female sales have enjoyed great success with their purchases. Buying cattle from a large cow herd with limited labor resources ensures that these females know how to mother and raise calves without you looking over them and assisting them every step of the way. Our genetics are consistently challenged in the commercial industry and we have made great strides in increasing our customer’s bottom line.

When we do come across a direction that doesn’t follow this mission statement, we aren’t married to those genetics. We feel it is equally important to cull genetics that don’t work in the commercial industry and move forward. The females on offer each year are a beaming example of our program.

Coming from one of my favourite cow families that links all the way back to one of my purchases from the Harder Dispersal sale - HFCC 77N - truly a cow that I wish I would of flushed to see her true value 20 years ago. This cow family has always had that extra roughed look, character fronted, with all the fundamentals exhibited at that high level. At the time of weaning, we had no notion of selling this pair, but after a bit of arm twisting, we decided to feature this fancy show heifer 125N and what better way to show how she will turn out by offering her young dam as well, with the added bonus that she is bred to the 2024 CWA Grand Champion Charolais Bull and CN Top Ten Finalist - Beck’s Throttle 201K! Not only does she come from the long lasting Why Not cow family, she’s bred to 2024 CWA Grand Champion Charolais Bull and CN Top Ten Finalist - Beck’s Throttle 201K, and her calf is a daughter out of our junior herdsire, Sparrows Larder.  The value of this bull could be unmatched, with a huge presence in the bull pen at home, muscle, top, and hair. Where to start!!  Gabby has truly been that all around GOAT for us here at Steppler Farms. She has built quite a resume. Gabby started as Brynn’s 4H and Junior project and man did they ever make a great team, pulling banners wherever they went. Then she laid down and had Timber, the Charolais President’s Choice Bull calf at 2022 CWA and our 2023 high selling bull to Highway 21 and Letiak Charolais. Then I convinced Brynn that we needed to sell her to help promote what Steppler Farms had to offer and there’s only one place to do that - CWA. Once the hammer dropped, she sold and was the high selling female to our great friends Stacey and Chad Mathies, with the honour of managing this great female to this day. Here’s the sale feature and the first female I would buy out of this sale. It pains me to sell her, but it must be done. This will be 1 of only 2 chances to invest in a live offering of the 2024 CWA Grand Champion Charolais Bull and CN Top Ten Finalist - Beck’s Throttle 201K.  Throttle was admired by all; unmatched muscle, structure, size of foot, smooth homo polled head, herd bull character, PAF, backed by a maternal powerhouse. The type of bull you just cannot find very easily. 463M is a true example of what Throttle can do. This big capacity, sweet fronted, foundation female type is only an April heifer and has bred up way along to one of Canada’s 2024 Top Selling Bulls - Sparrows Constanza 440M - muscle, top, and hair.  What an opportunity here and as I finish up this footnote, I am questioning what I am doing selling this female.

“Fruition” the point at which a plan or project is realized. 26K is a plan that has come together perfectly. A truly unique calving ease prospect with a great look and all the extras. Fruition is soft through the center of his body and through his heart and transitions into a perfect shoulder placement with an attractive head and neck. For being a calving ease bull he has an abundant amount of presence and natural muscle that carries over his top and through his lower quarter and hip. 26K also boasts an impressive set EPDs while being in the top 10% for BW and CE and top 20% for WW. However the icing on the cake might be the cow family backing him up. Stemming from the Annabelle cow family that has been maybe the most productive and profitable we have ever had and continues to excel. We had 8 natural calves sell out the Commissioner Annabelle cross in last year’s sale that were very well received. OUR PROGRAM

Production and efficiencies are very important on our farm. We have a short, intensive breeding program. All females are AI bred for efficiencies and calculated matings. We try to get 95% of the cows exposed in the first cycle with a 70- 75% conception rate. Correct, accurate nutrition, high quality semen, and time invested in heat detection and inseminating are the keys to achieving this target. Once the cows go through the 28 day AI program, the herd bulls go to work. Since most of the cows have conceived already, the herd bulls are ultimately clean up bulls. The mature bulls easily travel throughout the last 32 days of the breeding program. All females are pregnancy checked early in the summer and culls and opens are taken out.

We maintain a high and rigorous herd health regime as outlined below. This enables us to have a successful breeding program and ensures potential buyer the high health standards of these sale cattle.

TERMS OF SALE: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association unless otherwise stated. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

PEDIGREE ESTIMATES: Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated calues that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

HEALTH: The health of the herd is excellent. All cattle in this sale is free from disease or defect to the best of our knowledge. We guarantee that all sale cattle will ship to Canada or mainland United States. All cattle are on a full herd health program. Our veterinarian is available for consult upon request.

GUARANTEE: Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Charolais Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

INSURANCE: We cannot stress strongly enough the importance of insuring your purchases immediately following the sale. Your purchased animal is your sole responsibility as soon as the sale concludes.

ERRORS: All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue.

LIABILTITY: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co.
