Welcome to the second edition of the Leahy Select Simmental Sale. Thank you to everyone’s support, interest, bids, and purchases in our inaugural sale last year which was truly humbling. We are building on our success from last year, and digging deeper in our offering to present a cross section of what the Simmental breed has to offer.
We run a herd of Fleckvieh and Purebred Simmentals, as well as a Shorthorn herd. The Leahy family has utilized Simmental genetics since the early 1970s, and have always appreciated them for their growth, performance, docility, milk, and maternal attributes. These are profitable traits which stand the test of time.
Our sale offering this year reflects our herd. We lead off with our Full Flecks, featuring a very top quality polled bred heifer, and several polled and horned herd sire prospects. Our black heifers and bulls feature breed leading AI sires and an emphasis on structural quality, sound ness, and maternal ability. We round off with a powerful red blaze bred and fancy red show prospect, both of whom are backed by very strong maternal lines and have a lot to offer.
We will again be featuring consignments from the Pearson family at Academy Hill Livestock. They are great friends and have been very dedicated to the advancement and promotion of Simmental cattle in Ontario. They consistently pursue cutting edge black genetics, and the presentation of their cattle is always second to none. Their consignment last year was well received, and their offering this year, be it in show prospect, bred heifer, or herdsire, is of great quality.
We will again be using an online sale format which will be available at DLMS.ca. Watch for updated photos and video to be upated to the site, or you can contact us directly for further information. We are glad to tour you through the sale offering and our herd at any time, and the sale cattle will be on display at the farm on November 19-20. Please feel free to contact Ben Wright or any of the staff at TBarC Sales Management with any questions. They are familiar with the offering and our herd and would be glad to handle any inquiries.
We hope to see you in November,

We at T Bar C are proud to welcome you to the Second Annual Leahy Livestock Production Sale with Academy Hill. Patrick Leahy is a very keen, astute young cattleman with deep roots to purebred livestock as well as the area they call home in the Douro Township. The Leahy family breed cattle in an ideal form, with heavy emphasis on eye appeal and longevity.
The very successful offering from the inaugural sale in 2022 heavily mirrors this years offering. The Full Blood bred heifer that claims the Lot 1 title is extremely unique in her makeup, with excellent colouring to fit with the demands of today. The selection of open females are the from the top sort at Leahy’s, this is a group that will impress. After last year, expectations were guaranteed to be high in terms of the quality of bull calves, and this years offering not only meets but exceeds this demand. Herd bull shopping at this time of year can be the most cost-efficient compared to the Spring, and you can ensure you are getting the best. With more bull calves born at the Leahy operation this year, only the best qualified for a Lot number in this offering. They meet all the credentials for calving ease, colour, thickness, and docility.
Included alongside Leahy’s are the entries from Academy Hill. The Pearson family are veterans to the Simmental breed, and have some outstanding baldy prospects within these pages.
As always, please contact us at T Bar C with any questions you may have regarding the offering, as we are quite knowledgeable of this great young family’s program.

1. Visit https://farmgatetimedauctions.ca , click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account. It allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots, or someone challenges your proxy bid. This is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number.
If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions, simply enter your username and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions. Select the LEAHY SELECT SIMMENTAL ONLINE PRODUCTION SALE.
2. You can choose your favourite lots in the sale at this time. The program will allow you to open either all sale lots, or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list, you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.
3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you. But if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again, or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.
4. At closing time of the sale, the entire sale will extend bidding for 5 minutes if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after 6 PM will extend the sale by 5 minutes, from the time of that bid. When no bidding occurs for 5 minutes, the computer will declare the sale finished.
5. Within 24 hours of the sale close, the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/pick up of your lot.
If you require assistance with using the new DLMS Farm Gate web site, if you don’t understand how to create a favorites list or proxy bid, or you just plain want to bid via phone, please talk to any of the DLMS team.

was sourced from the great folks at Mar-Mac last fall and wow has she ever impressed. She calved herself, is great maternally,
right away, kept good condition, and weaned off a real impressive heifer. Kasey looks poised to follow in the footsteps of her mother, but with a touch more style to her. This is a real balanced heifer - Kasey has tremendous volume in her centre third and great width of base, yet is clean in her lines, moves freely, and has loads of femininity though her front end. To top it off, she’s quiet, kid show broke, and should be a lot of fun next year!
neat package here. Long bodied, great front-end expression, big barrelled and lots of muscle to round it off. Kate’s dam was sourced from Rendezvous Farms as the high selling female in their 2021 Bull and Female sale, and has impressed many with her power, udder quality, and overall presence. Kate looks to be carrying these traits forward, with a little extra refinement and extension from her sire PLL 4F who has left us with several quality calf crops before going on to work for Jack Larabie of Kemptville. If you’re looking for predictable maternal ability, mark this girl down. Quiet and show broke, she could be a real contender next year, and note with her Valentine’s birthday she will land in that desirable younger heifer split.
