FROM THE DESK AT T BAR C
LEAHY’S GONE LIVE! It is with great pleasure that I, on behalf of myself and T Bar C, welcome you to the very first live Leahy Select Production Sale. This milestone goes a long way in representing the progressive approach Patrick has taken when it comes to his herd’s growth and development, without sacrificing the family’s long-term commitment to function, quality and longevity.
The Leahys have brought forward a very diverse and exciting range of promising standouts once again. The genetics here are an accumulation of hard work, patience, and a good eye for great cattle. They have gone the full nine yards, offering their top Simmental, Angus, and Shorthorn genetics - these pedigrees are full of promise.
The Leahys are joined this year by Roger and Helen of M&L Cattle Company, who are offering Full-Fleckvieh Simmental heifers and cows, and Full French Charolais females and bulls, including one of Roger’s very own proven herd sires! This is your chance to get your hands on proven outcross genetics – opportunity doesn’t knock twice!
Our next guest is no stranger to this sale – John and Kathy Pearson of Academy Hill Livestock. Their offering was brought forward with both the Purebred Breeder and Commercial Cattleman in mind. These heifers are balanced, clean, and smooth-made, and both carry AI services to the newest Simmental sensation, IRCC Double Bar D Kaboom 205K. And lastly, we are joined by Armstrong Angus, offering a registered Simmental/Angus heifer as well a purebred Angus heifer for your appraisal. These ladies are functional and attractive candidates for both the breeding pen and the showring.
I strongly encourage you to study these animals very carefully – there is something here for every program. Purebred and Commercial Cattlemen alike have been kept in mind with this offering. Please consider this your invitation to join us for this exciting opportunity. If I or any one of the T Bar C sales team can be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to give us a call.
See you in Douro, BEN WRIGHT

Welcome to the 5th edition of our Leahy Select Sale. What started out as a small online offering has grown, and this year we are proud to offer a larger, live auction format.
The cattle business finds itself in an excellent position to restock, whether that is with a new herdsire, bred heifers, or replacement females.
As always, we are offering functional cattle that should go home and work well for you. We value soundness of structure, fertility, maternal ability, and long-term practicality.
We have a variety of cattle on offer from several reputable herds. We are pleased to be joined again by Academy Hill Livestock, and welcome our Friends at Armstrong Angus.
This year, we are featuring a quality set of Full French and Fleckvieh cattle from the Maloneys of M&L Cattle Co. as they make their return to the purebred market.
Both the Leahy and Maloney families are marking a major milestone this year, as they both began raising cattle in Douro township in 1825, and have raised cattle here ever since. For two centuries, the cattle business has sustained these families, and with that comes an appreciation for the functional traits of longevity that continue to endure. Of special note, on offer are two excellent dark red Shorthorn bulls marking 200 years of continually raising Shorthorn cattle for the Leahys.
We invite you to come out on an October 26th to appraise our offering, and partake of hospitality and some excellent music to follow.
Don’t hesitate to contact ourselves or any of the knowledgeable sales staff with any questions.

Beautifully patterned in a neat blaze package, this striking heifer would look excellent on the end of a halter next year. The Fleckvieh Radium females have been excellent cows for us, and make for a unique outcross opportunity when combined with cutting edge purebred genetics.

LOT 6 - PLL Ms Amber 13N
We had the opportunity to purchase a set of females from the momentous Rendezvous dispersal last fall and we were not disappointed. Explosive in design and powerfully made, this heifer will be a unique breeding piece, and is a strong follow up to her three-year-old dam’s first calf, who fetched $14,000 last fall as a bull calf.

A true favourite in the bred heifer group, this one is hard to let go. Like the other Kodiak progeny, she is thick made and easy keeping with tons of rib shape, moves well, and strides out in a well balanced hoof.
Fertility is baked in here from a potent cow family. Bred to PLL 8M for an early May calf.
Exposed to PLL Matador 8M from July 1 to September 15, 2025. Observed bred July 18, 2025. Preg Checked 60 days in calf September 20, 2025.

AI Bred on March 30, 2025 to the exciting IRCC Double Bar D Kaboom 205K (Sexed Female)
This is a forward-thinking mating with strong earning potential. Halter broke and ready to step into your program and make an impact.
Consigned by Academy Hill Livestock

Long-sided, smooth made, and built with longevity in mind, this W/C Night Watch daughter brings a quiet disposition and plenty of maternal promise. She’s halter broke, feminine through her front, and shows the early signs of a well-structured udder with ideal teat size and placement.
AI Bred on March 28, 2025 to IRCC Double Bar D Kaboom 205K (Sexed Female) - a mating designed to stack consistency and profitability into your replacement pen.

Full Fleckvieh Fullblood. Polled. Non-Diluter.
MILLIE has been a standout since birth. She is a long, thick easy keeping heifer with excellent feet and is developing a very level, uniform udder with optimum teats. She has an outstanding EPD profile to boot. I have been impressed with both the Black Gold and Sunny Valley genetics and John (Antrim Simmentals) bought some of the top performing bulls in their contemporary groups.

LOT 15 - Simmeron Loretta 19L
Full Fleckvieh Fullblood. Non-Diluter.
Right or wrong there is a tendency to look at pedigree first, and she has a good one! She is a non-diluter, providing more options. She has Anchor D Viper bull calf that should be a highlight in next years sale and bred back first service to Black Gold Crude. Nicely marked with pigmented hooves, which seems to be good in my experience.
Bred March 16, 2025 to Black Gold Crude.

From M&L, welcome to the Leahy Select Sale, and thank you to the Leahys for the opportunity to participate in what we hope to be one of many annual sales.
It’s hard to market mediocracy, so we are committed to breeding and selling top genetics. We have gone to grass calving in mainly June and realise that this might not fit most programs, so those heifers on offer, have been left open. I want to stress that they have been cycling and could have been bred to calve at two.
Both the bull and heifers have been on grass all summer and have been developed properly for production and longevity.
Hopefully you will be able to make it sale day but, please feel to reach out anytime before the sale, if you would like to visit the farm or discuss any of the cattle on offer.
Thank you, ROGER & HELEN

Not to pick favorites, but certainly a bred heifer that deserves some serious consideration. She was a highlight at the World Charolais congress as a calf and continues to command attention. Her dam is structurally perfect in my opinion, but more importantly produces. 3H has an awesome IMPAIR bull calf this year and was flushed along with 680H (Dam of lot 41) Bred for an early May calf to M&L Lincoln 59L; guaranteed a polled calf with huge potential.

A totally balanced heifer in all aspects. Unassisted out of a 2-year-old heifer and loaded with growth, fertility and milk traits. A great opportunity to purchase some quality outcross genetics that will impact your herd.
Consigned by M&L Cattle Company

This is a heifer that encompasses for me everything important to the beef industry. She has length, thickness, milk and growth, in the flesh and DNA. Her dam was top in almost every trait in her genetic evaluation as a heifer and the proof is in the pudding with MAVIS. PURE POWER only adds to her potential.
Consigned by M&L Cattle Company

If you are a follower of Patton genetics, you will be very familiar with the PTITPRINCE/ MAXIMILIAN combination. Some extra frame with big time milk and perfect feet! Chester commented to me several times that PTITPRINCE was the best bull they had used, providing trouble free cattle. MAXIMILIAN has the founding genetics of HISMAN, HARMONIE, RAINBOW 13S and TILL. I don’t have any PTITPRINCE semen left, so this will be the last female on offer.

Super structure and genotype. MINA is going to be one of those nice moderate frame females, that produces the good ones year after year.
Consigned by M&L Cattle Company

The youngest heifer in the sale and another
one. It is challenging to come up with something unique to say about each of these heifers. I probably should have had one footnote , “ excellent feet and legs, thick with strong milk lines...” A September heifer that has been cycling since August, so as I mentioned, fertility is not an issue with these heifers, they have been left open.

Hopefully you get a chance to see this girl in the flesh to get a full appreciation of her length, style and thickness. Nothing but quality in this genetic combo!

I certainly get a twinge in the stomach, selling these proven females, but am committed to selling quality. I have a daughter in the herd with the same awesome milk, udder and structure. Her breeding to Montagnard will be a winning combination, very similar to the Rainbow 13S/Montagnard cross that was a mainstay for Pattons.

We are very pleased to offer this long bodied, deep ribbed Craftsman daughter. Her eye catching LLB dam who was a sale feature to our good friends at Armstrong Angus last year that impressed with her overall mass and volume
Attractive lines, clean strided, and plenty of capacity, here is a prime candidate for both your breeding pen and the show ring.

This is the type of female we are striving to produce in our Angus program. Elegant and feminine, deep ribbed and full of volume, wide based, and, critically, sound moving and full strided. The Youngdale dam behind this heifer is one designed for the long run and has hit it out of the park on this her first calf.

29 - PLL Merlin 5M
A stand-out powerful bull out of a strong producing Westcott dam from the McRaes of Manitoba. Long bodied, heavy muscled, black blaze, great growth numbers and homo polled to boot - look for him to make those scale crushing calves the industry wants to reward.

30 - PLL Matador 8M
A personal favourite among the black bulls and a brother to the Webster’s sale selection last year. Beautifully balanced - length, muscle, movement, testicle, and skull shape. I can not say enough good things about this bulls dam, a consistent producer of quality calves, now in her twelfth year.

Youngest bull in the sale offering, and an attractive ideal candidate for breeding in your heifer pen next year. Look here for locked in calving ease, quiet disposition, and an attractive blaze. There is a tremendous group of “Lookout” brothers to this bull which will be features next year- long bodied, thick made, and attractive.

Just an end of August bull from a two year old, this homo polled bull consistently impresses us with his length of body, impressive growth, easy demeanour, and attractive blaze. His young dam is a daughter of M&L Kendra 57B, always a favourite among visitors.

Here is a Polled full fleck option who is soggy made, easy keeping, sound moving, and great to work around.
From a well received cow family who has furnished several sale features for us, here’s a bull to add pounds to calves while still sleeping soundly during calving season.

These solid red Shorthorn bulls will sire solid black calves from homozygous black females, and buckskin marked offspring from Charolais
females. Mojo 14m will bring ease of calving, thickness and easy fleshing. He has a long smooth stride, just like his sire, and is a pleasure to work with.

A good bull should have a sound, efficient mother. Max’s mother was developed on milk, grass and dry hay and calved at 24 months unassisted. She has calved each year since and always unassisted, with a nice tight udder. Max 19M is easily fleshed, long bodied and smooth made. Heifer bull for sure.

His paternal sister 13M is a feature bred heifer in the sale, and he is from the maternal line of 176M. A moderate birthweight bull (out of a first calver) with length, muscle and performance!
Consigned by M&L Cattle Company
MANNY catches everyone’s eye due to his length, hind quarter and balance. His dam has been a consistent short gestation cow and his sire PICKUP PP is a bull that I am building a lot of my polled Full FRENCH program around, due to positive ratings in important traits (maternal milk, calving ease and daughters calving, feet and legs) A polled bull that has the structure and genetics to be a herd builder
Consigned by M&L Cattle Company

I think the French would refer to 680M as “Royal Breeding”. Till and Impair are two of the most respected Charolais bulls and MAXIMUS does the mating justice. A bull so clean and smooth made, that it’s easy to overlook his thickness and muscling. His dam was a favourite that I bought back from Clint and Erin Wilkie in their dispersal. She has a full brother to MAXIMUS this year, and I just recently flushed her successfully.

LOT 42 - M&L Major 176M
I recall going to the Charolais Breeding School hosted by By Livestock and the comment by longtime cattleman and professor, Neil Burcham from New Mexico was “if you want to know what good conformation is, follow around that 12 year old cow that has 10 calves or the bull still out breeding at 10 plus years”. That’s what lead me to Anjou Pure Power, as well as the tremendous maternal and carcass traits. Major’s dam is a top end cow (granddam to MLCC 276M) and raising a top prospect for next year’s sale. A complete herd bull candidate.
