Welcome to the Justamere 26th Annual Angus Bull Sale. What a crazy year 2020 was, the upheaval and uncertainty throughout the world was challenging at best and destructive and life changing at the worst. The many rewarding, uplifting life moments were present as well. I think we, as cattle producers, grain farmers, agriculture folk in general can all agree our industry was the place to be, not only for our family’s health and well being but a sense of freedom in a lockdown world. Being able to continue to grow our crops, feed our livestock and work together as a family was pretty awesome compared to what went on in a lot of our world. Something else that unfolded was the importance of the supply of good wholesome, healthy food. Protein is extremely important in the health of the human race. The pandemic reminded the world of this. Agriculture is essential and will continue to be. Cattle prices are strong and demand is even stronger, this bodes very well for the beef business well into the future. We are excited to be hosting our Angus bull sale once again at the sales pavilion on the farm. On offer is the best group of Angus yearlings and two-year-old bulls we have ever assembled. New AI sires like KR Pacesetter, Stevenson Turning Point, PVF The Natural and C&C Intuition have really worked well, as well as our very impressive natural service sires: EXAR Cowboy Country, Sankeys Watchman, EXAR Next Level, Justamere Mile High, Justamere South Dakota and Justamere Cash In have worked well with our over 220 Angus females to create this awesome set of herd sires. The average birth weight on this set of bulls is 81 lbs., the average weaning weight was our best ever at 847 lbs. We at Justamere continue our belief of keeping it simple. We want bulls that can calve easy with calves that have the spirit to get up and get going at the time of birth, females with excellent feet and udders that are feed efficient and maintain themselves and their calves throughout the year in all kinds of weather conditions, therefore they can wean off a good-sized calf in the fall, male or female. We strive for balance in our own herd sire selection; multi traits with balance and at the top end in the rankings. Angus is the worldwide leader in continuing carcass traits, we assure if you sell your calves on the grid you will be rewarded for using Justamere bulls. If you keep your replacements, as we do, you will be rewarded with an above average cow herd that will sustain you throughout any year. To our fellow seedstock breeders, we know there are more options than you can shake a stick at for herd bull selection. We offer, a proven program that continues to improve every year. Many bulls in this sale are worthy of your time and energy but we ask only that you take the time to look. The exciting Lots 1, 4, 5, and 18 are just a few suggestions, however there are many others that will help boost your programs. To our many commercial customers across Canada we want to thank you for your support and your commitment to our program, also we thank you for your feedback each and every year. We still offer free delivery in Western Canada and a valid semen test with every bull. As the economy slowly opens back up, vaccines become more available along with viable treatment options, the future is bright indeed, especially for those of us in agriculture. He exemplifies what we are trying to do.
