We’re Celebrating 25 years of selling bulls at Diamond C Ranch!
Our hearts are filled with immense gratitude to God, our family, friends and cattle community. The past 25 years have been a very rewarding journey on so many levels. These were the foundation years for our family and we wouldn’t have it any other way. In preparation for this Anniversary Sale, we went through years of photos and were reminded of how rich this heritage is.
When we sold our first bull in 2001, Braeden was one year old and Annie was due to be born in June. The following year, we began the “Best West Limo Classic” bull sale in conjunction with Lazy S Limousin. We have so many fond memories from those 10 years! It is the relationships and friendships that were formed along the way that we treasure.
In 2013, we decided it was less stressful for the bulls to keep them in their familiar home environment and have a video sale on our ranch. This meant that there was a massive clean up required to get our place ready to host the big event. We are forever grateful for our family and friends who came alongside us, rolled up their sleeves and worked their butts off to make it happen! Thank You!
And now here at year 25, we are still very much a family run operation. Braeden continues to work as a Journeyman Ag Technician. Neil is thankful for his expertise and willingness to help out and keep his equipment running smoothly. Braeden and Sara are not very far away and always willing to lend a helping hand. Annie and Bryce are working alongside us as well. They have expanded the Diamond C operation in Big Valley where they currently have their cows. They bring their bulls to our ranch in the Fall. Their contribution is invaluable and we are delighted that the Diamond C Bull sale tradition will continue on to the next generation. Thank You!

DIAMOND C DOCILITY SCORE (DS)
Temperament is a big deal to us and we strive to raise cattle that are easy to handle. We decided to do this docility score to help better inform you of each animals disposition. Every animal at Diamond C is handled often throughout their lifetime, which gives us opportunity to score them one on one. Each sale animal has been given a rating based off of what we believe best fits their temperaments.
1. Calm all the time - We consider these to be pets.
2. Easily Handled - These cattle are calm but will move away/around you when being worked.
3. Average - These cattle have a typical disposition. They can get impatient when being worked but are overall even-tempered.
4. Restless - These animals like to stay in a group or with a buddy. They are very impatient and restless when worked alone.
5. Nervous - Even when worked in a group, these cattle can be nervous.
6. Aggressive - Any aggressive behaviour is culled immediately.

HERD HEALTH & NUTRITION
Nutrition
During the winter months, cows and bred heifers are fed corn/soft white wheat silage and straw. Mineral is supplied in the ration as well as free choice trace mineral salt with selenium. This is to ensure there their rumen is working well and to add extra calcium into their diet. In the summer, the cows are moved to paddocks where they graze usually until weaning.
Bulls are grown out slowly so they will last for you. This year they are being fed a mixture of corn/soft white white wheat silage, hay and oats. They are started on this ration in September. After the bull sale they are taken slowly off of the grain, so as to get them ready to transition to grass. Twoyear-old bulls are lightly backgrounded the first winter and go to grass until September. Then they are brought home and started on their sale ration.
Disease Prevention and Animal Care
All of the animals are cared for with the utmost quality. Cattle always have access to shelter or wind fences. They are not overcrowded and have room to move around freely for exercise. When an animal is stressed, they are brought in and dealt with promptly in an appropriate, ethical manner.

205D Weights: You may notice that the yearling group has higher 205D weights than the 2 yr olds. This is because the two groups are managed differently. The yearlings are born in Jan/Feb and weaned on hard grass in August. The 2 yr olds are born in April/May and instead of being weaned on hard grass they are weaned in early November from out eating silage with their dams.
Breeding Soundness, Bull and Female Evaluation
There are many bulls in this year’s lineup that are at the very top of the Limousin breed or cattle industry and will definitely enhance your program.
We calve two groups of females. Group one calves in January/ February and these calves are weaned near the end of August. The bulls from this group are retained and make up the yearling bulls for our sale. Group two calves in April/May and are weaned near the end of November. The bulls from this group make up the majority of bulls in the two-year-old pen.
All bulls are evaluated for breeding and structural soundness, as well getting scrotal measurements and evaluated for sperm quality. All are required to pass with 70% soundness. A copy of breeding soundness will be provided with your bill of sale.

Goldmember has sure left his mark in our herd. He is one of our top producing herd sires with genetics in lots of other purebred & commercial herds across the industry. His sire, Diamond C Earthquake, is a tremendous breeding bull carrying the genetics of the great Braveheart. Goldmember’s dam is Diamond C Zaharra who was one of our top cows and the mating was perfect. His homo-polled, long spined, deep bodied and has exceptional muscle. He sires quiet progeny that have thickness, great hair coats and great feet. His daughters are fantastic and have lots of milk. He is a bull that we are extremely proud of!

DIAMOND C Gold Rush NSC 36G
Diamond C Gold Rush is a herd sire we raised. He was the lead bull calf out of our first calving group in 2019. His sire is Greenwood Double Down and he is out of a beautiful Final Time daughter. He was the best son out of Double Down. He’s homo-polled, has tons of middle and muscle, moves very well and has lots of depth of heel on his feet. He is a very good footed bull and you can expect that with his progeny. He is super quiet and he throws that as well. This guy was a Diamond C Ranch keeper and we hope to be selling sons from him for a long time.

Legend is a herdsire we are very fond of. He is following his sire, Diamond C Goldmember’s footsteps and we are thrilled! We had high hopes for Legend and he has not disappointed! This is his first calf crop on offer this year and we are proud of them. His calves have consistency, growth, are super thick, and have great muscle. We are excited for the future of Legend and his progeny!

Kreed is a bull we sold in our 2023 sale to Big Meadow Ranch. We almost kept him that year to use on our heifers, but figured we cant keep all of our favourites! Instead we used him as an AI sire on our early group heifers. We don’t do a ton of AI’ing anymore but this was worth it! This was our first calf crop off of him and we are happy with the calving ease. The Kreed calves also have tons of hair!

SYES Justin 206J is a bull that came from Symens Brothers Limousin in South Dakota. His progeny have tons of grow, hair, muscle and great docility. Unfortunately we lost him due to an injury so this is the last of the bulls available from him. Don’t miss out on a SYES 206J son!

“SRD 242H” is a bull we purchased from Richmond Ranch in 2022. We admired his calving ease, performance and depth. He has sure not disappointed and has sired very consistent progeny. We are offering up another chance at some Legend semen. This is all that will be sold for 2026. We had our eyes on Legend right from birth and as he grew we knew he would be staying on the ranch. His daddy, Diamond C Goldmember is almost 7 years old and we needed a bull that would follow in his footsteps. So far, Legend has done just that! Legend is homozygous polled, is carrying 2 copies of the F94L gene, is super thick, has good docility and a nice set of EPDs. His calves are super consistent and have lots of growth. We hope he will be walking our pastures for a long time!

This past fall Neil and I spent some time deciding on when was the ideal time to put up some of the forages, such as their corn silage. Despite some early frost, the fall weather was ideal and the forages on farm tested very well. This year, the crew at Diamond C Ranch have been hard at work putting together a great set of yearling and 2yr old bulls. In the fall, we tested the farm forages and built specific diets for the developing bulls. We blend on-farm forages with some added oats and a custom bull mineral package to develop these bulls to their best genetic potential. The bulls are developed on grass during the summer months and then moved onto a balanced TMR that promotes lean muscle. The bulls are challenged with a forage-based TMR to help them develop their genetic potential. Organic minerals are used to ensure proper immune function and overall health. We were saddened by the passing of another Diamond C team member this past year. Brian was an integral part of the formative years on our ranch. While we were building our purebred herd, we also had to work off the farm. Brian became our right hand man and another “Grandpa” to our kids during this time. TERMS & CONDITIONS TERMS:
The terms of this sale are cash or cheque in Canadian Funds at par immediately following the sale. The right of ownership shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made before any livestock will be released.
ABSENTEE BIDS:
Mailed or telephone bids shall be handled in the most confidential manner if you are unable to attend the sale in person.
INSURANCE:
Ownership risk to purchaser commences when the auctioneer’s hammer falls. Insurance is available at the sale.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Any announcement made from the auction block takes precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue.
CERTIFICATES:
If desired, certificates of registry and transfer on each bull shall be provided by the seller to the buyer without charge after settlement has been made. Please leave transfer instructions at the clerk’s desk.
BREEDER’S GUARANTEE:
The seller warrants clear title to and the right to sell each bull offered for sale. All bulls offered for sale are warranted to be sound, however; the seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign objects after the bull has been sold nor sickness that was not apparent at the time of sale.
BREEDING GUARANTEE:
We, the sellers, have done everything possible to assure you, the buyer, that every bull in this sale will be a breeder. However, should a problem arise, please inform the seller so the problem can be resolved. The purchaser shall have six months from the date the bull reaches fourteen months of age to report, in writing, to the seller that the buII is a non-breeder, providing of course, that the bull has been maintained in satisfactory breeding condition. Each consignor will have six months to prove the buII a breeder after the time of report. In the event a bull is a non breeder the situation will be handled by either a
replacement, credit or money back. In no case will an adjustment be made for more than the purchase price of that particular bull. At no time will a buyer’s reimbursement or credit ever exceed the buyer’s purchase price of the bull, semen or female. No guarantee is given that semen collected from any bull in this sale wiII freeze or be suitable for artificial insemination.
ACCIDENTS:
Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither sales management, auctioneer, nor consignors assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability, legal, or otherwise, in the event or loss of property.
DELIVERY:
Bulls are able to remain at the ranch at the purchaser’s risk and we strongly recommend that the bull be insured. Individual arrangements for delivery and feeding can be made by talking to Neil prior to or on sale day.
RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS:
The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of livestock following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected there to are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
