Terms - Terms of the sale are cash or check payable during or after the sale and before cattle will be released. Cattle will not be transferred until paid in full. Each animal will be at the buyer’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. Delaney Herefords and/or Atkins Herefords will be retaining 1/4 semen interest on each bull selling. Guarantee - All bulls will be semen tested and examined to be sound and guaranteed breeders. If an animal fails to breed and is reported to seller by August 1, 2016, it may be returned to seller if in good condition and in compliance with Minnesota health regulations. Once the bull has been returned to the seller and confirmed that he is not a breeder, the seller will refund the purchase price. Absentee Bidding - If you would like to place a bid but are unable to attend the sale, please direct your bid to any of the owners or sale staff. You may also bid online as the sale will be broadcast live on the Internet at www.liveauctions.tv. See page 18 for more information. Herd Health - All cattle will be sold in compliance with the health laws of the State of Minnesota. Health papers will be provided. All bulls have been tested and are free from any known genetic defects. Wintering & Delivery - Haul your own bull the day of the sale and receive $100. Free delivery on purchases of $5,000 or more to any one location within a 250 mile radius. We will cooperate on trucking expense outside of that area. For any bulls going to Canada, we will deliver to the nearest port of entry at our expense. For your convenience, you may winter your bulls at Delaney Herefords FREE OF CHARGE through May 1, 2016. After May 1, 2016 a yardage charge of $3.00 per day will apply. Insurance - Animals left at Delaney Herefords will be at the buyer’s risk immediately following the sale and we strongly recommend purchasing insurance. Contact Art Handel at (605) 391-8233 for your insurance needs. Registration & Transfer - Registration certificates will be transferred to the buyer at the seller’s expense. Each buyer must be sure to give the clerk the proper name and address for making transfers. EPDs - EPDs listed in the catalog are the most current at time of catalog printing and are GE EPDs, which means all of the bulls have been genetically tested and the EPDs are Genomic Enhanced to provide the most accurate EPDs possible. Welcome to our Sixth Annual Bull Sale! Thank you to all of our customers for your past purchases and the confidence you have shown in our program. We have made a lot of new friends in this business and value each and every one of you, along with our old friends that keep us grounded and focused on what is important in the cattle industry. Our goal is to provide you with high quality, high performing bulls with moderate birth weights in a package that is phenotypically correct with the numbers to back it up. The bulls in this offering have a lot to offer the cattle industry: Calving ease, docility, mothering ability, hardiness, carcass quality and performance. These are things that we all need to be successful in the cattle business. In addition, the added value of hybrid vigor available by using high quality Hereford bulls on black cows will add to your bottom line. This year all of the bulls selling have GE-EPD’s (Genomic Enhanced EPD’s). We are using the latest technology available to have each bull genetically tested to obtain the highest accuracy possible in their EPD’s. We want to provide our customers with the best tools available to assist them in choosing a bull that will fit the needs of their herd. To help you with this early sale date we will keep all the bulls on feed at Delaney Herefords free of charge until May 1, 2016. Prior to that date we will gather yearling weights and carcass data at no charge to the buyer. All the bulls will be semen tested and fully guaranteed. Many of the bulls cataloged will be members of our Denver carload. We will be selling one of these bulls in the Mile High Sale in Denver, where the buyer will have the opportunity to pick their choice of the bulls. The rest will be offered to you January 25th. Again we will be offering 20 black baldy bred heifers, bred to JDH AH 719T 3Y, a great calving ease bull that we have used successfully on heifers for several years. Dr. Scott Josephson was one of the first embryologists to do ET work for us. He probably chases more good calves around a petri dish, as we do around the yard. He has been very instrumental in our success, combining the very best genetics we have to offer. We look forward to working with Scott in the future and value his expertise greatly.
Dr. Scott Josephson grew up on a diversified farm near Minneota, MN and graduated from South Dakota State University in 1981 with a BS degree in Animal Science and a minor in Chemistry. He attended the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1985. Dr. Josephson established the Tri-County Veterinary Clinic in 1985 after purchasing the Minneota Veterinary Service from Dr. A. W. Pennings. Dr. Josephson’s professional interests are focused on bovine reproduction with a special interest in embryo transfer and dairy reproduction management. Recently, Dr. Josephson has also added laparoscopic artificial insemination in sheep, goats and white-tail deer as an expanded service within the practice as well as embryo transfer on sheep and goats. The clinic has added facilities to allow producers to bring their small ruminants to the clinic for these procedures. Scott and his wife, Roberta, have three children: Daughter Erin who is married to Jerren Roberts and is a Speech Pathologist in Marshall, MN. Erin and Jerren have one child, Zachary David, who was born in December 2015; Son Adam, who is in the Pre-Veterinary program at St. Cloud State University and is a middle linebacker for the Huskies’ football team; And son Isaac, who is a Business Management major at the University of Sioux Falls and is a linebacker on the Cougars’ football team.
