The Sharks play their home games at the SAP Center at San Jose, also known as “The Shark Tank” and make their entrance through a giant shark head! They are the first team to have a game postponed because of flooding. The team’s mascot is named S.J. Sharkie, a lively and energetic shark character who has been entertaining fans at every home game since 1992.

AMD VISIT AT MONTEL We received the visit on Friday October 20th from Derek Whitbeck, President of Resolve Industrial Solutions, our Seatle-based industrial AMD. He enjoyed his tour of the factory and meeting the people who work at Montel. Derek has a decade of experience in the industrial world helping business optimize their space and change their bottom line. With a background in engineering (B.S. Chemical Engineering from University of Arizona), he brings a precise and technical approach to each challenge. He started his career as a process engineer for Proctor and Gamble working to understand ROI based on impact to production downtime, maintenance challenges, and long term quality control factors. Derek then spent several years as the Regional Manager for an automated storage and retrieval system manufacturer developing an accurate and refined approach to inventory and process surveys. This experience gives him an effective and accurate methodology to appropriately size and recommend solutions to ReSolve customers today.

COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT On Friday November 10, a vote took place on the agreement in principle submitted to unionized employees. Members accepted the offer during the meeting, and the collective agreement was signed in the days that followed.

COMPANY UPDATES WAREHOUSE/LOGISTICS Purchase of a 40-foot container which will be installed to be used safely to clear snow from trailer roofs, but also to store material inside, so it’s a double-usage container.
Pallets of more than 50 inches wide and less than 96 inches long for full loads are loaded into van trailers across the width to save floor feet in trailers. We only had to add a 2x4 to the end of the pallets. This process is done at the warehouse and allows us to save half of a trailer per loading.
OPERATIONS MONTEL-2 Our tenant from our newly acquired building has officially moved. The site will officially be called MONTEL-2. Renovations have started as of November 20th to give this area a makeover in order to create new offices for the sales & marketing departments. The goal is to refresh the space so that we can move in in February 2024.

COMPANY UPDATES EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT KEVIN BIERNACKI Now Montel’s grower liaison and regional sales manager, Kevin began his relationship with Montel as a customer, the head of The Grove Nevada, whose dispensaries and cannabis production facilities won Best Cannabis Companies to Work For in 2021. But his love of nature, the outdoors, and vertical farming started long before that, with an act of teenage rebellion.

With a striking 30'x30' booth design, our staff, dressed in distinctive pink shirts featuring our slogan "RAISING THE LIMITS OF VERTICAL FARMING," made a lasting impression. The booth's aesthetics seamlessly aligned with our branding. Hosting a successful happy hour on the first night, and featuring many new product innovations, the booth consistently draw a substantial crowd over the 3 days, we are optimistic that our participation in MJBIZ, the premier cannabis trade show in America, will yield meaningful business opportunities for Montel.
