Online magazine Family Destinations Guide has recognized one of Southwest Tennessee’s best towns. In an article they listed Tennessee’s Top 10 Dreamy Towns. Savannah was listed number one. 9

Regarding Savannah, the article in part said, “Savannah sits quietly on the Tennessee River, offering a peaceful step back in time. This December, McNairy County is getting ugly!

Beginning the first Friday in December, I Love McNairy County challenges residents, schools, businesses, organizations and officials to take part in Ugly Sweater Fridays. The challenge will be on Friday, December 5th, 12th, and 19th.

ILoveMC is challenging to wear their ugliest Christmas sweater and post them on Facebook, tagging I Love McNairy County and using the hashtags #ILoveMC, #MerryMcNairy and #MCUglySweaterFridays.

This holiday challenge will help everyone get and stay in the Christmas Spirit, as well as enjoy more casual Fridays by wearing their ugly Christmas Sweater. Schools can challenge schools, towns can challenge towns, and elected officials can challenge other elected officials. Get involved by wearing your most outrageous, colorful, jingly, joyful ugly Christmas sweater each Friday and spread holiday cheer.

It will be here before you know it, Christmas that is! And the Southwest Tennessee Tourism Association is busy putting together a Jingle Bell Trail like no other! We need your help getting this trail filled out so that we can promote ALL things Holiday to potential visitors and Southwest Tennessee residents so they can fill out their holiday calendar. Send us your Holiday activities as soon as possible; include dates, times and locations of each event. We would also love to get your photos so that we can use those as well in our social media and ad creation. Brownsville Announces Full Day of Holiday Events on

Saturday, December 6

Brownsville is set to shine on Saturday, December 6, with a full day of holiday events for families, visitors and the entire community. From Christmas shopping and live music to parades and Santa appearances, Brownsville will be alive with the magic of the season. Activities and events will center around the historic Court Square and along Main Street.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6 EVENT

SCHEDULE

10:00 AM – Downtown Holiday Shopping, Carriage Rides & Food Trucks

Kick off your day in downtown Brownsville as merchants open at 10 AM with unique holiday gifts, local goods, and seasonal specials. Enjoy carriage rides along charming historic streets and grab delicious bites from food trucks stationed throughout the area. It’s the perfect start to a festive day of shopping and strolling.

12:00 – 5:00 PM – Uptown Alley Sessions

Enjoy your lunch or favorite tea or coffee in Uptown Alley for live music featuring The Pretty Weeds (12-1 PM) and Simply Leland (2-5 PM). Enjoy the murals, the Brownsville vibe, and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for recouping from a full morning of shopping and afternoon breaks.

3:00 PM – Children’s Christmas Parade with Santa & Mrs. Claus

Kids are invited to dress in fun holiday attire and bring their bikes, trikes, scooters, or motorized toys to join Santa in a joyful children’s parade around the Haywood County Courthouse. Families may also choose to walk alongside Santa. Afterwards, Mrs. Claus will host a special Christmas Storytime on the steps of the Courthouse. Plus, all children will receive a free book courtesy of Haywood County Reading Railroad.

5:00 PM – Community Christmas Tree Lighting

Gather on the courthouse lawn for a cherished Brownsville tradition. The lighting ceremony features greetings from local mayors and recognition of this year’s grand marshals. This heartfelt event captures the spirit and meaning of the season.

A Blues & BBQ Christmas Parade

Presented by the Emergency Management Agency, this year’s parade theme is “A Blues & BBQ Christmas.” The annual parade brings music, lights, and the soul of Brownsville to the streets. With grand marshals who embody the spirit of service, leadership, and community pride, the celebration brings together generations for a vibrant mix of hometown charm, music, joy, and holiday magic.

With so many events in one day, Saturday, December 6 is the perfect time to experience Brownsville’s music, food, traditions, and small-town holiday charm.

Christmas Joy on Jefferson: First Baptist Church presents: Christmas Joy! Talented local voices coming together to share the true spirit of Christmas through song. December 7 at 4PM.

Stanton Christmas Celebration: Saturday, December 13, Noon-6PM. Festivities kick off at noon on Stanton Tn’s Main Street with food, vendors, entertainment, and more. Parade lineup begins at 1 PM, followed by the parade at 2 PM. This year’s theme, “A Winter Wonderland.” After the parade, gather with friends and family at Stanton Town Hall and The Cannery for more holiday cheer and the official lighting of Stanton’s firstever Christmas tree at dusk.

Christmas in the Park: Douglass Community Center’s annual holiday celebration featuring family fun with games, vendors, giveaways, photos with Santa, and the magical Wonderland of Trees. December 20, 2-7PM Holiday Trail of Lights: A driving tour of dazzling home and business displays across the community beginning December 1-30th.

Markowski Christmas Lights: An 8-acre, 1-million-light drive-thru display open nightly at 5:30 PM through December 31.

These holiday events are made possible through the collaboration of many dedicated community partners who work together to bring festive cheer to Brownsville. Their continued support, creativity, and commitment help ensure that the town shines brightly each holiday season and remains a welcoming place for residents and visitors alike.

Take a hike with the Pinson Mounds Rangers! Hikers will hike from the museum to the boardwalk and will learn about the beautiful fall colors that take over the park each fall. Rangers recommend hikers bring closed toe shoes, water, weather appropriate clothing, and dog leash ( No dogs without a leash will be permitted on this hike).

Optional items include camera, apps such as INaturalist or Merlin, leaf press books, and a hiking stick.

Merry Christmas Ya’ll, we are bringing the Christmas Show back this year! Spread the word and come out the Saturday after Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday season with pictures with Santa and a hilarious show with great music!

The Good Tidings Market will be held at the West Tennessee Farmers’ Market pavilion in Jackson, Tennessee. This event is an opportunity for local nonprofit organizations to raise money to help support their respective efforts by selling or offering items in exchange for suggested donations. It is also a wonderful chance for members of the community to find unique gifts, decorations, keepsakes, and/or artwork for the holiday season while giving to worthwhile causes!

Registration is open to non-profit organizations and community groups free of charge and with no vendor fees. Non-profit organizations can visit the Communications and Engagement website under the Government tab at www.jacksontn.gov and select the “Good Tidings Market Registration” button to register.

Friends of Michie Park present Cookies with Santa! The event will take place Tuesday, December 2 from 5pm-7pm at the Michie Civic Center in Michie, Tennessee. “Join us while we eat cookies and drink milk with Santa! Get your picture taken with Jolly St. Nick & create a Christmas craft. Donations are welcome & all monies will go towards the Fund a New Park Equipment project.

The magic of Christmas is not on your presents, but in your presence. Stroll around Michie Park to marvel in the sights, sounds, and smells of the holiday season. Hot cocoa, s'more fixins', and other small items available to purchase. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Michie Park's commitment in providing a safe and family-friendly park.

Milk & Cookies with Santa will be Saturday, December 6 from 10am-12pm and is sponsored by the Friends of the Hardin County Library. Bring the kids for a cozy holiday treat, snap a photo with Santa, and enjoy milk & cookies.

We’ll be taking photos throughout the event, and parents will be able to save them directly from our Facebook page afterward.

Please note: This event will be held in the Welch Room only. The rest of the library will not be open for entry during the event.

Kick off your Christmas season with a cherished classic. The Nutcracker, brought to life by Ballet Arts West Tennessee’s premier ballet company. Join Clara and her Nutcracker Prince on a timeless journey through the Land of Sweets premiering Thanksgiving weekend, November 28th through the 30th at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Downtown Jackson. It’s a holiday tradition the whole family will love.
