“Life's like a road that you travel on

When there's one day here and the next day gone

Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand

Sometimes you turn your back to the wind

There's a world outside every darkened door

Where blues won't haunt you anymore

Where the brave are free and lovers soar

Come ride with me to the distant shore” –

Life is a Highway

Darby

As the song says, life is a highway and it is often unpredictable, lined with side roads, backroads and roads that need repair. Still, if we stay committed to the process, those roads get us to where we are going. Darby Drinkard is all too familiar with life’s road. A McNairy County resident that is well traveled, Darby has had some ups and downs, but God’s light in her has and is shining through daily. Whether it was a literal mile driven, or a metaphorical mile walked, Darby is a student of life and is applying every step as a part of God’s process in her journey. She hopes her experiences can be an encouragement to others Continue reading................

“I was born and raised in Selmer, Tennessee, and while life has taken me through many seasons, I’ve always found my way back to the same foundation: faith, family, and community,” said Darby. “I’m not married and don’t have children, but I’ve been blessed with people who have walked beside me through both calm and chaos. Some of the best relationships in my life were formed during my darkest valleys. The kind of people who show up when everything is falling apart and stay when the spotlight fades, those are the ones who reflect the heart of God. They’ve taught me the power of presence and the importance of walking with others.”

“I earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Memphis and later a master’s degree from the University of North Alabama,” Darby said. “I began my law enforcement career in 2017 with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, eventually serving as a Sergeant. That chapter of my life molded me, challenged me, and stretched me. But after eight years, it came to an unexpected close. What felt like failure, I now recognize as a divine interruption.”

“Life has a way of knocking the wind out of us, sometimes through circumstances, sometimes through our own decisions. But by God’s grace, failure isn’t final,” Darby shared. “A closed door isn’t a dead end. And rock bottom, that can be the starting line for something brand new. That’s what it was for me. God used the end of one story to begin a better one, one where my identity wasn’t rooted in a badge or a job title, but in who I am in Him (God).”

“I’m a real estate agent with Action Realty,” Darby continued. “I originally obtained my license a few years ago, but I returned to the market in March with a renewed sense of direction. Real estate gives me the opportunity to connect with people in one of the most meaningful transitions of their lives, buying or selling a home. For me, it’s not just about the transaction, it’s about showing up, listening well, and being a steady hand in moments of change.”

Being a diverse and multi-talented woman, Darby was presented with the opportunity to serve as a School Resource Officer with the McNairy County Sheriff’s Office. ‘This role has allowed me to combine my background in law enforcement with my heart for people, especially the next generation,’ said Darby. Every day, I have the chance to be a positive influence - to show students that officers aren’t just enforcers but mentors, protectors, and encouragers. It’s been rewarding to help shift the narrative, build trust, and genuine connections.”

Still, there was room on her plate for personal development in a direction that is also near and dear to her.

“I’m started classes this fall at Union University to pursue a Master of Social Work,” said Darby. “My heart is for people who are silently struggling, and I want to be a resource for those who feel unseen, unheard, or overwhelmed. This new chapter is a continuation of the calling God placed on my life, to serve and to support.”

“I enjoy working out and spending time with authentic people,” Darby said. “Mental health and emotional well-being aren’t just talking points for me; they’re part of my testimony. I’ve walked through silent battles that no one could see, and I know what it feels like to smile on the outside while falling apart on the inside. The truth is, so many people are barely holding it together. That’s why grace isn’t optional, it’s vital. And compassion is not just a nice gesture. It’s what Jesus modeled every single day. The world is loud with judgment, criticism, and performance. What the world needs is more people willing to live like Jesus, people who lead with love, speak life into the broken, and sit in the trenches with those who are hurting. We weren’t called to blend in; we were called to reflect Him. And that means choosing mercy over pride, presence over perfection, and faith over fear, every single day.”

When asked why she believes women should lead and contribute in their communities, Darby said, “Women carry a strength that blends empathy and resilience. The trials we face don’t just shape our character; they prepare us to lead with compassion and clarity. When women rise, we create space for others to rise too.”

“Leadership isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence,” Darby added. “It’s about showing up, scars and all, and using our stories to point others toward hope. God often uses the broken pieces of our lives to build something beautiful. And when we surrender our need for control and let Him write the story, He can turn every detour into a divine assignment.”

Awesome and inspirational words Darby. Thank you for being transparent and genuine. If you don’t already, be sure to follow Darby on social media. She often drops valuable insight and thoughts that will encourage and uplift.

You’re Not Just Tired—Your Body Might Be Starving for Minerals

Busy days, stress, coffee, processed foods—it all adds up. Even if your diet seems healthy, you may still be low in essential minerals like magnesium, zinc, selenium, and calcium. These tiny nutrients play a huge role in energy production, hormone balance, brain function, and immune health.

When minerals are out of balance, it can lead to:

Why Mineral Balance Matters

Minerals act as the body’s spark plugs they’re required for nearly every cellular process. Without the right balance, your body struggles to:

Sometimes...............

Sometimes God allows us to let go of what we were fighting to hold so He can return us to ourselves. Not every loss is punishment, many are His protection and redirection. Philippians 3:7 reminds us that what feels like loss can become gain in Christ. Often, the version of us that chooses familiar pain cannot enter the future God prepared. So He allows certain things to fall away so we can rise renewed. John 15:2 teaches that God lovingly prunes what we think we need so we can bear more fruit. Loss is never easy, but it becomes sacred when it brings us into alignment.

Romans 8:28 assures us that even our losses carry purpose. Isaiah 43:18–19 declares that God is doing something new, and we must release the old to perceive it.

This is not an ending but a doorway. You will win again this time as the healed, whole, and anointed you. Psalm 126:5 promises joy after tears, and Job 42:10 reminds us that God restores and gives double. Your loss is simply making room for your victory. He turned my mourning into dancing & he will do the same for you inspired by TPP; but for me personally, it was a loss of a marriage.
