This year, one McNairy County favorite rose to the top. Smokey Joe's BBQ in Selmer was named Best Hamburger in West Tennessee, proving that while the restaurant has built its reputation on legendary barbecue, its handcrafted burgers are just as unforgettable. Known for its slow-smoked ribs, barbecue, brisket and chicken, Smokey Joe's has become a destination for great food and warm hospitality. Its fresh ground beef burgers have earned a loyal following through the years, and now they've received statewide recognition from Tennessee Magazine readers. The magazine described the family-owned restaurant by saying: "Smokey Joe's BBQ is where family-owned meets a hometown crowd and maybe some barbecue sauce on your chin. This Selmer favorite specializes in ribs, barbecue, brisket and chicken but is also well known—and now award-winning—for fresh ground beef hamburgers. Even though Smokey Joe's is in a small community, the family and joy continue to grow with every relationship built and plate shared with everyday customers." 169 VEHICLES, RHR CAR ONE INCREDIBLE SHOW COMMUNITY
Chrome gleamed, engines rumbled, and downtown Selmer came alive as the Rockabilly Highway Revival Festival Car Show welcomed an impressive 169 entries from across the region. From beautifully restored antique automobiles and classic trucks to eye-catching modified vehicles, the show celebrated automotive history while bringing together enthusiasts and families for an unforgettable day. Beyond the trophies and polished paint, the event made a meaningful impact by raising funds for the McNairy County Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Executive Director Callie Allison expressed her appreciation to everyone who participated, attended, volunteered, and supported the event. "Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a great day. Your generosity and support help us continue serving children and families throughout McNairy County. We are truly grateful for this amazing community." The success of the car show is just the beginning. The Carl Perkins Center has several exciting fundraising events planned for the remainder of the year: • July – Christmas in July • October – Golf Tournament • November – Ladies Night Out & the Robert K. Lee 5K With another successful Rockabilly Highway Revival in the books, the community once again proved that when people come together for a great cause, everyone wins—especially the children and families served by the McNairy County Carl Perkins Center.
