Brooke Kiddy was recognized for her entrepreneurial spirit and community impact during the inaugural Southwest Tennessee Tourism Association IMPACT Awards, held Wednesday, July 8, at Pickwick Landing State Park
The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the Southwest Tennessee Tourism Association's annual meeting, marking the beginning of the organization's 2026–2027 fiscal year
Created to recognize outstanding individuals, businesses, organizations, and communities across Southwest Tennessee, the inaugural IMPACT Awards celebrate those making significant contributions to the region's tourism, retail, agritourism, and hospitality industries. The awards honor visionaries, leaders, and community partners whose creativity, dedication, and service help strengthen visitor experiences while driving economic growth throughout the eight-county region.
A total of 15 awards were presented during the ceremony. Kiddy received the Individual IMPACT Makers Retail Award, recognizing her commitment to both her business and the McNairy County community.
Following the presentation, Kiddy reflected on the journey that led her to business ownership. "Owning a business has always been a dream of mine. When I purchased Without Borders Nutrition in January 2023 and officially took over on February 1, it wasn't just buying a business it was the beginning of a dream that had been years in the making. Looking back, I realize that dream started long before I ever owned a business."
She credits many of her earliest inspirations to family members who owned businesses of their own.
"Growing up, I loved listening to my Uncle Johnny and Uncle Ronnie tell stories about owning the arcade. The way they talked about the people they met, the hard work, and the memories they made sparked something in me. Even then, I knew that one day I wanted to own a business of my own."

Some of her favorite childhood memories were spent at J & B Auto Sales, owned by her Uncle Jimmy and cousin Brian.
"I didn't know the first thing about cars or how to work on one, but I knew exactly how to answer the phone: 'J & B Auto Sales!' I loved sitting beside them during the car auctions, clicking away and helping bid on vehicles. I even got into trouble one time because the car I was supposed to be bidding on was four or five cars behind the one showing on the screen, and I was still bidding anyway! Looking back now, those are some of my favorite memories, and I didn't realize then that I was falling in love with being part of a business" Her interest in business continued to grow during high school when her Uncle Ronnie encouraged her to join DECA.
"That decision changed the course of my life. I served as DECA Vice President my junior year and President my senior year, and I credit so much of that experience to Kelly Amerson."
Kiddy said Amerson's influence extended well beyond the classroom.
"Mrs. Amerson did more than teach business—she inspired us. She took us to competitions, gave us the opportunity to attend the SOAR Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., and taught us the marketing, leadership, and creativity behind building a successful business. More importantly, she believed in us before we fully believed in ourselves."
Reflecting on her path, Kiddy said she now sees how each experience prepared her for the opportunity to become a business owner
"Looking back now, I can see how every conversation, every lesson, every opportunity, and every person who invested in me helped prepare me for this journey."
When the opportunity to purchase Without Borders Nutrition came in early 2023, she embraced it.
"When the opportunity came to purchase Without Borders Nutrition in January 2023, I took a leap of faith. On February 1, I officially became the owner, and every day since has been filled with lessons, challenges, blessings, and more joy than I could have imagined."
Today, she says the business has become much more than a nutrition club.
"It's a place where I get to love on my community, encourage others, build relationships, and hopefully inspire someone else to chase a dream that seems impossible. I'm incredibly thankful for my family, my mentors, and everyone who believed in me long before I believed in myself."
She concluded with the reminder that even the biggest dreams often begin in the smallest moments
"Sometimes a dream starts with nothing more than listening to someone else's stories, and spending Saturdays answering phones, clicking auction buttons, and dreaming about owning a business one day. Mine did."
The Southwest Tennessee Tourism Association provides cooperative tourism development and promotion for Chester, Decatur, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, McNairy, and Madison counties. Through regional partnerships and collaborative marketing, the association works to strengthen tourism and economic development while showcasing the people, places, and experiences that make Southwest Tennessee a destination worth discovering.
Christmas in July
The spirit of the holidays came early as families gather for the annual Christmas in July celebration, co-hosted by the McNairy County Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and the McNairy County Parks and Recreation Department. The free community event served as a festive preview of McNairy's Holiday of Hope celebration held each December, featuring a variety of booths and vendors offering fall, Halloween and Christmas décor, clothing and unique gift items. Children enjoyed inflatable party jumpers and a special visit from Santa Claus, who arrived straight from his summer vacation at the beach wearing a tropical shirt and shorts instead of his traditional red suit. "Me and Mrs. Claus are headed back up north and wanted to stop in and remind everyone that Christmas is only a few short months away," Santa told visitors. Stars & Stripes Stampede Rodeo Set for August 21–22 at McNairy CountyAg Event Center
Patriotism, western tradition, and high-energy rodeo action will come together thisAugust as the MTN Valley Farms presents the Stars & Stripes Stampede, a two-day event celebrating America's heroes while showcasing some of the region's top rodeo competition.
The Stars & Stripes Stampede will take place Friday and Saturday,August 21–22, 2026, at the McNairy CountyAg Event Center, located at 851 High School Road in Selmer.
Vendors will open at 12:00 p.m., gates will open at 4:30 p.m., and rodeo events begin each evening at 6:00 p.m.
This year's event promises something for the entire family, featuring a full slate of professional rodeo events including:

Tie-Down Roping
Breakaway Roping
Chute Dogging
Mounted Shooting
Steer Wrestling
Saddle Bronc Riding
Bareback Riding
Bull Riding
Team Roping
In addition to the rodeo competition, attendees can enjoy a Military Tribute Ceremony honoring the sacrifices and service of active-duty military personnel and veterans. The event will also feature a concert each night after the rodeo, food vendors, and family-friendly activities throughout the weekend.
Organizers describe the Stars & Stripes Stampede as "a western military showdown like no other," combining thrilling rodeo competition with a heartfelt salute to those who have served our nation.
Admission is $25 for adults, while children under 10 are admitted free.Amilitary discount will also be available.
