3DAIT is a research project that focuses on using innovative techniques to create resilient housing for rural Iowa communities in response to the derecho that hit Iowa in 2020. The project utilizes 3D printed concrete to construct the housing units. The current objective/ research focus is to understand how 3D printed concrete parts can form a whole. Looking into details and joints, the goal is to understand how these elements can be joined and sealed, to perform well thermally in Iowa’s climate.
