DESIGN AND HEALTH
The designed environment has a strong influence on our health: spaces, buildings, products, services, processes and digital systems affect the way we live, work, learn and heal. Design decisions have direct impacts on safety, well-being and costs.
The Swiss Center for Design and Health (SCDH) will help you to design or improve your visual communication, interior and exterior spaces, products as well as systems and processes in ways targeted to promote health.

In Nidau near Biel/Bienne, we operate an infrastructure that is unique in Europe, and we are equipped with the latest technologies. This enables realistic testing under conditions of actual use – on a 1:1 scale.
OUR INFRASTRUCTURE
○ Simulation area: projection of floor plans on 560 m² surface, construction of spaces with cardboard walls and furnished with mock-ups and real furniture
○ Testing spaces: realistic replication of patient rooms, treatment rooms, common areas, school rooms, living spaces and workplaces, including furnishings
○ Test OR: Fully equipped operating theatre up to the standards of a modern hospital
○ Workshops: production technologies in the fields of metals, wood, textiles, digital media, 2D/3D printing, surfaces and synthetics
○ Materials collection: collections of digital and physical materials for healthcare facilities and public buildings
