previous study in the primary research for this project we looked at free form gridshells with digital fabrication.

The modern nature of the building is built between buildings of a ‘classical’ architecture style which contrasts well. Materials of timber and glass from the exterior is also reflected into the interior decor. The fluid form of the building gained our attention as it fits seamlessly between its soundings but also functions as its own structure.
IS Building Site Visit
The site was the Swinburne IS building located on Henry Street, Hawthorn. It comprised of 3 rectangular prisms but function as 1 building. The IS Building is relatively small when compared to the other buildings on campus.

PLAN VIEW the new floor plan creates a complete passage through the building, generating a much more fluid circulation to the space and opens up working areas that would have been very small and crowded in the old layout

Reflection The final gridshell showcases a unique way to use up the available space. Although the gridshell only covers the middle section of the building it appears connected to the overall space. The gridshell also adds a whole new different space to the buildings
