The West in Watercolor Change of Guard in DC Tucked away in a cluster of shops near the trendy shopping area in Berkeley, California is the North Point Gallery, a large furnished room hung with historic California paintings dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its splendid collection, with carefully selected landscape paintings are by both well-known and lesser-known artists. Visitors are greeted at the door by Alfred Harrison, the gallery’s owner. As Harrison showed me around his collection, he shared his views on art, his belief that many landscape painters have been overlooked, and one artist in particular. / Page 16
The Swedish Embassy in the Unites States experienced a summer of changes, celebrations and interviews. Something for Everyone After a humble beginning in 1985, the Göteborg Book Fair has grown into the largest cultural and literary event in Scandinavia. With hundreds of seminars and thousands of events and exhibitors, nearly 100,000 visitors are expected during the four-day event at the end of September.
