Karl Dyall and Rennie Mirro, two of Sweden’s most established performers in the musical genre are coming to New York for a performance at the Apollo Theater.

Salt lakrits - make your own? Most licorice lovers remember how they acquired a taste for the candy, or they proudly assume their affinity for it lies in their DNA: because many Swedes are born loving licorice. And though learning to love salty licorice (salt lakrits), AKA salmiak, may require a little more work, it is equally memorable and beloved. Licorice is known to have mild laxative effects and raise blood pressure, and when ammonium chloride is added for that startling salty zing, you’ve got a curious combination that has caused a few novice fans some anxiety (literally). But for the Americans who can’t get their next shipment fast enough, the only thing / Page 4 left to do is make some. Like Rachel Redford did.

From Sammy with Love comes to New York for one night only. We’re catching up with Karl Dyall and Rennie Mirro a couple hours before the re-opening of From Sammy with Love at Lorensbergsteatern in Göteborg. They’ve just finished a final rehearsal but seem relaxed and ready, it’s been a year since they last performed the applauded and critically hailed show, which ran for two years straight at the Stockholm City Theatre. The show goes on the road in Sweden after two weeks in Göteborg, and after a short intermission it will show one night at the Apollo Theater in New York. “It still feels unreal,” Dyall and Mirro say in unison, and Mirro adds, “I almost don’t dare think about performing our show at the
