St. Vrain offers a robust International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle School Programme at Sunset Middle School. This globally-recognized curriculum nurtures inquisitive, knowledgeable, and compassionate young minds. Through a holistic approach, students are encouraged to think critically, challenge conventions, and embrace intercultural understanding. The IB Middle School Programme cultivates global citizens ready to make meaningful contributions in an interconnected world.
Middle school students accelerate their learning through St. Vrain’s nationally-recognized Learning Technology Plan. Central to this initiative is our 1:1 iPad program, ensuring every student has access to cutting-edge learning tools. Beyond hardware, our expansive suite of technology learning tools fosters creativity and innovation. Parents are empowered with multiple control and support options. Additionally, our curriculum emphasizes digital citizenship, teaching students to navigate the online world responsibly and ethically.
In St. Vrain Valley Schools, we believe in a tailored approach to education, ensuring every student’s journey is as unique as they are. Central to this vision is the Individualized Career and Academic Plan (ICAP), a comprehensive roadmap guiding students from classroom learning to postsecondary readiness. Starting in middle school, the ICAP delves into students’ career and college interests, setting early postsecondary goals and tracking academic progress. But it’s more than just an academic ledger; it’s a holistic reflection of a student’s aspirations and future. By the time they graduate high school, students’ ICAPs are a testament to their growth and preparedness, as they demonstrate self-awareness, career awareness, postsecondary aspirations, postsecondary options, environmental expectations, academic planning, employability skills, financial literacy, and more.
We prioritize comprehensive student growth and well-being by fostering a championship mindset during the pivotal middle school years. The 7 Mindsets program is designed to enhance student well-being, bolster executive functioning skills, build student confidence, and grow other essential skills for high school and beyond. Through this and other academic, co-curricular, and opportunities, students are better equipped to navigate the challenges of adolescence and transition smoothly into high school.
In St. Vrain, we recognize the value of continuous learning. That’s why we proudly offer Project Launch, an extended school year program that runs through the month of June. This initiative ensures that students maintain momentum in their academic journey, even as the traditional school year concludes. Project Launch is more than just an extension; it’s an opportunity for students to delve deeper into subjects, explore new horizons, and further their academic growth. By participating, students remain engaged, reinforcing their knowledge and skills, and setting the stage for a successful return in the fall.
Our commitment to student success extends beyond regular school hours. Through the Achievement Acceleration Academy (AAA), students are granted continued access to after-school academic support. Building upon the foundation set in elementary school, AAA offers a platform for students to further accelerate and advance their academic journey. This structured environment provides tailored assistance, ensuring that every student has the resources and guidance needed to thrive.
