A warm welcome to pupils, visitors, and staff to Sports Day 2026. It is fantastic to see our pupils come together for this whole-school event. I am really pleased you can join us to celebrate our outstanding young athletes as we join together as a sporting community on our excellent all-weather track.
Lunch notice
Please can Houses arrange for packups to be collected from the marquee at 1.30pm. These are to be distributed by Houses to pupils in respective areas.
COMPETITION RULES
Athletes must compete in the correct age group. Failure to do so will result in all points scored by the athlete being deducted from the House total.
Athletes may only compete in a maximum of four events, including the relay, unless authorised to do more events
Points are awarded for places.
Where a clash of track and field events occurs, athletes must ensure their attendance is recorded at the field event, before competing in the track event. They should return to the field event at the completion of the race.
Important:
Pupils to remain in House areas and watch events there.
Please ensure all rubbish is placed in the bins provided.
No walking on the field area at any time.
In the finals of all events it is mandatory that students wear their House colours.
Remembering the Past
Old Suttonian Sydney Wooderson - 1914-2006 (Westminster, 1928 – 1933)
Sydney was the leading world middle distance athlete in the pre-war era, holding the worls record at 880 yards and 1 mile. Furthermore, he was the 5000 metres European Champion and National Cross-Country champion in 1948. He was deservedly awarded an MBE in the 2000 Birthday Honours List for services to Blackheath Harriers and athletics. A collection of Sydney’s medals can be seen in the Sutton Valence School ‘Sydney Wooderson Sports Centre’
