ACCOUNTING If you’re thinking about majoring in accounting, you’re likely thinking about becoming a CPA. In just four years, more than 90% of our accounting graduates earn the required 150 credit hours to sit for the CPA exam. Most accounting programs take five years, so Susquehanna saves you a year of college costs, plus you start earning a salary sooner. For you, it’s a double net gain. Understanding accounting rules and regulations is just one factor for career success. You will also learn to analyze data to provide meaningful insights that help clients and businesses prepare for their futures. 6 | SIGMUND WEIS SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

BUSINESS DATA SCIENCE The sheer amount of data collected by companies like Google, Amazon and Apple is staggering — and they need someone to interpret what it means. Develop the skills to manipulate data and provide meaningful insights. You’ll study statistical methods, quantitative and mathematical models, business policy and strategy, as well as complete case studies addressing management of information resources, hardware and software. It signifies the best of both worlds — the highest quality of teaching available to you to learn the requisite economic principles and applied research opportunities. This winning combination gives you the real-world skills for your first job and beyond.

Your research training shows prospective employers who value clear, incisive thinking and broad analytical skills that you know how to accurately diagnose and solve problems. Using cuttingedge techniques, you’ll learn to conduct quick analyses and deep examinations of policy-related problems to get to the heart of an issue — and identify possible solutions. Complete at least one major research project and have the option to present your research nationally. We offer Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees in economics. The B.S. is more technically focused with business administration courses and the B.A. is broad-based to include additional liberal arts courses. Both prepare you for careers in finance, investment banking and government, and are excellent preparation for a graduate or law degree.

Earn BLOOMBERG CERTIFICATION through your coursework. MAJOR:

You’ll also get practical experience placing and tracking trades when you invest university funds in the stock market through the River Hawk Investment Fund. Susquehanna is among the less than 4% of business schools worldwide that are recognized as a CFA Institute Affiliated

University. You’ll have a chance to participate in the CFA Institute’s research challenge, a global financial analysis and professional ethics competition that pits our students against teams from around the world. Our students are highly successful when they sit for the CFA Level 1 exam. Because you'll learn three-quarters of test material in classes, you’ll be ready to take the exam in your senior year.
