Our core ministries of SU Holidays, schools work, community-based mission and training are modelled around taking children and young people on this faith journey.

Scripture Union (SU) Scotland is a national Christian charity headquartered in Bridgeton, Glasgow. The charity was officially established in 1961, but its roots as a volunteer organisation go back as far as 1867. From its hopeful beginnings, meeting children and young people on beaches and in homes across the UK in the 19th century, Scripture Union has grown into a global movement, now active in over 120 countries worldwide. These autonomous organisations are linked together by Scripture Union to introduce children
We are a volunteer-led organisation with around 2,500 volunteers and 150 staff. Together, we provide:
• SU Holidays and weekends hosting over 3,000 children per year offering a wide range of multiactivity and special interest events, all with the opportunity to explore the Bible and make lifelong friends
• school residentials offering curriculum-based outdoor learning, building children’s resilience and confidence, alongside an introduction to the Bible, hosting over 4,500 pupils and teachers each year
• around 400 SU Groups within schools, allowing children to connect with others as they explore the Christian faith and the Bible together
• Local Ministry Hubs, now covering over 50% of Scotland’s high school clusters, gathering community members to pray for and plan ministry in their local schools
• Magnitude: a five-day annual Christian youth festival that attracts around 1,500 young people aged 11-18, for which we are the lead partner
• a wide range of high-quality free resources for schools, churches and families, including curriculumbased RME resources used in classrooms throughout Scotland
• over 30 community-based missions and holiday clubs in partnership with local churches
• online digital communities that connect young people safely online for groups such as gaming, creative writing, music and Bible study training programme to help young people to grow their faith, gain qualifications and become young leaders, equipping them to serve in mission with children and young people
local Christian youth projects providing in-depth support for children and young people in some of Scotland’s most marginalised communities
Children often engage with several of these interconnected programmes as they embark on their faith journey.
Together, these ministry activities currently impact 9% of the 705,000 school-age children and young people in Scotland and we have ambitious plans to continue to extend that reach, lighting up Scotland one young life at a time.

LIFE-CHANGING MOMENTS OF FAITH AND
Many return to the same event year after year, deepening friendships with those they meet along the way. These holidays become annual events that are looked forward to, and the centres and campsites become special places filled with memorable moments.
As faith grows, young people engage with training events and can join our training programme to become leaders themselves.
That’s why we believe growing and sustaining our residential facilities at Lendrick Muir is so strategic, mission-critical and worthy of significant investment.

As a young child, Eilidh went to church every week simply because her mum wanted her to and she wanted to please her mum. She did not have faith that she could define as her own. Eilidh first connected with SU Scotland in Primary 5 when she began attending an SU Group at her primary school. This led her to attend her first regional residential weekend at Lendrick Muir, where she discovered more about Jesus. When she was in first year of high school she was invited to a week-long SU Holiday that ran in the summer at Lendrick Muir.
This is where Eilidh responded to Jesus personally and her faith became established. For the first time Eilidh could say with confidence that she had faith of her own. Eilidh then chose to return to the regional weekends and the same SU Holiday at Lendrick Muir most years since. She grew to love the atmosphere at SU Holidays even more and aspired to be a volunteer for SU Scotland. When Eilidh was 16, she registered for the COmMISSION programme and trained to become a leader at weekends and holidays, and a Pupil Leader at her school’s SU Group. This training helped Eilidh’s faith to grow and led to many opportunities including: volunteering at SU Holidays and missions; being part of SU Scotland’s Student Exec, voicing the opinions of young people; hosting at SU Scotland’s annual ‘Big Celebration’ event; becoming a Church Ambassador, promoting SU Scotland at her own church; and more.
Eilidh’s experience reflects SU Scotland’s overall outcomes, supporting children and young people on every step of their faith journey as they explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus.
OUR VISION IS TO SEE LENDRICK MUIR TRANSFORMED FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
LENDRICK MUIR IS SU SCOTLAND’S LARGEST ACTIVITY CENTRE, LOCATED NEAR KINROSS IN THE HEART OF SCOTLAND.
Since opening its doors in 1999, Lendrick Muir has grown into a vibrant hub for Christian residential ministry experiences, welcoming over 11,000 guests each year.
• During school term-time, the centre hosts school residentials, bringing outdoor learning to life for primary and secondary school learners.
• Weekends are filled with youth groups, church retreats, conferences, and regional weekends.
• During school holidays, the buildings and grounds teem with campers at SU Holidays.
• Since 2022, Lendrick Muir has also been home to the Magnitude Festival, a five-day annual Christian youth festival attracting over 1,500 young people and youth leaders.
Year-round, the centre is alive with activity and primarily dedicated to Scotland’s children and young people, creating life-changing experiences that have a lasting, transformational impact.
Young lives are impacted through spending time with our caring, experienced team members, building positive relationships, trying new activities and growing in confidence, and crucially, through having opportunities to explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus.
With demand for spaces continuing to grow and a significant legacy to build on, we now have an exciting opportunity to take the impact of the centre to the next level.
THE REALITY
After over 25 years of intensive usage, parts of the Lendrick Muir building dating from the 1960s and 1970s are now close to end-of-life.
There is growing demand for larger units of accommodation.
For much of the year, Lendrick Muir is already at capacity.
Guests and staff regularly report that the building is difficult to navigate and poorly-connected, causing operational strain. Daily tasks, such as laundry or food preparation, are unnecessarily challenging and timeconsuming for both staff and volunteers.

THE OPPORTUNITY
After much prayer and planning over several years, we believe the moment of opportunity is now. This is the right project at the right time.
Demand for Lendrick Muir’s facilities is at an all time high, with training events and residential programmes regularly reach full capacity, and waiting lists are increasingly common.
What’s more, we fully expect demand to increase further:
• There is increasing evidence of a growing spiritual hunger among children and young people, something we observe on a near-daily basis. We want to be ready to provide for more children and young people booking onto residential events like SU Holidays, Magnitude Festival and young leader training programmes.
• In December 2025, The Schools (Residential Outdoor Education) (Scotland) Bill was voted into law. This ground-breaking legislation ensures all Scottish school pupils will have the opportunity of an outdoor education residential, funded by the government. We estimate this will more than double current demand for outdoor activity experiences.
• The growth of SU Scotland’s wider ministry is creating additional demand for spaces to work, gather, train and serve.
Altogether, these are clear encouragements that point to this being the ideal time to expand and improve residential spaces at Lendrick Muir.
Investing in Lendrick Muir is investing in the spiritual wellbeing of Scotland’s children and young people. We believe residentials transform lives, creating life-changing moments of discovery and community. There are countless stories of children and young people exploring the Bible and growing in faith when visiting Lendrick Muir. At a time of evident spiritual hunger, it is critical to ensure our provision expands and develops in line with anticipated demand. We want to prepare Lendrick Muir for the next generation and we’d love you to be part of helping make that happen.

THE PLAN
Featuring a striking new wing designed to complement the existing mansion house, the project involves removing the area of the centre known as ‘Glendevon’ and the central link buildings (excluding the sports hall), remodeling sections of the main house, and creating a modern, connecting space.
There will be increased bedroom and meeting accommodation capacity across two floors, a spacious, accessible entranceway, and a central kitchen/dining space on the ground level.
Overall capacity is set to increase from 166 to 190, enabling up to 2,000 more children and young people to benefit from a life-changing residential experience each year.
Extensive efforts are being made to ensure the Main House (Moubray and Ochil Units) continues to remain functional and safe for use by groups throughout the development period.
We are excited by the potential of this once-ina-generation project to deliver a step-change in provision, creating a contemporary, sustainable, inclusive building that meets the needs of guests and staff alike.

It’s hugely exciting to see the potential of this development for young people, volunteers, schools and our staff. The stakeholder survey gave us valuable insights into how we could make Lendrick Muir an even better place for residential visits. The proposed changes will also help the centre run more efficiently and effectively, addressing some of the challenges of the current layout. It’s been amazing to see these ideas taking shape on paper, and we look forward to seeing them become a reality.
God is stirring something extraordinary in the hearts of young people across Scotland and beyond. We are witnessing a generation awakening with courage, compassion and a hunger for purpose signs of a movement only he could ignite. By his grace we are not just observers but participants, called to invest in, equip and champion the rising generation God is shaping. This is our moment to respond with boldness and generosity, so that what God is doing in and through Scotland’s young people today will echo far beyond tomorrow.
