Firstly⊠Happy Easter!
We hope amidst all the hard work performances and support youâve managed to squeeze in some pre-easter chocolate! Before anything else, a huge and heartfelt thank you for this term. The energy weâve seen from students this term is what makes SupaJam, SupaJam. To all our carers and guardians thank you for your support, it means so much to us.

Which brings us to some of our biggest news, five colleges (yes, FIVE!!). Weâre equal parts excited, proud, and occasionally staring into the middle distance wondering who signed that off. But we want to bring SupaJam to the masses! World takeover coming soon?
Behind the scenes, weâve been working with SLT to make sure we grow not just bigger, but better. More inclusive, thoughtful, sustainable, and still unmistakably SupaJam (with more divisive wallpaper!)
What a term itâs been.
In true SupaJam fashion, just as Swanley settled into its shiny new building, the old one decided to have a moment, a full-on leak (not a polite drip). Functional Skills relocated at speed into what weâll generously call a âcosyâ setup. Thank you to all the students for handling it with such humour and understanding, your ability to adapt is admirable. Thankfully, normal service (and dry ceilings) has now resumed.
The Summer Term is nearly here. Longer days, gigs, festivals, work experience, and watching you all pull everything together. Easily one of the best parts of the year - we canât wait to see all your hard work pay off!
Have a brilliant break and weâll see you in a couple of weeks.
David and Nick
SupaJam Earls Court has been officially SupaJam Earls Court has been officially launched and we hosted an incredible launched and we hosted an incredible launch party to celebrate! launch party to celebrate!
On the 19th March, staff from across the existing SupaJam colleges gathered at SupaJam Earls Court to welcome prospective students, families, representatives from the local authorities and other professionals from the creative music industry to show off our newest site! It was wonderful to have everyone together and to start SupaJam Earls Court on a high.
The site is beautiful! High ceilings, large windows that let in the gorgeous London skyline as well as an outdoor space that will give our students a secure place to get some fresh air.

Whatâs a launch party at SupaJam without a live performance! The set was opened by SupaJam Canterbury and Swanley students who gave some outstanding performances of songs theyâve been working on this term. The performance was a great way for new students to see how our students learn to work together in a live band setting. The launch was also treated to a special performance from singer-songwriter Alex Francis. Alex is a wonderful singer who is rapidly becoming popular due to his captivating ability to blend pop music with timeless soulful influences. Everyone who performed was unbelievable and it set the perfect tone for the rest of the launch event.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along. To our new students seeing the college for the first time, we hoped you felt welcome and excited about what your college days could look like inside this building. To the guardians that came along, we hope you saw how much we champion our young people and help them achieve their dreams. To everyone else that came, we hope you were impressed by our offerwe love working with our local communities so if thereâs any way you can and want to support us - get in touch!
Our newest Swan Studio at SupaJam Earls Court is a really high grade professional space. Kensington and Chelsea Borough Council recommended a studio designer and builder Dax Liniere to create this. Heâs a genius and his vision for the Earls Court studio was wild. Dax felt the old cafeteria would make the best studio and while this was hugely ambitious, his vision was clear The SupaJam Earls Court studio has such a vibe; high ceilings, raw acoustics and gorgeous natural lighting.
Marshall Studio have donated so much equipment that the Earls Court Studio feels practically sponsored by them. This quality of equipment has pushed Earls Court to become our flagship studio where weâll be able to host students from all our colleges for professional recording sessions! The site is fully accessible and has a vast amount of space. We canât wait until students are owning this space and creating incredible music on the daily.

Now is the time to submit your demos or finished songs to Sam Coppins so youâre in with a chance to be featured on our next compilation album! If your song is chosen you will be supported in recording it professionally and will have it released on the next compilation album!

The Creative Music Industries Podcast has created an incredible series this term: âBehind the Soundsâ. Click the links below to listen to behind the scenes interviews from our students who contributed to this year's compilation album.
If you were on the album and havenât recorded your interview yet, thereâs still time! Get in contact with David Maitland (david.maitland@supajameducation.org) and he can help organise your audio or video interview.

Since the last edition of âIn The Mixâ The Creative Industries Podcast has turned two years old! The last two years have been incredible. In that time, students have helped David interview 76 different guests, all with different expertise in the entertainment industry!!
David Maitland started this podcast, because growing up in a rural Scottish town, neither he, his teachers, or any adults in his life knew anyone in the music industry. Working in music felt like "that is what other people do". Which is, of course, not true: anyone can!
So, David began the podcast because he never wanted a student to feel like he did. The idea is that the more industry experts and artists our students get to meet, the more they will build their own confidence and inspiration. And then their own path through the mist will start to appear, and they will go head on into their own musical adventure/career!
Some guest highlights have been:
David, who was Head of Marketing for Fender Guitars (and now works for Orange amps!)
Darren, who ran the social media campaign behind the Libertines' recent Number One Album
Georgina, a voice actor who has worked on many BBC programmes
Black Bordello, who have toured the UK 3 times in the last 12 months, and even played in NYC!
We canât wait to see what The Creative Industry Podcast achieves in the next two years and of course weâll be sharing the journey with you!
This podcast celebrates our two year anniversary, chats about how it can help you as a music maker, and what to expect from the podcast in the future.
This weekâs episode features Suzanna, lead tech at Brighton venue Daltons, sharing her journey from rural beginnings to music production, e-sports, and live sound engineering. She also talks about navigating ADHD and why it shouldnât be a barrier to pursuing your passions. Bonus podcast, recorded live in Canterbury! Find out how to get WORK EXPERIENCE at a HUGE Festival! - bOing Festival - Canterbury

National Careers Week ran from the 2nd - 7th March and this year the theme was âOwn Your Futureâ. Our SupaJam colleges hosted a range of Careers week events to help our students plan for the next steps after SupaJam.
Swanley hosted a careers drop-in clinic where students were able to access guidance, ask questions about their career pathways and their next steps after SupaJam. In the afternoon there was a panel discussion organised by Swanleyâs Student Progression Support Advisor, Laura and hosted by Swan Studios' very own Sam Coppins. The panel consisted of Florence Sommerville â Singer-songwriter and UK Country Artist of the Year 2025, Phil Swan - Guitarist, musician, writer, and producer, Alan Cackett â Artist manager and John Collins - Head of CountryLine Radio. The discussion provided insights into industry pathways, career development, and the realities of working in the music sector. The careers day ended with a wonderful performance from Florence Sommerville.

Brighton also hosted a well attended Drop-In Clinic. This morning event was particularly useful for those preparing to leave at the end of the academic year. Students received guidance and were able to set actions and begin planning effectively for their next steps beyond SupaJam. For one Brighton student it has also led them being paired up with a Canterbury student who is getting into DJing and looking for a peer mentor.
Canterbury hosted a pathway morning with several organisations bringing stalls in the common room, allowing students to explore opportunities and speak directly with representatives. Participating organisations included: Bemix, EKC Apprenticeships, Fenner Frost Foundation, Beams, Gulbenkian, SALT College and F2E.
Canterbury also hosted a live podcast recording and organised by David M, centred on the theme: âThe Making of a Song.â Panel participants included: Oz Craggs âStudio owner, music producer, and mix engineer, Lucy May Walker âSinger-songwriter, Noel Leeman âMarketing and creative design professional and musician and Katie Leeman â Marketing and creative design professional. The discussion explored the collaborative and creative processes involved in producing a song, offering students insights into multiple industry roles.

SupaJam Brighton has had a great term! Our WaterBear gig was one of the best yet, with a highlight being Level 2 students Kieran and Kieran performing their DnB DJ set with live drums. Itâs truly astounding how far our students confidence and talents have come along. The SupaJam Brighton Machine Room has been busy this term as well, as students supported the recording of a podcast series from Flourish mentors. They are currently creating a podcast series interviewing young neurodiverse women about their experiences in having their needs recognised. Itâs a really important topic and we look forward to sharing the episodes with you when theyâre ready!
Our additional curriculum classes have also been very busy this term in the kitchen and at the rock climbing walls. Students have been getting active and making smoothies for the whole college!

A smashing term at SupaJam Canterbury has been had by all! One of the main highlights was our trip to the Royal Opera House in London where students toured the beautifully grand theatre. They got to see some opera singers in their rehearsal, visited backstage where they make the sets, props and costumes and even where they dye their own fabrics for the costumes! The students were also shown how they can volunteer and get involved with events happening at the Royal Opera House.
Canterbury have had two stand out performances this term as well. One was at the al HMV where a large group of students did a gig during the day. The performances were outstanding and the student-run technical group helped the sets flow smoothly. nterbury students also performed in their end of term showcase which just gets better and better each time they do it!

SupaJam Swanley has had a busy last half term, especially in the kitchen where students have been learning to cook healthy meals from scratch through their additional curriculum. They have also compared the foods they have cooked to processed foods, looking at texture, appearance, cost, taste, smell etc and rating them accordingly.
Cooking hasnât just been for additional curriculum this term as a Swanley maths class put their knowledge of measuring and fractions to good use to make a delicious chocolate cake.
Swanley also hosted the first ever SupaJam Foundation Alumni gig! The set was performed by singer Daisy and Justin, exstudents who have both gone on to study music and are ambassadors of the SupaJam Foundation. The gig was incredibly successful and weâll definitely be doing more in the future! In addition, students made Easter cakes and decorated eggs which went on sale to raise funds for the Supajam charity. What a brilliant term!

Wandsworth have had another successful term and the site is looking wonderful! Students have been hard at work creating new music, performing together and finishing coursework for their modules. To celebrate their hard work Wandsworth hosted a breakfast buffet where students got to try loads of different types of fruit and breakfast options and use their new found energy to play badminton in the park.
To celebrate the end of term staff and students are competing in a musical easter egg hunt! There are musical challenges all around the college to complete as well as an end of term pizza lunch! Good luck to all students competing!
