Kicking Off The Holiday Season In Broward’s First City
An absolute seafood lover’s dream, some of Miami’s finest chefs will showcase their expertise and passion for seafood. Their offerings range from decadent ceviche and lobster to paella and crab legs.
Broward’s first incorporated gained fame as the “Antique Capital of the South,” along Federal Highway. Celebrate the City’s 120th birthday and the magic of the holiday season at Light Up the Night, presented by Dania After Dark on Saturday, November 16th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Dania Beach City Hall Plaza will transform into a winter wonderland filled with community spirit and cheer. Event admission and parking is free. Complimentary gifts to the first 120 attendees, while supplies last. Dania Beach History Originally known as Modello, the city traces its roots back to the late 19th century when it became a hub for tomato farming and the Florida East Coast Railway. The growing community optimized a spirit of progress that played a pivotal role in its development and resilience through challenges. The historic roots of the first city in Broward County date back to the 1880s, when much of what is now the FEC railroad line was laid through the area. In recognition of this transportation advantage, a pioneer and developer named W. C. Valentine planned a Dania Beach, Page 6A
of the country’s foremost foragers, traveling coast to coast in search of rusty gold. Where other people see dilapidated barns and overgrown yards, Wolfe sees the beauty of long-lost things and the stories of the people who made them, used them and somehow saved them. Wolfe spends as much time as he can on the road, often with Frank Fritz, his friend of 20 years and fellow picker, in tow. “A picker’s kind of like a nomad,” he explains. And for Wolfe, the people he meets and the tales they tell are an integral part of the journey—ultimately as valuable as the rare finds he unearths in their barns, attics and sheds.

large events like concerts and playoffs. According to a recent INRIX Parking Study survey, American drivers reportedly spend up to 17 hours per year just searching for parking. Many
