Baby On Board, But Is Baby Properly Buckled? Research Shows Parents Transition Their Child’s Seat Too Soon AAA Newsroom
“Parents are often eager to turn their young children forward-facing in their car seats too soon.” Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group During National Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept. 15-21), AAA and the National Safety Council (NSC) are releasing a safety alert for parents. A new AAA analysis of five years of government crash data reveals a concerning trend: child seat and booster use declines after a child turns three, despite the continued need for these safety devices. In Florida, 25.3%
of parents and caregivers transitioned their children to a booster seat too soon and 93.5% transitioned to an adult seatbelt too soon. This is alarming, as over four million children aged 11 and under were involved in car crashes, from 2018 to 2022, resulting in 547,000 injuries and nearly 3,000 fatalities. “We know parents and caregivers go to great lengths to protect their children,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Yet, even with the best intentions, parents may unknowingly endanger their children by putting them in the wrong seat or not securing them properly. Good Or Sweet? How Do You Like Your Year?! By Rabbi Moishe Kievman - Chabad Chayil
Students from Hebrew School are taught Shofar history and tradition. “Shana Tova Umetuka” “May you have a good and sweet year” is what we typically wish each other in the month leading up to the Jewish New Year, and I bet you’ve always wondered why we give a double wish, that the year should be both good and sweet. If it’s good, isn’t it sweet? It’s got to be more than just poetic. The Talmud teaches us that
everything that happens in the world is for the good. And although many times it seems far from good, you should know that ultimately it somehow is for the good. We therefore wish each other, that not just should you have a good year, but also a sweet one. A year that is not just ultimately for the good, but rather one where the good is obvious to all. A year that is deliciously sweet! Many give each other Tegalach, Honey Cookies or Honey Cake - known as Lekach. In fact the Chassidic custom is to
specifically ask someone (usually the Rabbi, but not necessarily) for a piece of or a Shtickel Lekach. We hope and pray that if there’s anything that we must ask or beg anyone for in the coming year, we should fulfill it with that ask. It is also the custom of eating sweet foods on Rosh Hashanah itself, especially an apple dipped in honey with a special prayer that G-d grant us a good and sweet year. The Challah is also dipped in honey. A special dish known as Tzimmes is a European carrot concoction
