The eight-day festival of Passover is celebrated this year from sundown on Wednesday evening, April 1st, 2026, until after nightfall on Thursday, April 9th, 2026, with its highlight, the festive “Seder” dinners on the first 2 nights of the holiday. The festival of Passover commemorates the freedom of the Jewish nation from enslavement in Ancient Egypt, some 3338 years ago, in 1313 BCE. After many decades of slavery to the Egyptian pharaohs, G-d sent Moses to Pharaoh with a message to: “Let My People Go.” When Moses’ warnings were dismissed, G-d sent upon Egypt ten plagues, the last one being the killing of the Egyptian firstborn while “passing over” the Jewish homes—hence the name of the holiday.

Caring For A Special Needs Dog

Providing a safe, loving home for a dog is rewarding for many reasons, and it can sometimes be even more so for a canine companion with special needs. Dogs impacted by blindness, deafness, the loss of a limb, or a chronic medical or behavioral condition can live a full and happy life if its owners provide a bit of extra care and consideration.

Dr. Lori Teller, a Clinical Professor at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, gives advice on simple accommodations owners can make for dogs with special needs in order to maximize their safety and comfort.

Simple Accommodations

Special needs can include conditions that dogs are born with, those that arise due to a medical condition, or natural changes as they age.

Generally, dogs with special needs are resilient and adapt well, especially with support and consideration for their individual needs. This is especially true for dogs that lose their sight, hearing, or one of their limbs.

“Dogs that have lost their vision are able to acclimate fairly quickly; they start to rely on their other senses to adjust,” Teller said.

Caring for a blind dog may include:

• Maintaining a stable environment where furniture and objects are not frequently rearranged

• Providing a clear path to their beds, food, water bowls, and other areas where they spend most of their time

• Being increasingly aware of their activity — especially around swimming pools

For pets that are hearing impaired, there are numerous methods owners can use to effectively communicate.

“Deaf dogs can learn sign language and be trained to sit, stay, lie down, come, heel, and more,” Teller said. “Since they cannot hear their name called, some owners benefit from using a flashing light to attract their attention, and they can be trained to respond to touch as well.”

Finally, most dogs that lose a leg adapt

well to having three legs and are able to return to their prior exercise routines.

“Dogs are amazing,” Teller said. “I have seen so many three-legged dogs that take up walking, running, and most of their general activities very quickly.”

However, an unhealthy diet can hinder three-legged dogs’ ability to adjust to their new lifestyle and can also lead to further health struggles.

“While it is important to keep all dogs at a healthy weight, it is of the utmost importance for a dog that is three-legged, as additional weight puts extra stress on their remaining joints and can aggravate Arthritis as the dog ages,” Teller said.

Being A Constant Source Of Support

Behavioral challenges and chronic medical conditions may take a bit more effort to accommodate, but a veterinarian can help advise on the best ways to address your pet’s specific needs.

“For example, dogs that are paralyzed in the rear will need help getting up and moving around,” Teller said. “Carts or doggy wheelchairs can help with mobility and allow a dog to move freely around its environment.”

Nursing care is especially important for

dogs with multiple chronic conditions or that need help with urination and defection; these pets tend to do best if the owner or another caretaker can be regularly available to help.

“Pets that cannot urinate on their own may require their bladders to be manually expressed multiple times each day and are prone to urinary tract infections,” Teller said. “If they also have trouble passing a bowel movement, they may need a special diet, stool softeners, and laxatives.

“These dogs may also need to wear diapers and will require extra time and attention for grooming to maintain adequate hygiene, and they are also at higher risk of skin infections that may require veterinary intervention,” Teller said.

Dogs with special needs may have an increased cost of care, but a veterinarian can discuss treatment options and costsaving measures to ensure the pet maintains the highest possible quality of life.

Cultivating A Healthy Lifestyle

Dogs with special needs of any kind may require extra time to maintain their mental stimulation through specialized toys, activities, and experiences.

“Blind or deaf dogs may enjoy puzzle

toys where they can use their sense of smell to find treats,” Teller said. “These animals can also benefit from leash walks or safe places outdoors to explore the variety of smells and pleasant weather.”

When walking dogs with missing limbs, it is important to allow them to set the pace and determine how far they are comfortable going.

“Paralyzed dogs can be fitted with a dog cart or put in a doggy stroller and be walked around the neighborhood as well,” Teller said.

Despite the lifestyle changes a dog with special needs is experiencing, their excitement for what the day has to offer remains the same.

“The great thing about dogs is that they are just happy to be alive, and they embrace every moment,” Teller said. “Once you make special accommodations, they do super well and can live a very happy and fulfilling life.”

John Giraldo Is Helping FPL Build A Stronger Miami

Miami resident John Giraldo knows firsthand what it means to build stability through perseverance. Today, he leads projects in Florida Power & Light Company’s Storm Secure Underground Program.

Long before he began helping Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) strengthen communities across South Florida, John Giraldo was focused on building stability through perseverance. With little

program based on criteria approved by the Florida Public Service Commission and designed to prioritize areas that can most benefit from undergrounding. By moving power lines underground, FPL is reducing outages from wind, debris and falling trees, and delivering outstanding reliability not just during storms but yearround.

“From the start, I was involved in the SSUP pilot, including designing the pro-

deeply responsible for serving.

“I’m not just serving customers—I’m serving my neighbors, my friends, the people I see every day,” he says.

As lead project manager for SSUP, Giraldo oversees more than 100 projects at a time, coordinating teams, managing resources and navigating the challenges of moving overhead power lines underground in one of the nation’s most stormprone regions.

ancing technical demands, customer needs and the realities of South Florida’s dense urban landscape. But the payoff is clear.

During the 2024 Hurricane Season, FPL’s underground lines performed up to 15 times better than their overhead counterparts, helping keep the lights on for thousands of families and businesses when it mattered most. Day-to-day, these underground lines perform 50% better than overhead lines, delivering

to underground lines.

“Underground lines mean fewer outages, faster restoration and safer communities,” he explains. “These are benefits that resonate deeply with someone who knows the importance of stability firsthand.” Neighborhoods are selected for the

gram, reaching out to customers and figuring out how to deliver real value,” he says. “It wasn’t just a job. It was about making my own community stronger.”

For more than 25 years, Miami has been Giraldo’s home and a place he feels

“We’re building a grid that’s proactive, not reactive,” Giraldo explains. “Instead of rebuilding after every storm, we’re creating infrastructure that will last for generations.”

The work is complex and requires bal-

and reach their goals.

Through his leadership at FPL and his work in the community, Giraldo says he is trying to build a more resilient South Florida. And when he looks at Miami’s skyline today, it’s also a reminder of how far both he and the city have come.

It’s Sea Turtle Nesting Season

Sea Turtle Nesting Season takes place every year from March 1st through October 31st. During this time, the City of Hollywood’s “Turtle Friendly Lighting Ordinance” is in effect, when the City’s Hatchlings are attracted to light. In an urban beach environment, artificial light from buildings can disorient hatchlings and attract them away from the ocean. Turtle friendly lighting can minimize disorientation and make Hollywood Beach more hospitable to these endangered species.

The Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program (BCSTCP) documented 3,341 nests on the County’s 24mile coastline (including the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park) in 2025. Our beach is the desired nesting habitat for three species of endangered sea turtles: leatherbacks, loggerheads, and greens. It is vital that everyone does their part to ensure future successful nesting seasons on Hollywood Beach.

Sea Turtle Friendly Lighting Lighting near the beach should be “sea turtle-friendly” and follow these three criteria established by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC):

Keep it low:

• Fixtures should be mounted as low as possible to achieve their purpose

• Fixtures/bulbs should produce the lowest lumens (light output) necessary for the task

Keep it shielded:

• The bulb, lamp or glowing lens should be shielded from the beach

• Interior lights should not be visible from the beach

• Close curtains, shades and blinds after sunset

Keep it long (wavelength):

• Fixtures/bulbs must produce long wavelength light (560 nm or longer) without filters, gels or lenses

• Amber and red LEDs are good examples of these types of light

Also keep in mind that even lights from cell phones can also disturb nesting and hatchling sea turtles. If you visit the beach at night during nesting season, keep your cell phone safely stowed in your pocket or bag.

Turtle Friendly Lighting Recognition Program

The City of Hollywood has a Turtle Friendly Lighting Recognition Program to increase awareness and compliance with the City’s turtle-friendly lighting ordinance by way of recognition of those property owners who are certified compliant.

Hollywood’s turtle friendly lighting ordinance (§108, O-2011-07) requires that exterior lights be mounted as low in elevation as possible, shielded so that the light source is not visible from the beach, directed down and away from the beach, and have a low wattage amber or red bulb. To reduce or eliminate the visibility

leavened grains known as chametz during the holiday. Chametz includes any food or drink that contains even a trace of wheat, barley, rye, oats, spelt or their derivatives, and which wasn’t guarded from leavening or fermentation. Instead, we eat matzah— flat unleavened bread, at least for the two Seder nights, when it’s a Mitzvah (biblical commandment).

Our Rabbis explain that chametz is symbolic of haughtiness and egotismtraits so harmful that they are at the root of all negative traits. This is one of the reasons why even the most miniscule amount of chametz is forbidden - for these negative traits must be completely nullified.

Few Jewish holidays evoke the same warm sentiments as Passover. Memories of family and friends gathered as the four cups of wine are poured, the four questions asked and the Matzah served, all contribute to Passover’s popularity in the Jewish community. Bringing the warmth and tradition of this festival to every major

This year’s observance will be even more celebrated, as is always the case when there’s antisemitism. Since the attacks on Simchat Torah, October 7th, 2023 in Israel and on college campuses around the world, more and more Jews who were for whatever reason not affiliated, started coming closer to their heritage and began celebrating more. When a Jew is attacked simply because they are Jewish, they want to know more about what it means to actually live like a Jew.

And after the remarks of Tucker Carlson and Candice Owen’s ysv’z, it’s now well established that there’s no better place to celebrate than Chabad.

The Passover Seder is a feast that includes reading the Haggada, drinking wine, telling stories, eating special foods, singing, and other Passover traditions. The central observance of Passover—eating matzah, the unleavened bread—will take center stage at the Seder, with handmade round shmurah matzah, “The Rolls-

The Seders take participants through the wondrous liberation of our ancestors from Egyptian bondage, while sharing the relevance and beauty of the age-old festival in our modern lives. Passover is not simply a celebration of the historic liberation of an ancient people. Passover is about our own personal liberation – physically, emotionally and spiritually, a message that rings true this year perhaps more than ever before in our lifetimes as we still face the challenges of growing antisemitism. Passover inspires us to break free from the shackles restraining us from reaching new heights –in our lives, relationships and connection with G-d.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Broward County Recruiting Young Professionals To Join The Newly Formed BIG League

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Broward County is recruiting young professionals to join the BIG League. Members will come together to build community, grow professionally and change the game for Broward’s youth through mentorship and service.

“This is not just about joining a group, it’s about leadership, community and impact,” said Sabrina Maday, BIG League Co-Chair. “The relationships formed here, the work we take on together and the impact that we create will influence the future of BBBS of Broward County for generations to come.”

The BIG League is hosting a “draft party” to recruit new members on Thursday, April 16th, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bar Betty speakeasy in The Sunness Supper Club at 2465 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33304. Admission is complimentary, but advance RSVP is required.

“The BIG League is where passionate young professionals come together to make a real impact in our community and expand their networking opportunities. It’s a professional connection with purpose,” added Ryan Allison, Co-Chair. “Join the BIG League today to create awareness, recruit BIGs and change the lives of Littles across Broward County.”

The BIG League is designed to strengthen the future of BBBS of Broward while building meaningful connections with emerging leaders across the county. Through mission-driven events, hands-on service experiences and personal and professional growth with like-minded individuals, the BIG League introduces young professionals to the BBBS mission of cultivating a community committed to changing the lives of youth.

“It is so important for the next generation of leaders to be involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters. As young professionals, they know firsthand how essential mentorship has been in their education, careers and lives,” said Malena Mendez, President and CEO of BBBS of Broward County. “As they pay it forward to the youth of today and tomorrow, they will make a major impact on our organization not only through their own contributions, but by inspiring their peers to join our mission as well.”

Each member of the BIG League serves as an ambassador, connector and champion of the BBBS mission. Their leadership and hard work will increase funding and decrease the number of youth on the waitlist as BBBS of Broward County paves the path to matching 3,000 Littles and Bigs. Raising Awareness In The Community

Two Out Of Three People Will Be Impacted By Drunk Driving In Their Lifetime

Drunk driving deaths have increased by 31% over the past decade, with someone being killed or injured in a drunk driving crash every 78 seconds. Two out of three people will be impacted by drunk driving in their lifetime. Drunk driving is a 100 percent preventable crime, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)’s goal is to end impaired driving.

In the ongoing fight against drunk driving and drugged driving, MADD Southeast Florida will host the 15th Annual UKG & Salah Foundation Hero’s Pride Move With MADD & MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K Presented by the Florida Panthers & the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County on Sunday, April 26th, 2026. Thousands of walkers, runners, strollers, wheelchair athletes, dogs and supporters of all ages will come together in downtown Fort Lauderdale to take steps to raise awareness and funds to end impaired driving for good. In-person registration will begin at 6:00 a.m., the ceremony will take place at 7:00 a.m., and the in-person race will start near Huizenga Plaza at 7:30 a.m. Awards will be given for top fundraiser, top team (private and corporate), as well as overall and age-group awards for 5K finishers.

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary, the annual event will debut its rebrand as Move With MADD & MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K in 2026, reflecting expanded momentum in the fight against impaired driving and deepened community engagement. Heather Geronemus founded Move With MADD and MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K Founder and Chairperson after her late father, Dr. Robert Perry Geronemus, was struck and killed by a drunk driver in 2009.

Move With MADD & MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K is a community-driven 5K that raises awareness about drunk and drugged driving and underage drinking while uniting community members around MADD’s mission. Since it was established in 2011, Move With MADD & MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K has raised more than $4.2 Million that stays in the South Florida community to save lives and support victims of drunk driving, making it the most successful grassroots fundraiser in the history of MADD. Every dollar donated remains in South Florida to provide victim services and prevention education at no cost.

Festivities will include children’s activities, an awards ceremony, live musical performances, and vendor/ educational booths. WTVJ-NBC 6 and Telemundo 51 Community Reporter Miriam Tapia will emcee the event and energize the crowd. The event will be attended by dignitaries, including Move With MADD and MADD Dash Fort Lauderdale 5K Founder and Chairperson Heather Geronemus; Honorary Chairperson Colonel Nichole Anderson, Undersheriff of Broward Sheriff’s Office; Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony; Sergeant Ryan Clifton from Broward Sheriff’s Office; Sergeant Trevor Thomas from Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s DUI Unit; and Lieutenant Indiana Miranda from Florida Highway Patrol.

MADD is committed to leading prevention efforts with young adults, collaborating with law enforcement to keep roads safe from impaired drivers, as well as advocating for stricter sentencing and stronger laws, including the HALT Law that mandates anti-drunk driving technology in every new car. MADD continues to provide support services to victims and survivors of impaired driving at no charge through victim services specialists and the 24-Hour Victim Help Line.

“What began as a local walk for awareness has grown into one of the most impactful events in South Florida and the most successful grassroots fundraiser in MADD history. We have united thousands of people who refuse to accept impaired driving as inevitable,” said Geronemus. “Together, we’ve saved lives, honored loved ones, empowered survivors, educated youth, and raised the critical funds that fuel MADD’s mission to end impaired driving once and for all.”

Heart & Heritage Compliments Of Chef Nikol Zarbalas

Chef Nikol Zarbalas – the indefatigable chef and restaurateur behind Hellenic restaurant in Coral Springs – is redefining Greek and Mediterranean-inspired dining with a restaurant built on heritage, heart, and 100% house-made, from-scratch cooking. Following a successful soft opening in early January 2026, Zarbalas and her tight-knit staff (some of whom are her own children) are preparing for the official grand opening later this month, which will include the introduction of a full bar program. “We started small by design, focusing on our flavors and execution so that when we officially opened with all the bells and whistles, we’d be ready,” says Zarbalas. “Hellenic can now be everything we want it to be, a restaurant that delivers as much substance as it does soul and never lets up when it comes to making its guests feel at home.”

For those in the know, Hellenic has been a hotspot since it first arrived on the scene in a much smaller incarnation and space in 2019, where it quickly built a loyal following and earned recognition. So much so, it was featured on Diners, DriveIns and Dives, and Chef Zarbalas herself appeared on Guy’s Grocery Games, further solidifying her reputation for bold flavors and dynamic culinary talent. The growing national spotlight only deepened guests’ curiosity about the flavors coming out of Zarbalas’ kitchen. Now located in a more spacious footprint at 10436 West Atlantic Boulevard, Coral Springs, Florida 33071 both loyal fans and the uninitiated have space to stretch out and enjoy the big flavors and soulful cookery Zabalas is known for. Hellenic’s menu celebrates traditional Greek flavors interpreted through Chef Zarbalas’ modern lens. The menu is expansive, overflowing with temptations that can be ordered any number of ways; as shareables for grazing or as a la carte main plates for a more traditional dining experience. Regardless of how you order, here as some signature selections across multiple categories that should not be missed: Greek Heat Wings – fried crispy and tossed in a spicy house sauce (appetizer); a Greek Quesadilla with pita, mozzarella, diced tomatoes, pickled onions, a choice of protein and special Hellenic sauce and as seen on the Food Network, and the Greek Dip – braised lamb, caramelized onion and cheese on crusty French bread with a sidecar of au jus (handhelds); Kataifi Fried Shrimp –shrimp wrapped in kataifi (shredded phyllo), served atop cheesy Greek-style grits (trahana) and finished with a jalapeno simple syrup and fresh herbs; Moussaka and Smothered Chicken – charbroiled chicken breast served over rice with sauteed vegetables and dressed with a feta cream sauce (entrees).

For brunch, look no further, Chef’s Waffle Melt, a fried chicken sandwich on a waffle with bacon, egg, cheese, avocado, and Shrimp & Trahana – sauteed shrimp with trahana, loukaniko, peppers, onion, and tomatoes, and finished with crumbled feta. Of course, for dessert, there’s nothing better than Bougatsa – warm semolina custard wrapped in phyllo and baked until golden, finished with a dusting of sugar and cinnamon, and served hot; baklava, from scratch, and baklava cheesecake – a generous slice of New York-style cheesecake topped with dulce de leche baklava and dusted with powdered sugar.

The Hellenic business model is as

community-oriented as it is flavor-forward, with sustainability a core principle. No food goes to waste; any surplus not used in-house is donated directly to the community. Her advocacy reaches far beyond food, as Chef regularly steps into her local community to personally support the homeless and those in need, reinforcing her conviction that hospitality is an act of service. That sense of responsibility to the ingredients, to the craft, and to the people being served didn’t happen by accident. It was shaped long before. Born into a family deeply rooted in hospitality, Chef Zarbalas draws inspiration from her upbringing in a Greek household with ties to the Peloponnese region of Greece. Her parents owned the beloved Zorba’s Diner, with one location in New York and another in Philadelphia, along with a series of pizza shops, food carts, and food trucks, where she first learned that the kitchen is more than a workplace; it is the heart of the home. She credits her mother for instilling in her both the technical knowledge and passion that now define her culinary philosophy. Building on that foundation, Zarbalas

carried her family’s traditions into her own ventures. Before opening Hellenic, she launched a successful catering company and later operated “The Food Republic” in Fort Lauderdale, honing her identity as a chef and host. Each chapter strengthened her belief that food is a bridge between people and cultures. Today, that belief comes full circle as she stands in the kitchen alongside her oldest son, Dimitrios, who serves as Executive Sous Chef, making Hellenic not just a restaurant, but a continuation of her family’s legacy.

Naturally, that philosophy is reflected in the space itself. Designed entirely by Chef Zarbalas, Hellenic blends polished concrete floors and exposed ceilings with warm lighting, cozy seating, and inviting textures, balancing industrial edge with homelike comfort. At the center of the dining room sits a striking 20-seat

communal table, repurposed from the original counter at Hellenic’s first location, now reimagined for shared meals, chef’s table experiences, and special gatherings. Tucked into a cozy corner is a free library with over 2,000 books, from which Zabalas invites all guests to take a book or leave a book, but no matter what, feel free to “gather, linger, and connect.” As Hellenic steps into this new chapter, Chef Nikol Zarbalas remains rooted in the values that have gotten her to this point: authenticity, family, and heartfelt hospitality. What started as a small neighborhood concept has grown into a vibrant gathering place where tradition meets innovation and every guest is treated like family. With each dish and every shared table, Hellenic continues its promise to honor its heritage, serve with pride, and create a true home away from home.

Hellenic is located at 10436 West Atlantic Boulevard, Coral Springs, Florida 33071. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 p.m. Noon10:00 p.m.; Brunch is served exclusively on Sundays from 12:00 p.m. Noon - 4:00 p.m.. Strengthening Cardiovascular Care For The Future

While American Heart Month just passed, every month should draw attention to Cardiovascular Disease, the leading cause of death in the United States. Although medical advances have improved outcomes over time, rising rates of Obesity and Diabetes and an aging population are placing new pressure on health systems to plan for the future. Memorial Healthcare System, in partnership with the Memorial Foundation and the Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute, is doing just that, advancing a forwardlooking approach to Cardiovascular care focused on clinical integration, physician training and targeted investment.

According to Ralph M. Levy, MD, Chief of Cardiology at Memorial Healthcare System and a member of the Memorial Foundation Board of Directors, Cardiovascular care is constantly evolving. “The field continues to change,” Dr. Levy said. “Our knowledge, our tools and our needs change with it. As new medications, procedures and technologies emerge, meeting those changes requires ongoing investment in equipment, infrastructure and innovation.”

When Dr. Levy assumed the role of Chief of Cardiology more than seven years ago, Memorial’s Cardiovascular program had not yet fully adopted an integrated institute model. One of Dr. Levy’s primary priorities was building a coordinated structure with defined subspecialties and a strong culture of collaboration. Today, the Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute operates as a fully integrated program, with physicians across multiple subspecialties working together to evaluate complex cases and determine the most effective course of care for each patient.

The Institute now includes 60 to 70 physicians specializing in areas such as Electrophysiology, advanced Heart Failure and transplantation, Cardiac Imaging, Interventional Cardiology and Clinical Cardiology. Dedicated teams support heart rhythm care, advanced Heart Failure services and sophisticated diagnostic imaging, while interventional and structural cardiologists perform procedures including stent placement and minimally invasive valve interventions. Cardiac, transplant and vascular surgeons work closely with the Institute as part of a comprehensive, team-based care model.

cases and align on treatment plans.

Weekly Cardiovascular rounds further support this collaborative environment, bringing clinicians together to share clinical advances, emerging research and insights from visiting experts.

The Institute has made a deliberate shift toward a more academic model of

for Cardiovascular services continues to rise as the population ages and rates of Obesity and Diabetes increase.

“We’re seeing more patients, more complexity and fewer physicians entering the field at the same pace,” Levy said.

“That makes it essential to invest not just in facilities and technology, but in training

consideration for heart programs nationwide. Even as the Memorial system recruits new physicians, schedules fill quickly, reflecting the volume of patients seeking care. To meet that demand, the Institute must continue expanding capacity and updating the tools clinicians rely on every day.

entering each year. The program has graduated its first two classes over the past two years, and Memorial has begun hiring fellowship graduates to join the medical staff.

“When you’re teaching fellows, everyone stays focused and accountable,” Dr. Levy said. “You have to explain your decisions and justify your approach, and that raises the level of care across the board.”

Each year, the Institute manages an estimated 120,000 patient encounters. Just as important as its size is how the program functions. Physicians meet regularly across disciplines to review complex

Training is also central to addressing long-term access to Cardiovascular care, as the specialty faces a national workforce challenge. Nearly a quarter of cardiologists are over the age of 60, while demand

National projections reflect that con cern. According to the American College of Cardiology, demand for Cardiovascular care is expected to outpace the cardiology workforce over the next decade as retirements accelerate and training capacity remains limited. The organization has also reported that more than 60% of U.S. counties have no cardiologists.

As demand for Cardiovascular care continues to increase, access is a central

Philanthropy plays a complementary role in supporting Memorial’s long-term goal by helping to address targeted needs that emerge as Cardiovascular care continues to evolve. In the past, philanthropic investment has supported community health screenings and specialized equipment such as a Cardiometabolic Stress Laboratory, which has strengthened diagnostic capabilities for patients with complex conditions.

One current area of focus is cardiac imaging. As imaging volumes grow, Memorial is evaluating advanced workflow technologies designed to improve efficiency and expand capacity. According to Dr. Levy, one proposed imaging platform could increase throughput by as much as 30% to 40%, allowing physicians to interpret studies more efficiently and enable more patients to be evaluated in a timely manner.

“New technology can standardize visualization and analysis, allowing physicians to interpret complex studies more efficiently and reduce delays in patient care,” Dr. Levy said. “It’s a very specific, measurable need, and we can clearly define the benefit.”

Memorial also continues to invest in Infrastructure that supports Cardiovascular care, including an approximately $15 Million retrofit of its Memorial Hospital West facility. This project will relocate Clinical Cardiology offices, house Memorial’s first dedicated Cardiac CT scanner, and expand capacity for adult heart transplant services, while the remainder of Memorial Cardiac & Vascular Institute services will continue to operate at Memorial Regional Hospital. Dr. Levy recently joined the Memorial Foundation Board, where he hopes to help align philanthropic priorities with the evolving needs of adult cardiovascular care, which is central to the health system’s mission and long-term impact.

“Philanthropy allows us to move faster and be more precise in how we expand access,” Dr. Levy said. “It’s about investing strategically in capacity so we can meet the needs of our community over the long term.”

For Dr. Levy, the message is one of readiness. Cardiovascular Disease is not going away, and the responsibility of health systems is to be prepared. That means having the right people, the right tools and the right infrastructure in place not only for today, but for the future.

BOL Hospitality Group Announces

The Debut Of Zho, A Pan-Asian Concept Coming To Dania Pointe

BOL Hospitality Group (BHG), the South Florida hospitality company behind Bae Korean Grill, The BOL Asian Cuisine, Seminole Cigar Landing, Davidoff of Geneva Cigar Lounge at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood and Social Room in Hollywood, has executed a lease for Zho, a new pan-Asian restaurant slated to open at Dania Pointe in Q4 2026. The 6,700-square-foot concept will be located on Pointe Drive adjacent to the Fort Lauderdale Improv. The groundbreaking is anticipated to take place in Q2 2026. Named after the Chinese word for a boat used for travel, Zho is conceived as a culinary vessel guiding guests on a contemporary journey across Asia. The concept will be rooted in Chinese culinary tradition and refined through Japanese technique, presenting distinct regional identities with precision and restraint. Rather than blending cuisines into fusion, Zho will highlight the integrity of each culinary influence while offering a cohesive, experience-driven menu. “We have been developing this concept for years with a clear vision,” said Eric Douglas, CoFounder of BOL Hospitality Group. “Today’s guest expects more than a meal. They expect intention, craftsmanship and an environment that reflects the quality of what is on the plate. Zho is designed to meet that expectation with depth, discipline and atmosphere.” The culinary pro-

gram will feature refined interpretations of regional specialties from China and Japan, complemented by rotating influences from other Asian regions. The beverage program will follow a similarly deliberate approach, incorporating Asian-inspired ingredients and techniques into a contemporary cocktail experience designed to elevate the overall dining environment.

Designed by architect RJS and interior designer P2 Interiors, Zho’s interior design will emphasize warm woods, layered textures and architectural restraint to create a setting that feels both contemporary and immersive. Zho will accommodate approximately 210 guests and feature inviting patio seating, a dynamic open kitchen anchored by a sushi bar as an experiential focal point.

Located just off I-95 between Griffin and Stirling Roads, Dania Pointe continues to establish itself as one of South Florida’s most dynamic mixed-use destinations. Zho is expected to further elevate the property’s culinary profile and contribute to its continued evolution as a regional dining and entertainment hub.

Founded in 2013 by Eric Douglas and Hai Nguyen, BOL Hospitality Group has built a portfolio of high-energy, experience-driven concepts across South Florida. The group is best known for Bae Korean Grill at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, which has become a

destination for interactive Korean barbecue dining, as well as Social Room, a nightlife-forward lounge concept in Hollywood recognized for its curated music programming and premium cocktail offerings. BOL Hospitality Group also operates The BOL Asian Cuisine, Seminole Cigar Landing and Davidoff of Geneva Cigar Lounge at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, reinforcing its longstanding relationship with the Seminole Hard Rock campus. Hai Nguyen oversees operational strategy and concept execution, while Eric Douglas leads brand development and long-term growth initiatives. Together, the partners have established a reputation for delivering design-forward venues that balance culinary quality with strong atmosphere and guest engagement.

After selling out venues across the United States in 2025, Vishal & Sheykhar will return this summer with “The Superhit Tour,” produced by Kash Patel Productions. The composer duo will perform on Sunday, July 26th, 2026, at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, bringing one of Bollywood’s most recognizable live shows to South Florida.

Last year’s tour underscored the pair’s growing foothold in the North American market. Across multiple cities, audiences filled arenas, turning concerts into full-scale sing-alongs that stretched beyond the final encore. For those behind the tour, the message from fans was unmistakable.

“We saw such an amazing turnout and a real sense of community in 2025,” said Kash Patel, Founder and CEO of Kash Patel Productions. “In Toronto, the entire arena was on its feet. People were dancing from the first song, and the roar of the crowd didn’t let up. After a night like that, you don’t wait too long to plan the next one. It felt important to bring that energy to more cities so more communities across the country can be part of it.”

For more than two decades, Vishal & Sheykhar have helped define the sound of modern Indian cinema. The Mumbai-based duo has composed music for over 350 films across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi industries. Their catalog includes 72 number-one singles and has surpassed 3 billion global streams, reflecting a reach that extends far beyond the theater.

Their resume reads like a playlist of contemporary Bollywood staples. Songs such as “Desi Girl,” “Bang Bang,” “Nashe Si Chadh Gayi,” “Sheila Ki Jawani,” “Manwa Laage,” “Ghungroo,” and “Jhoome Jo Pathaan” remain fixtures at weddings, clubs and concert halls alike. Their work on Om Shanti Om earned the IIFA Award for Best Music Director and a Filmfare nomination, while additional honors include multiple Mirchi Music Awards and Zee Cine Awards.

The duo’s influence has also crossed borders through collaborations with Akon, Diplo, The Vamps, and Imogen Heap, introducing global pop audiences to the scale and polish of contemporary Bollywood production. Yet onstage, their catalog takes on another dimension.

“The love we experienced last year was incredible,” said Vishal Dadlani. “I love being right in the middle of that energy. When thousands of people start singing louder than the speakers, you just stand there and take it in. Meeting fans after the show and hearing what the music means to them is why we do this. This year we’re coming back with more fire, a few new surprises, and I’m ready to do it again.”

“The love we felt from audiences across the U.S. last year was truly special,” said Sheykhar Ravjiani. “For me, the music always begins as something personal, but on stage it becomes something shared and powerful. Hearing thousands of voices sing the melodies back to us is an indescribable feeling. With ‘The Superhit Tour,’ we’re bringing that same passion, scale, and emotion to new cities, and we’re looking forward to creating those moments all over again.”

“The Superhit Tour” will feature a full live band and large-scale production built around the duo’s biggest hits, balancing arena-sized dance numbers with moments that invite the crowd to carry the chorus. The addition of Nashville, long regarded as a cornerstone of American music culture, reflects the expanding presence of South Asian artists in major U.S. markets.

Confirmed Tour Dates: Saturday, July 11th, 2026: San Jose Civic, San Jose, California Sunday, July 12th, 2026: Curtis Culwell Center, Dallas, Texas Friday, July 17th, 2026: The Pinnacle, Nashville, Tennessee Sunday, July 26th, 2026: Hard Rock Live, Hollywood, Florida For venue details and ticket information, visit: https://casino.hardrock.com/hollywood/ events/vishal-sheykhar
