A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome to a summer of connection and play! Our team is excited to offer a diverse lineup of summer programs designed for community members of all ages and abilities.
Following its successful launch in January, our new online recreation system is making it easier than ever to browse activities and secure your spot in your favorite classes. This streamlined platform allows you to manage your family’s schedule, view field and facility availability, make picnic reservations and buy activity passes all in one convenient location.
Join us Saturday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for a free, family-friendly event in downtown Sunnyvale to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. This year’s celebration features several new attractions, including a 72-foot Ferris wheel and a bike parade to kick off the festivities. The event will also include expanded entertainment on two stages, amusement rides, carnival concessions and a 100-foot slide (page 5).
As you flip through this guide, be sure to look for these seasonal highlights:
• Recreation Swim (page 6)
• Family Fun Nights at the Park (page 9)
• Public Art Walking Tours (page 35)
• Sun Flair Summer Scavenger Hunt (page 58)
Our mission remains to provide a welcoming, safe space where everyone belongs. Whether you are visiting a neighborhood park, attending a library storytime or picking up a new hobby at the Senior Center, we are proud to help you create lasting summer memories.
Sincerely,
Michelle Perera Director of Library and Recreation Services
