Physique queen
Only three years into the sport, Pāpāmoa bodybuilder Abbey Yule has won a world championship title at her first ever global competition. The Mount Maunganui College dance teacher and dean won a 2024 ICN Fitness World Champion title at the ICN Natural
World Games in Canberra earlier this month. The modest athlete said the competition “went well” and explained that on show day she feels calm and relaxed as she knows she has put the hard work in and can just enjoy the experience. Her strict diet and a training routine starting
at 4.30am shows that the bodybuilder is the definition of determination and strength. “I wanted to better myself and see how I could test myself mentally, emotionally, and physically – finding where my boundaries are and how to become 1% better daily.” Yule competes in the Natural Athlete category
which limits her supplements to protein powder, pre-workout and creatine. After her build phase and prep phase, she’s finally ready for competing, stepping onto the stage in high heels and a sparkly bikini to show the audience what she’s got.
