By night, Dudley Coppard is just like any one of us, tinkering on projects and enjoying quiet times with family and friends. But by day, this mild-mannered man transforms into Prickleman and wages war against uncomfortable lawns and grass verges throughout the Bay of Plenty. Like Batman, he fashions his own gadgets. His specialised prickle eradicating equipment, built out of the parts of a mobility scooter, is quiet, runs on wheels instead of being carried on his back, can fit through a standard tennis court gate and allows him

to do more lawns per day than his competition. Dudley, who has also invented ‘The Bandit’ dartboards, has been in the business for 25 years and guarantees his work which puts paid to all manner of weeds, including Onehunga weed, daises, broad leaved weeds and dandelions. His chemicals are non-toxic to pets and people and he is the only person in the area specialising in prickle management alone – most likely due to the fact that he invented his own equipment. A ¾ acre section takes him about 45 minutes at a cost of between $120-150, with extra rates for every half acre after that, while he will also spray smaller sections of any size. Dudley says now is the perfect time to get your lawn sprayed as waiting until November will likely be too late to ensure a prickle-free environment for summer sport and barbecues.

Platinum selling country legend in town New Zealand country music legend Dennis Marsh will be in Tauranga on Sunday September 23 at Central Baptist Church.
The performance is part of Sunday Night @ Central, a monthly event at Central Baptist Church. Producer pastor Tom Frew says Dennis has been at the forefront of New Zealand’s country music scene for many years. His albums have won gold and platinum status, not just in New Zealand but overseas. He has performed in Australia, Norfolk
Island, the Phillippines, Singapore and Nashville. He is also the former New Zealand Country Music Awards Entertainer of the Year. He has just returned from a period of successful entertaining on international cruise lines. Dennis has previously appeared to capacity crowds at Sunday Night @ Central and several New Zealand tours. Sunday Night @ Central has become the showcase for many of New Zealand’s upand-coming talents and has helped launch the careers of several overseas artists, with New Zealand and Australian promoters and talent scouts making it their opportunity
to see artists in live performances. Organist Len Hockly, who has appeared with Dennis before, will be part of the programme and many people enjoy singing along with his incredible music before the show, so it is good for people to attend early. Feasts of the Lord are all about timing
In Leviticus 23:1–2 the Lord instructs Moses to speak to the people of Israel about the appointed feasts of the Lord they were to observe as holy convocations. The word ‘feast’ translated means ‘times’ in Hebrew – so God was setting in place ‘appointed times’ referring to appointments in history when God was foretelling His intervention. These were fixed times or seasons that God specifically set that His people are to be aware of, even as a bridal couple know the appointed time of their wedding. The word that is translated ‘convocations’ in Hebrew means ‘rehearsal’. Therefore, in setting aside these appointed times in the Hebrew calendar, God was setting in place rehearsals to be undertaken every year, at these set times. The purpose of the rehearsal was to prepare them for the day when God would come to fulfill what they were rehearsing! It was only in doing the specific things, on the specific days as God instructed that they would know the real thing when God came to fulfill what He had specifically promised. These dress rehearsals that continue today are the Feasts of the Lord celebrated in the spring feasts of Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits and Pentecost and in the fall feasts of Trumpets,
the Day of Atonement and Tabernacles. What’s important is that the spring feasts, which had been rehearsed for more than 1500 years in Israel, were fulfilled in the first coming of Jesus, as the Lamb of God, in perfect fulfillment of every detail that had been part of the spring feasts and on the exact days of these feasts. He was the spotless Lamb slain on Passover, He was buried on Unleavened Bread and He rose again on the third day; on the day of First Fruits as the One who was the First Fruits. And fifty days later, on the exact day that Pentecost had been rehearsed for 1500 years, the Holy Spirit was poured out in perfect fulfillment of all that had been rehearsed. The fall feasts relate to the second coming of Christ and they will be fulfilled exactly as has been rehearsed and the events will occur on the exact days these feasts were set by God. We know the days, but not the years. We are in the time of these fall feasts now. As God’s people, we need to know the ‘appointed times’ so as to be ready like the five wise virgins of Matthew 25.
