the
Summit Auction: 80 Years of Magic!
Happy New Year!
Support Learning that Lasts Forever
I cannot believe the school year is half way over! I wanted to take a minute to thank all of our fabulous parent volunteers! Whether you’ve helped out in the classroom, in the library, at a sporting event or a fundraiser, thank you very much! We absolutely would not be a success without your help! I am so excited about our Auction coming up on March 23! We have great dinner parties, vacation houses and jewelry too! Please plan on joining us for a fun-filled evening! All of our committees are hard at work! If you are looking for a place to help out, please let me know!
The Summit Auction, celebrating 80 Years of Magic, is just around the corner. Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 23 for a night full of excitement and wonder! Jennifer Hudson and Dana Stallings and all the terrific volunteers have been working long and hard to make this year’s event truly special. We have new technology, great entertainment, delicious food, valuable artwork and experiences to bid on and lots of surprises in store for you. We are excited to introduce you to BidPal, which adds a technological twist to this year’s event. Our BidPal Giving Center will go live in February, and you will be able to stay up to date with ‘all things’ Auction! Register at www.summitschool.com/auction2013 to purchase tickets (beginning in February), view items, and find out more about the evening. Tickets will be $100 per person, but the first fifty ‘early bird’ tickets will be available at the anniversary price of just $80 each! Our evening will begin at 6 pm in the Eagles’ Nest gym with drinks and our Silent Auction, and then continue with dinner and the Live Auction in the Athletic Center. We are grateful to Summit parents Kim Bailey and Steve Combes, our auctioneers for the evening. Flik, featuring food stations celebrating classic American cuisine, will provide catering. Prepare to be amazed and enthralled by Chris Hannibal and his Unique Inspirational Theatre. “A true showman and an incredibly
accomplished sleight of hand artist, Hannibal dazzles audiences with a unique and delightful brand of entertainment, blending jaw-dropping magic with sidesplitting comedy.” For a preview, visit chrishannibal.com. Back by popular demand, we will hold the Golden Ticket Raffle! 100 raffle tickets will be sold for $50 on Auction night and the winner will have a chance to pick the live auction item of their choice! You will not want to miss the live auction featuring our wonderful Class Projects as well as many Premium Items. We would like to highlight three special items created by Summit grandparent Bob Hudson. He has lovingly crafted three inventive stands for the kindergartners to decorate, continued on page 3

BidPal Handheld Bidding On Auction night, everyone will be offered a BidPal device or the opportunity to connect to the auction using your own smartphone. BidPal alerts you when you’ve been outbid—no more dashing away from visiting with your friends to check on your bids—and you can even set a maximum bid amount and let BidPal automatically increase it if necessary. With BidPal, you can bid anytime, from anywhere at the event. And, at the end of the auction, you’ll immediately know exactly what you won. It’s that simple. It’s that fun!
