Students Shine at Annual Meeting

Classroom News

On April 15, Sullivan BOCES held its Annual Meeting. During the event, school board members and administrators had the opportunity to hear firsthand from ninth grader Elizabeth Billet, a Liberty student in the Alternative Education program, as well as graduating senior Elias Bonilla, a Monticello student in the Special Education and CTE programs, about their experiences at BOCES.

Both students shared how BOCES has positively impacted their education and expressed that they would not be where they are today without BOCES. Guests also had the opportunity to interact with students during the reception and learn more about their respective programs. During the presentation, Deputy Superintendent/COO, Susan A. Schmidt and members of the administrative team highlighted programs and services, discussed what’s on the horizon, and reviewed the proposed 2026–2027 budget. One of the evening’s favorite traditions concluded the event, as board members and administrators were selected to receive items created by CTE students, each representing different programs, as a token of appreciation for their support and the opportunity to attend BOCES.

Sullivan BOCES Study Update White & Partners LLC is in the final stage of data collection for the BOCES Organizational Study, which is evaluating its structure, service capacity, administrative functions, and physical facilities. Over the past several weeks, the team has distributed surveys and met with various stakeholder groups to better understand their perspectives. Once all data has been collected, the team will begin compiling and analyzing the information to develop a comprehensive report. This study is part of the process that precedes the search for a new District Superintendent and is designed to highlight institutional strengths and identify strategic opportunities to guide future planning and decisionmaking. The report is scheduled for submission to NYSED by June 20, 2026.
