WHY SUFFOLK DESIGN?

Suffolk has to grow… 

….new homes, workplaces, schools and infrastructure are needed to meet to meet current and future needs.

Ensuring good design is embedded in the process of delivering this growth will ensure our places look good and “function” both now and in the future

OUR FOCUS  Transformational

approach:  Producing design guidance – deliver growth that is integrated into Suffolk’s settlements and landscapes and that responds to context  Delivering a wider programme of learning, CPD and networking for staff, members, development industry and communities

OUR APPROACH Not a linear approach…looking for a ripple effect  Respect the past …. embrace our future  Accept changes to the way we live & work … and future proof our designs to be flexible 

OUR APPROACH (2) Build / grow well connected communities that embrace healthy lifestyles and reflect our demographics  Ensure integrated access & development of homes and services  Reflect all environments … urban, rural & coastal  Deliver social and economic benefit through good design 

OUR APPROACH (3) Create attractive places where people choose to live  Work with the existing landscape and create new green infrastructure with space to mature 
