Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa
y adult daughter had never been to Mexico before, so this year I decided to introduce her to the Cancun/ Riviera Maya/Tulum region for her birthday. The first resort on my list was Dreams Tulum. I’d been there briefly before, but knew it was a place I wanted to return to for a longer stay. Dreams Tulum is a big resort. In fact, it’s like a small village, replete with colonial courtyard, a small chapel for weddings, a sprawling beach, and 44 acres of lush tropical grounds. I remembered hammocks on the balconies of their new Preferred Club wing with swim-out suites, so I made sure we snagged one. It was lovely, but fighting over that hammock was a daily occurrence! Dreams Tulum is a family-friendly allinclusive that offers Unlimited Luxury ® with six à la carte restaurants, a buffet, a café, a grill, many bars, and room service. Their jungle spa is very special, with massages in rainforest huts, private hot tubs and waterfalls. Their entertainment at night is also incredible – each evening boasting a different theme and

very professional acts. And being mere minutes away from the ancient Mayan Ruins at Tulum is also a bonus. Though this is a family-friendly resort, it’s large enough that adults can easily find privacy. And better yet, their Explorers Kids Club is so comprehensive that often the children never want to leave, allowing parents to have some adult time. One thing that really sets this particular Dreams resort apart is their social responsibility. They have received the Certificate of Environmental Quality in Tourism by PROFEPA, a highly prestigious environmental award, and they also have a save-the-sea turtle program. They also help their staff run their own local businesses on site and sponsor many charitable events. As for us, my daughter’s first foray into how magical Mexico can be was met with fabulous beach days, crazy pool fun and lots of great food, drink and camaraderie. And though our stay was short, it was very sweet. Truly, it was the stuff that dreams are made of. Visit: www.dreamsresorts.com/tulum SUSAN CAMPBELL Twitter: @suectravel
