Permit Process with COP

Permits and variances with the City of Phoenix is not an easy task.

Ever since I was handed with this responsibility, I was laser focused till we received all the permits from the city; documented every detail, interacted with many departments at EPR, AFP, and COP.

Research - StudioMa & ASU

I am heavily invested in research and reasoning.

My first task at StudioMa was to work on the Graphics for a research paper that was cocreated by ASU and StudioMa, called “Embassy 2050”.

I even got a chance to visit D.C. for one of the presentations.

An internal design competition within the firm was to create an elevation scheme for a K-8 School Addition/Renovation project.

The school chose to add new buildings for their gymnasium, auditorium, ticketing booths, and associated spaces around their existing classroom building.

The scheme shown below was my quick proposal sketch, developed by massing the building on ArchiCAD to generate the areas, height, and slopes based on the program and code. Later were printed to scale to sketch numerous iterations for the elevations, before they were taken back and tested on the 3-D model.

Overview

Block models, mind maps, adjacency diagrams, and flowcharts are my primary analysis tools.

Problem solving for me begins with;

• Understanding the problem

Overview

Most of my work tasks at StudioMa are oriented towards Research, Pre-Design, Model Making and Schematic Design.

I had an opportunity to be involved in 7 different projects at different phases of development; and work on Revit, Bluebeam, Pointcloud, during my summer internship.

Container House

Overview

Hamilton Architecture - 2024

One of my ground-up projects, was to design this container house.

This was a challenging project typology, and required creative problem solving to take this non conventional shipping container to a conventional house. The learning curve was pretty steep since this was the first time the firm worked on a shipping container house. The conceptual and initial schematic design was done by my teammate and the project was transfered to me Mid-SD phase to continue developing DD and CD’s.

After intense research on shipping containers, I’ve started to build the container framework while working on foundations, clearances, details and structure to complete the CD’s.

This is also the most challenging project for our firm, not only because of the scale of this project, but because it went through an extensive permitting process
