SUDBURY WOLVES MEDIA / SCOUTING NOTES
Sunday, October 26th, 2025 | Sudbury Wolves vs. Peterborough Petes
The Sudbury Wolves are set to play their multiple games in the same weekend at home today, as the Peterborough Petes visit for the first time this season This is the first meeting overall between the two teams this season as well, with the Wolves winning the season series in 2024/25, 3-1. The Wolves enter the matchup sitting 5th in the Central Division with a record of 3-8-1-0, including a 2-1-1-0 record at home, and a 1-7-0-0 record on the road. The Petes are currently positioned 4th in the East Division with a 6-5-1-1 record. At home, the Petes have a 4-1-0-1 record with a road record of 2-4-1-0.
The Czech forward came to North America this season with a ton of expectations. Through 13 games, it’s safe to say that Adam Novotný has lived up to the billing. Recently named an “A” prospect by NHL Central Scouting, Novotný has hit North American ground running. Held scoreless in his first three OHL games, Novotný has exploded with points in eight of his last ten, and goals in six of his last seven. Described as a “threat off the rush when his team regroups and attacks through the neutral zone, giv(ing) his opponents all they can handle out in front of their net and along the boards” by Sportsnet’s Jason Bukala, Notovný’s powerful skating, explosiveness, and release has made an instant impact in the Petes lineup. Peterborough moves forward not only hoping to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2023, but for Novotný to be the club’s first import selected first round at the NHL Draft since Lucas Krajicek in 2001.
After missing the first six games of the season with an injury, Nathan Villeneuve has provided a muchneeded spark since returning to the Wolves lineup. In six games, the Seattle Kraken prospect has tallied two goals and seven assists, all in three-point bunches against Erie (October 11), the Soo (October 17), and this past Friday night against Barrie, with all resulting in wins. Utilizing his blend of skill and physicality, Villeneuve continues to be an offensive leader, building off a 2024-25 season where he posted a career-high 70 points in 57 games. Now in his fourth season with the Wolves, Villeneuve was named the 55th captain in franchise history, a recognition of his growth into a respected leader and role model in Sudbury. As the season progresses, Villeneuve will be relied upon to guide a young Wolves squad both on and off the ice while continuing to refine his game for the next level.
Sunday’s game is proudly sponsored by KISS 105.3, and is the first Jr. Wolves Sunday of the season! Wolves Nalon is encouraged to slck around following the conclusion of Sunday’s game to skate on the ice, as select members of the Wolves will be skalng as well for photos, autographs, and a great lme.
