SUDBURY WOLVES MEDIA / SCOUTING NOTES
Friday, January 23rd, 2026 | Sudbury Wolves vs. Brantford Bulldogs
The Sudbury Wolves and the Brantford Bulldogs meet for the third time this season, with the Bulldogs winning in each of their first two matchups. The Wolves, who are currently on a two-game win streak, look to change the narrative and make it three straight While the Bulldogs have had the upper hand this season, the teams have been evenly matched over the last five years, as Sudbury has won nine of the 18 meetings. The Wolves enter today’s matchup sitting 4th in the Central Division with a record of 17-25-1-0, including a 14-9-1-0 record at home, and a 3-16-0-0 record on the road. The Bulldogs are currently positioned 1st in the East Division, with a 30-7-6-1 record. At home, the Bulldogs have a 17-1-2-1 record with a road record of 13-6-4-0.
On a Brantford roster loaded with NHL prospects, draft-eligible forward Caleb Malhotra has stood out as one of the team’s most dynamic offensive contributors. Through 43 games this season, Malhotra leads the Bulldogs with 59 points, a total that has him in a three-way tie for second place league-wide. Just over a week ago, he was selected to represent the Eastern Conference prospects at the Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game, where he served as an assistant captain and recorded two assists. His strong play throughout the season has not gone unnoticed, as he was recently ranked fifth among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Draft Rankings. As the Bulldogs gear up for the postseason, Malhotra will be a key driver as Brantford sets its sights on an OHL championship.
Over the past week, Wolves forward Blake Clayton emerged as one of the league’s most productive players. The draft-eligible forward recorded six points in three games, highlighted by a career-high fourpoint performance against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Clayton tallied two goals and two assists in the contest, including the opening goal just 17 seconds into the game. His standout effort earned him firststar honours for the game, as well as OHL First Star of the Night recognition. Relied upon for his defensive reliability, Clayton’s recent surge in offensive production has been a welcome boost to the Wolves’ forward group. As he assumes an expanded role following the trade deadline, Clayton will look to play a key part in the Wolves’ push toward the playoffs.
